    Your little velocity stack looks good. Hopefully you'll be selling it soon. :)
    Oh, by the way, at 2:50, you call it a MAP sensor but it's actually an Air Intake Temperature sensor.

    I wonder why no spark plug change. Just a little hotter. A little bit more gap and a better plug goes a long way. And I really like the muffler on the bottom like that. I have seen others where the muffler is up near the seat and down low like that makes it look sooooo much better. Right on dude. Sorry about the crash. And you could have cut it out of vid and right on you did not. Thanks man. Your right lessons learned dude. Right on right on. Keep up the good work

    The reason for removing the internal snorkel is to open up that intake passage. The "velocity" thingy closes it back down again although it shortens the "intake tube". Just cut the intake snorkel shorter and have about the same thing. My stock 2014 Grom tops out at 66mph with my 190 pound body on it. I'm working on some basic mods (pre-programmed ECU, Iridium spark plug, air box mod and a Hurricane air filter) to try to get it up to 70mph.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  3 роки тому

      I have seen 72 MPH on mine, at 215 lbs. suited after I installed BST wheels.

    Does a velocity stack do anything more than reduce turbulence at WOT?
    The stock throttle body of the Grom has an ID of 24 mm. The inside horn's opening is 24 mm x 36 mm. The ID of that horn is 24 mm. The short adapter that mates the horn and the intake tube going out the back is 24 mm. The tube out the back has an ID of 24 mm.
    So, if the main effect was coming from taking out the metal mesh screen, in that case stock filter < stock filter/screen removed < K & N filter < Koso Hurricane filter. Less restriction equals more air to the throttle body.
    Dyno comes after 5 things were done. 1. Exhaust, 2. Filter mesh removed, 3. inner horn removed, 4. Velocity stack added, and 5. PC V installed (with map). The exhaust and Power Commander would make the greatest change, I would guess.
    What would the results of a Dyno be with the stock horn left in?

      Stack length determines effective intake length. (Stacks do not make power... they MOVE power). As a general rule; the shorter the inlet the higher peak power will be noticed - there is a law of diminishing returns, of course, and reducing the length too much on a 10 hp engine can hamper average acceleration. FYI: No stack whatsoever made the most peak power...but killed average. We tested multiple lengths before making ours available as a good mix for both as the stock stack did not match the new power characteristices when the high flow exhaust was added.

    This bike is a great advert about how much rider weight makes a difference, i'm 5ft 6in and 120 pounds and took a stock grom out the dealer for a test ride and hit 64mph stock. So with all the great Brock's performance parts and mods I should be hitting a peak 20% power gain on that, lovely parts Brock, great company also :) (Hope you don't take offence about the power to weight ratio bit) - From the UK, ash bandicoot

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  8 років тому +4

      +ash bandicoot lol, I take no offense at all. With a bike making the power of a Grom, weight and physical size makes a much larger difference than on a more powerful machine - and the mods make can have a much bigger difference also. With our Chimera intake kit, BST wheels and a slight gearing change, I top out at 72 MPH now and easily cruise at 55-60 MPH. You would REALLY fly. Thanks for the comment.

    • @robertmrozek3067
      @robertmrozek3067 7 років тому

      What's the slight gearing change? I'm a little larger than you and am interested in easily cruising at 55mph.
      I also assume you mean that you have your AH2, PCV, Chimera intake, BST wheels and slight gearing.

    please brock make this with the 2017 grom again..... the airbox is different on the 2017 Model
    Honda give the inner tube another shape its now directing forward directly to the filter with a 90degree angle and also the inlet tube there is now an inner and outer tube
    would be very interresting for us gromlins out there :-)

    Hello I have a small question. In your opinion If I install an high flow exaust the rest of it must be larger diameter than stock or doesn't matter? Cause I installed one in my scooter but the manifold until the muffler it's the same as stock and it came all together. I see other full exausts and the diameters of the manifold are bigger. Thanks in advance.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  10 років тому +1

      That depends on design. Generally yes, larger diameter = higher flow= more power... BUT, if you don't also increase the air available to the engine, the results can suffer. A larger diameter pipe can hamper bottom end power if not properly designed. at Brock's we offer 'packages', so true overall gains are noticed. A small diameter system could help - if the cat is removed - but the gains are typically minimal... they are usually just noisy.

