I'll go and buy me one today... It is a lot of amp for that kind of money. Quite incredible, really. That one can get so much authentic quality sound for such a price these days. I mean, you basically get 10 classic amps in one. And they do sound like they should.
I have had this amp for about a year and a half now. I would call it my first real amp. Sounds great in my bedroom and when I have it too loud I get in trouble. You can feel this amp in the floor but some of the sounds can be a little muddy. It takes time to learn how to dial it in properly. Have used it gigging a couple times and was loud but did kind of get drowned out in the mix. Great amp for the price.
Good job on this demo keeping a pace that provided viewers with enough time to hear & evaluate the timbres/presets but not stick on any one too long 'noodling' around! I appreciate getting to hear many/most of the effects, too. I really love this little amp and am in need of one as I type this. My trusty old Crate has bitten the dust & my Peavey 50/50 Classic Tube is too hot/loud to run. I've spent months listening/reading reviews, etc. on the leading modelers: Boss Katana, Marshall Code, Blackstar ID Stereo amps, Vox VTs, Fender Mustangs/GTs, and got rid of my Peavey Vypyr VIP 2 40W ASAP almost for free! Some very annoying things about that amp series that I can't believe Hartley Peavey allowed (or would allow...is he retired...still around?) to happen...but then again Peavey has been programming SHARC chips quite a while and there is great potential in the Vypyrs - just not for my 60-year old ass that doesn't want the master vol & bass cranked to 13 on almost every freakin' patch...for 120W Triple XXX metal! Not my generation/thing anymore(!) Let's see...what was the subject here? Vox VTX....jeez, they go for less than $150 used now at G.C. in good shape & have a real 12AX7 in 'em. I'm not sure how good the headphone output is for laying down tracks (I believe the USB is for editing only...?). Maybe it's about time for Vox to do a VT V2 model and put some Ins/Outs on the backside....maybe copy the new Katana Stereo link idea as I think 2 of these 40W VTX amps about 10 - 12 feet apart slaved together would be killer!
I have two Vox in use - Vox VT40X, Vox VT100X. Where the speaker is larger, of course it sounds better. I hardly use preset presets. You can find your settings through the Tone Room. It is very convenient when a footswitch is connected, so whoever is going to buy such a combo amplifier, do not forget about it. Without him, as without hands. Works quite adequately in conjunction with guitar gadgets. Of course, there are downsides, there is no effects loop and no output to external acoustics, but I think this is not significant. I am one hundred percent satisfied with my devices.
I've had this amp for about a year and keep coming back to it. I really think the analog signal path (+tube) in the preamp makes a world of difference over other modeling amps.
I have this amp and its head and shoulders above Marshall's Code, Katana and Mustangs for true authentic tube sound and it has a surprisingly open and "big" amp sound (no boxyness like other small amps) - plus unlike the others of this size you can use the footswitch to make it an 8 channel amp. Prob loud enough for small gigs too, though I only use mine for chilling in the lounge and it sounds incredible at even very low volume. They sound so much better than this demo up close and my Fender Blues Deluxe doesn't get turned on anymore as it sounds crap at low volume. Never used te USB software, its easy enough to manipulate with the knobs.
Totally enjoying the VT40X.... Fantastic in my small Home Studio and small gigs.. Maybe re-consider harsh criticism of it's sound values if your listening through your computer.... It's a jewel...
I'm digging some of the tones coming from this amp. Might have to go to a store to hear what it sounds like up close. Wonder how this amp works with pedals?
Sounds quite reasonable. I have the AD30VT and it is really a matter of me dialing in tones, using the pickups and working on my playing style - I have not yet reached an end with that one. the VT 40X seems to be even a bit better (listening to this video) One "sound machine" (listening on YT) that I really like is the Mesa Boogie Studio preamp - funny, quite "old" that one is.

@@vincesina9786 thanks... I would rather play straight through with no pedals (TS at the most) and I was told they are great amps but not much gain. I play hard rock metalish. Looking at the Blackstar ht-5 HR Mkii
They sound better in person! Mine sounds pretty good for the money,I think. It rocks in my basement,no mic,and keeps up with the two loud drummers I jam with, lol.
Yes, you see that “power level” knob on the right side? For lack of a better term, that knob adjusts how much juice the amp is actually getting. So if you crank that knob, you get all 40W and it’s pretty loud. If you put it at say 1/4, the amp will be more controllable like a small practice amp.
