WOW. Thanks. Much appreciated. I've just ordered my VT40X with the accompanying Footswitch. Your hands-on review is a huge navigational entree to savour.
I have the VT40X and I like it, I ordered it along with a Boss Katana to audition them both, I chose the Vox as it has a tube on the pre amp and the software is much better than the Katana software, the only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have an effects loop and you can only have 3 effects running, I get around this by using the overdrive and distortion pedals and volume pedal on my pedal board and the modulation effects on the amp. Its great for using at home especially since I moved from a detached house to a semi as my 1973 WEM Dominator MKII is far too loud for a semi detached home.
Yep. I just ordered mine with the Footswitch. That will give me EIGHT Effects/Preset choices or Amp tones for instant stomp accsss. I also have a BD2 Booster and a RC1 Looper for connecting to the front end. Can't wait!

Hi! I have a question before i buy this amp : I have heard that using pedals in modeling amps is not the best idea because it creates a very distorted sound but if the modeling amp is without effects and on a clean channel and if I use the pedal, is the problem treated? Is it like a normal amp? Btw I have the pedal Joyo AcTone
@@BrentHutchinson but for example: I change one of the bank presets and I put a trebble booster and a vox AC30 on the software and I save to the amp. Do I need to have the cable connected to produce that sound or does the amp memorize the presets?
If your Windows doesn't detect/connect your amp even though it's connected via USB, you might have too many USB/MIDI audio devices installed/uninstalled/registered by Windows. There is a utility included to uninstall USB/MIDI devices in the Tone Room USB driver package. Install the driver package, but I suppose you already did. Launch that uninstall utility (it sits in the Start Menu created for Tone Room) and make sure you remove some of those unused devices. You can recognize them by their name: the name either includes "invalid" (means a device was uninstalled but its entry remains in the list) or they are greyed out (means they were installed and used but currently not connected). Your goal is to have at least one empty slot in the first 10 slots so that Tone Room can link up your amp and the driver as well. Once you have one empty slot there, close the utility, (you might have to reinstall the drivers, can't recall that step anymore) launch Tone Room and it should detect and connect your amp via USB.
Maybe it can be done in Tone Room, or just do like me and lower power level before switching amp models. You can also set your own presets in theBanks section, very handy and it saves the volume level!
Thanks for the demo!!! It's a bit hard to find videos that go into so much depth! I've just bought the 50w version, but yet to d/l tone room (the wife is insisting I keep it until my birthday next month.....*sighh*. Anyway, what I really wanted to know was...when you use tone room and plug into USB....does that override the amp controls, or should you set everything to a clean sound first? I currently have to do that with my Line6 pod. Sorry for asking such a basic question! Cheers!
Hmm.......my ToneRoom looks nothing like that when I installed it............your's has loads of stuff shown; mine is empty........how did you get loads of stuff in there?
yeah it is a shame as there is some really good tones there. Of course you can just mic the amp but it does colour the sound so more fiddling. The Line 6 is more than good enough to produce the tones too and there are always VSTs too. Lots of options these days. It would do them good to sort it really apparently its just a software thing.
Astonishing that with all of that capability, they didn't add a simple 2in-2out interface on the USB. It's already doing all the A/D/A conversion, so it's literally just software.
Thx for the vid, but.... this is the Most ugly interface ever. This sound like a 2000's software. Mb i am too focused on design, but it does not give any desire to use it. Last version is from 2017... no update since.