I've got the VT20X and cleans to medium gain aren't too bad. The thing that kills me about this amp is that when turning the noise reduction off, this is easily the most noisy amp I've had in 18 years. Turn on the noise reduction, and sustained notes get prematurely choked out. That is pretty much my biggest bitch about the amp.
+dekzan I traded the Gibson sg faded special for a prs se zach myers, and I'll revisit my remark regarding the amp. I thought initially I had an unusable amp that was noisy beyond belief. Well, the PRS is quiet as the grave with minimal noise on dirty tones and completely quiet on cleans. I thought that the mids were really hollow and weak, but turns out that a change of guitars was the needed fix for this amp. I usually have a fairly neutral eq, with gain and bass being around 2 o'clock and sounds pretty full and pleasing for practice, and really sounds nice and fat when both the volume and power level are up halfway. Still not sold on the effects other than reverb and delay. The overdrive gives a nice added kick on the Orange Rockerverb model. At the end of the day, it is what it is and as a practice amp I'd say that for the price it's pretty good with more useful tones than a lot of modelers out there on the market today. The amp really shines with clean and crunches, and struggles with the heavier and more modern tones with exception to the Orange tone. The recto and User C option sounded way too scooped, even with a mid focused guitar like the PRS and mids cranked just sounded like the cheap amp that it is on those settings. Not a bad amp if expectations are realistic and that's all someone could afford. Honestly I wish this was my first amp to start with, it beats the amp my harmony starter pack came with!
I've noticed that too (on my VT40X), even a lot of the heavier presets have the noise reduction cranked so high that the sustain just trashes the sound.
+Tyler Andreasen I agree with the noise reduction on this amp. It completely destroys any possible sustain from the notes, and I still stand by the belief in it being the biggest gripe with these amps.
I meant to say the "lack of sustain" (due to the brutal noise reduction) - but yeah I agree with you. I almost returned this amp because of that problem.
Just for the fun of it I put a triode-balanced Tung-sol and a Celestian G10 in this amp. As I put them in together (its quick and painless) I can’t tell which made the difference but it sounds like a much smoother amp. Really expanded the dynamic range. Granted the speaker and tube were half as much as the amp but I really like the sound of this amp. I also have two 100 watt Marshall’s running in stereo, those aren’t going anywhere during the pandemic and they aren’t wife friendly for practice. I thought this would be a quick fix and it was worth it for a knock around amp. I play Suhr guitars and they tend to be very “chimey” , so they love the smoother speaker.
hi, is this amplifier is also good or advisable also for the acoustic guitar, im both electric and acoustic player but i want only one amplifier so im looking for that kind
The headless guitar player. Lol good amp and love how he demos for us all. The amp is a bit confusing tho with the setting and doesn’t come with a manual
@@historiaif3966 100 watt doesn't mean it is two times louder than 50 watt. don't ask why, it is just the nature law. or so I've been told by the people who actually know what they say :D
Hi, I own this amp and I play with a Schecter Damian 6 with EMG hambuckers but I can't have a clear understandable sound from it I don't understand the reason . could u pls help me?
It's pretty good- and if you're one of those "must have a tube in it" type guys- it's got on in the preamp so, calm down- the sky is firmly intact. That said- the Line 6 Catalyst I think has the modeling market cornered man- very difficult to beat it unless you upgrade to the HX Stomp which is not cheap- at all. Those things are much more substantial and involved than I thought- I just played through one this morning- wow. Endless presets- and they're all named after like famous songs or tones that you recognize like "Run Like Hell" or "Brown" - the brown sound of course being the Eddie Van Halen, Peavey 5150 thing and the other being a delayed, cleaner tone often used by Floyd. Or, you can edit the existing effects or just build one of your own from scratch- awesome unit. The only issue- it's not cheap, and then you have to turn around and buy a cab or PA to go with it. The Catalyst has all the same effects as the HX stomp but- no presets, you have to build your own presets. Plus it's a combo amp so it's ready to play out of box, nothing else required. It has all the software editing stuff, you can connect it to your pc- but you can also do all that stuff manually with just the amp. I like that because Spark and Yamaha users often complain about the app not working or having to be updated. I'm sure the Catalyst app will be the same but, you can do everything without it if you need to. Plus, you can connect a powered head or preamp so- I can connect an Orange Tiny Terror or my Blackstar HT drive and get an authentic tube driven tone if the sim isn't good enough to suit me. And it's a 4-channel audio interface that meshes with most DAWs.

Owned this amp for two years now. It's great and in my opinion better than the fender mustang, especially for cleans. It lacks in heavy/ hard Rock options in my book. Great distortion, however very limited if you occasionally play metal like me.
Its a good amp for people who dont know what to get yet and who dont have a huge pedal collection yet. Obviously it cant compete with higher price segments for tube or solid state amps. Clean sound is below average for the price segment its in. Default Volume settings are at 7-8 when you turn it on. Woke up my flatmates 2-3 times because the plug of my guitar is loose :( Thank you to the idiot from vox who thought this was a good idea ...

I recently bought myself one of these amps and every time I turn it on it makes this popping sounds and then this buzzing starts happening afterwards , is this normal?
you have the volume tirned up...the popping is when the valve heats up and suddenly kicks in...turn the volume off when you switch on . the buzzing could be anything...amp , lead , guitar, who knows ?
I kinda think the old AD50VT’s sound better for some reason. And if anyone can find the original blue grill type, buy it. Those are the absolute best. This one sounds good tho. But I like the AD/VT’s better.
If you buy the 100 watts version, you can easily do it.. If you buy 40 watts, you can still do a gig in cafes and clubs and 20 watts, you can jam with friends, I have this amp and trust me It sounds way louder than you think...
I have the same amp and I have one question regarding a processor with this amp .... Should I buy the boss me 80 processor with this amp to make it sound more amazing
I had the Vox VT40+ and it was a great little amp with lots(too much) power...The cleans were magical for the price and most of the effects were great....But this is a shame to watch,it hurts that this legendary company is down like this....This is not a great product... can you hear the people at Blackstar laughing?....Thank god they still have the AC line.....
+Duncan Earley This does sound shite (honest). It looks like a great amp for the jobbing pro muso who plays a ton of covers every night to the brain dead general public on a cruise ship / working man's club with a bunch of other musicians, but for what they'll be charging for this you are always going to be better off from a tonal purist point of view with a proper valve amp and the Blackstar range is the obvious competition. I don't work for them but have one and the price / performance ratio on their stuff is astonishing. Bear in mind that the hate in this thread is coming from guitar players and we're very fussy about what we play :-)
Er, I was agreeing with you. An amp with this sort of versatility would be ideal for a covers band I've just started ... but I just don't like the sound of it. It's gutless. Had high hopes when I opened up the video ... but was disappointed and will stick to basics ie small valve amps and a decent PA. IMHO Blackstar make great small valve amps with modern features at a good price.
+bubbanderson Right on!I have now the HT5-R and i think is good, not great, for the asking price, but if you look at the ID series wich is what I think Vox is aiming to compete with I think theres is no comparaison possible,I've tried the two and beleive me solid state or emulation is coming close to a tube amps ....Rock on brother..Cheers from Montréal,Québec...Bonne journée....
I own the 40 watte with footpedal I play 86 kramer I get a rich warm sound and this amp can sound very sweet Blues-rock-metal or clean.....the tube makes this amp sweet...Not far from a supro ( 1200 $ amp)
I buy it about 2 years ago and i dont really like the distorsion for play death metal and that stuff , the delay is so limited and the other thing like reverb and all the effects are so limited . If you want a clean sound maybe it's a good option but if you play metal I don't recommend it
+Matt86Man Now I have.I agree it is a better demo but I am still unimpressed.Everything sounds so fuzzy----you know the old wasp in a jam jar syndrome.
+kingstumble The demo with Rob Chapman and Lee is probably the better demo out of the many on youtube. I normally don't like the sounds they demo and they talk too much (this video is no exception), but if you skip to around 9:00ish they start playing. I don't feel like it was tampered with much and presents an honest representation.

+Tyler Andreasen
I agree with the noise reduction on this amp.
Vox vt40x or Marshall Code 50?
hi, is this amplifier is also good or advisable also for the acoustic guitar, im both electric and acoustic player but i want only one amplifier so im looking for that kind
would have been nice if we could actually see what options were being chosen, the image of the switch isn't good enough imho
is 40 watts enough to play live, lets say for 1000 people?
can you use a distortion pedal with it?
The headless guitar player. Lol good amp and love how he demos for us all. The amp is a bit confusing tho with the setting and doesn’t come with a manual
is there line out
I wonder if this power (40w) is enough to play live, side by side with a drum...
Diego Quinteros I would say so
Yes and held it's own against a 100 watt Marshall the other guitarist had
How come it can beat 100 watt marshall volume? Is it logical
@@historiaif3966 100 watt doesn't mean it is two times louder than 50 watt. don't ask why, it is just the nature law. or so I've been told by the people who actually know what they say :D
Amp sounds much better than here. What is that fizz?
3:00 note ?
What's the song at 0.00 - 0.40 ?
I like this amp, but have seen a few posts about buzz. Has anybody experienced buzzing or hum with this amp?
There is no kind of hum or noise in this amp. It is the most silent amp I ever played!!
Audio interface?
What's the difference between this amp and the vt40+?
Sowiecki Kaktus this the vt40
@@CountrySingerWannabe dude I don't understand you
Sowiecki Kaktus sorry I didn’t realize there are 2 diff vt40s. The + looks to have more channels and more modeling options.
@@CountrySingerWannabe and that's the thing I wanted to know xD thanks
Is this Amp loud enough to gig with?
Thanks for the video. Getting an AV30 instead.
Noooooo av 30 doesn't have much effects
Can you control how much effects your getting in the signal?
Is this a good beginner amp? Or the fender mustang lt 25 or gt 40 would be better?
HELLO! LOOKED AT YOUR VIDEO ROLL, THINK THAT YOU CAN HELP ME. RECENTLY Bought VOX VT40X CONNECTED IT TO A COMPUTER. EVERYTHING WORKS, BUT THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WHICH I CAN'T SOLVE I CAN NOT ON THE COMPUTER TO SAVE THE CREATED CREATIONS, THEY WILL BE SAVED, BUT OPEN THEM IS NOT RECEIVED. AND ANOTHER PROBLEM. I CAN'T CONNECT VOX VT40X R TO THE COCOS REAPER SOFTWARE AND AT ALL IS IT POSSIBLE OR TO WRITE THROUGH A MICROPHONE AND FOCUSRITE.
Hi man, please refer to the official statement from Vox's support:

What to buy? This or a Fender mustang 40gt? Help 🤘
R.L. Schuurman this
Owned this amp for two years now. It's great and in my opinion better than the fender mustang, especially for cleans. It lacks in heavy/ hard Rock options in my book. Great distortion, however very limited if you occasionally play metal like me.
What is the name of the footswitch for this amp?
VFS5
Its a good amp for people who dont know what to get yet and who dont have a huge pedal collection yet. Obviously it cant compete with higher price segments for tube or solid state amps. Clean sound is below average for the price segment its in. Default Volume settings are at 7-8 when you turn it on. Woke up my flatmates 2-3 times because the plug of my guitar is loose :(
Thank you to the idiot from vox who thought this was a good idea ...
Have reverb?
4 types of reverb itself lol😂
Valvetronic or katana artist 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Was a fan of these amps ten yr ago. Take it they have improved since then. Boss gets good press aswell. Blackstar id60 also has tube feel!!
I believe the cabinet of these are made of MDF board, which is a big fail in my book, other than that the tones are awesome.
Just need help I don't know if I should get this amp vox vt40x or the Vox av
ejaylatino go with the Vox VT40X
I ended up getting the box vt40x and I have to say it sounds great i just spend hours playing and trying all different sounds and the app is great as well
ejaylatino great choice I got the Vox to pair with my Epiphone SG G-400 Pro and I love it. I've tried to to take a day off to let my fingers toughen (I haven't played in almost 20 years) but I can't help but pick my axe up and practice. Excuse my doting but the SG Looks so beautiful and it sounds so well with the VT40X I honestly don't care what anyone thinks 😜I just love practising AC/DC songs on it. I'll stop now before I write a sonnet "Ode to my amp" 😂
just last week i got the new 2017 PRS SE Santana and playing it throw this amp is just great all i need is a wah wah pedal and im good to go
Hi. I want to buy the same model AMP. But I will use for metal with fx pedal. Is it good for metal? sorry for my english
Very good i playing metal and have a nice tone
What a song at 2:54 -3:07 ?
Fron can to cant,corey taylor
How does this compare to the Marshall Code 50?
I feel the Vox wins by a landslide. I played both several times and ended up going with the Vox.
I have both the Marshal Code 50 and Vox VT40X. I personally like the tone of the vox better.
hello sir. u got those sounds just from the amp setups? no pedals or softs etc..? because i have a zoom G1xon of course it has alot of effects..butsometimes they have delay in my amp... so i was considering and looking for an amp with those effecs without using the zoom g1xon :O:O is it working ? im also using a PA as a guitar amp..is it ok ? i plug the guitar into mic jack
Pubg the pedal into the aux input of the amp. The delay goes away
This or the marshall Code 50?
João Fernandes This
This x2
Only thing I don’t like is there is no line out.
I recently bought myself one of these amps and every time I turn it on it makes this popping sounds and then this buzzing starts happening afterwards , is this normal?
you have the volume tirned up...the popping is when the valve heats up and suddenly kicks in...turn the volume off when you switch on . the buzzing could be anything...amp , lead , guitar, who knows ?
no it's not, The popping noise you say has to do with the solder joint's to the speaker,They have a crack in them,Which causes those noise's.
What song did you play for 'user c'???
What's the riff at 0:43?
Sounds like something by Rise Against, but I'm probably wrong.
Is it enough loudly?
40Watts should be way too loud for room practice and about right for Blues/Rock practice with a band. Any louder application would required miking
not vs my nativo st100h xD. great sound
@@Andrey.Balandin But you can control the watts with the power level, right?
Are any of these louder than the fender superchamp x2????
Yes they are I have a vt40x and boy it's loud I've played for 200 people at just 75% of the power knob turned. The amp was without a mic and pa system
Lovely.
exelent the best tutorial
I kinda think the old AD50VT’s sound better for some reason. And if anyone can find the original blue grill type, buy it. Those are the absolute best. This one sounds good tho. But I like the AD/VT’s better.
could you gig with this
If you buy the 100 watts version, you can easily do it.. If you buy 40 watts, you can still do a gig in cafes and clubs and 20 watts, you can jam with friends, I have this amp and trust me It sounds way louder than you think...
suena bonito
Can you play sweet child o mine on it?
I have the same amp and I have one question regarding a processor with this amp .... Should I buy the boss me 80 processor with this amp to make it sound more amazing
Heard some Foo Fighters...
Not sure Vox (Korg ) will be thanking you for this demo !
How does this stand up to the legendary one and only,,,, BOSS katana??
TN The Governor i personally like the katana more but this is still a great amp
Soundwise, this wins, but the katana has more effects and overall tonal capabilities.
could you get away with playing this amp in an apartment complex? do does this amp have a full effects loop and head phone jack? midi in out?
Jesse Reyna it has a headphone jack and they have an app that connects via cable to the amp that has dozens of preset sounds that are fun to play with
I had the Vox VT40+ and it was a great little amp with lots(too much) power...The cleans were magical for the price and most of the effects were great....But this is a shame to watch,it hurts that this legendary company is down like this....This is not a great product... can you hear the people at Blackstar laughing?....Thank god they still have the AC line.....
Eh? You work for black star?
+Duncan Earley This does sound shite (honest). It looks like a great amp for the jobbing pro muso who plays a ton of covers every night to the brain dead general public on a cruise ship / working man's club with a bunch of other musicians, but for what they'll be charging for this you are always going to be better off from a tonal purist point of view with a proper valve amp and the Blackstar range is the obvious competition. I don't work for them but have one and the price / performance ratio on their stuff is astonishing.
Bear in mind that the hate in this thread is coming from guitar players and we're very fussy about what we play :-)
+Duncan Earley Can you say Troll.....
If you want a clean sound maybe it's a good option but if you play metal I don't recommend it
the guy playing likes shitty metal sounds...hedoesnt make good use of them...bad playiny is the problem
the amp is great
lol you recorded that with peaked up settings. real amp sound way better than this.
No sé bien porque en una prueba de ampli en general es microfoneado cuando los que estamos en casa nadie o casi nadie microfonea. Jodida manía....
is this bocchi-chan?
Something is wrong with this demo
Thank you for the demo, good to know that they still sound bad. :p
I have a Vox DA5 which is a great practice amp,but these new ones....? their modelling technology seems to have gone backwards.Shame.
But if the sound is not as good, what is the point?
+Matt86Man Now I have.I agree it is a better demo but I am still unimpressed.Everything sounds so fuzzy----you know the old wasp in a jam jar syndrome.
+kingstumble The demo with Rob Chapman and Lee is probably the better demo out of the many on youtube. I normally don't like the sounds they demo and they talk too much (this video is no exception), but if you skip to around 9:00ish they start playing. I don't feel like it was tampered with much and presents an honest representation.
+kingstumble check out chapman's review it sounds much better
+fazeel ashraf Still not impressed. I wonder if they have the gain turned up too high.I never have mine past about 10 o'clock. If I want more gain I stick a pedal in front, usually a Zendrive and it sounds really good.
Butchered Black Dog at 8:17, agrhhh... (
He did that to avoid copyright issues I guess..
@@cenaakashakash Why do people overthink stuff like this so much lmao. Atlantic or whoever owns the Zep rights are hardly going to care about a few riffs played on guitar, with no lyrics etc.
Sounds very agressive.
Fender amps suck