    Can i run this set up( airbox mod and your exhaust) without a Power Commander?

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  7 років тому +2

      Certainly, the bike will operate just fine. The thing you need to remember is that you have increased exhaust flow as well as intake flow. This disrupts the engine's optimum air-fuel ratio (AFR), which can lead to drivability issues as well as reduced performance. A Power Commander (PCV), with our custom map, will correct the AFR to where it needs to match the exhaust to the intake mods. The PCV can always be added later, or you might find the bike is just fine for your tastes without it.

      its not bs it depends mainly on your weight but also where you live... and yes anyone can get a stock grom to 70 go do a hill bomb... you should bounce the rev at around 73 or so maybe 74 if its a windy day with wind at your back you should also be hitting In the higher 60s.. im 140lb... this guy has 60-70 lb heaier then me... so of course ill go faster on that bike then him.. but theres not much he can do about that unless he lose weight but if you are hitting 60 that's good man. here I have two hills if I want to go out to the valley on one way the wind blows in my face max I can do uphill is around 47-50mph and drop to 3rd and then back to 4th to less stress it. on way home though wind is on my back I can go like 65 up the same hill...also hardly any street is level most are either uphill slightly or downhill slightly.. the main street by my house goes like 4-5 blocks to a 7 eleven if I ride my bmx even though it looks flat on way to the store I have to pedal all the way there... but on way home I barely have to pedal because it has a slight downhill. though if you stood there it would look perfectly flat its not. so vids can be misconceiving.. you never know the true factors ie slight downhill or even if its uphill if the wind is blowing 20mph on their back helping them a lot. since its not a freeway bike 60mph is good for city burning you can usually lane split(im in California) and stay ahead of the mob of cars and cops don't care if you are speeding a little because you aren't speeding like the bigger bikes blowing by at 100mph.. ive even rode with some motorcycle cops at 60 mph in the city and they don't care … the grom is the bomb.. I don't think you can get a speeding ticket on it even when you do speed and that is huge for a motorcycle. if you really want to go faster get a bigger bike if you really want a fast mini bike save up for the 250 or 300 swap and then it will be the bike you want. but the swap isn't cheap.

    • @10klotterywinner29

      @@jdogg661420 Yeah i totally understand that and what helps you hit the higher speeds is when you atleast do the exhaust cause my bike wouldnt even hit the rev limiter just revving it in neutral till after atleast the muffler i read that they wont have enough hp to until you mod them a little and i also have a cb300f

    Was going to order some parts from BP. However you have to jump through about 20 hoops just to order. You have to be approved? A credit card isn't approval enough? I don't want another username or password to remember. I just wanna order some parts. Tried several times to create an account or profile, whatever. Just keeps telling me the email already exists etc etc. I'm not sure why you don't just have a checkout with paypal, or credit card info, like everyone else on the internet. It's super frustrating and being impatient and wanting to get my bike done, i'll probably order stuff off ebay. Not everyone is great with computers, passwords, or wanting to wait to be approved in order to order a couple parts. I'm sure I'm not the first person to be put off by the complicated ordering/membership. If i was you I'd fix it.

Clutch and foot shift only (with an exception for disabled riders to use a push button but have a manual clutch) 125cc 4 strokes with no Aftermarket ECU/BUMPBOX etc to limit the cost. Talk to the manufacturers about a 15" wheel limit A limit on ET and Time of say 100mph and an appropriate time for that trap speed run 3 classes.
      'Stockkid' - stock wheelbase, stock cases, stock frame dot tyre.
      'Streetkids' - extended wheelbase with a limit of 6-8" of stretch. Dot tyre.allowing aftermarket engines/swaps so a rotax 125 kart engine or similar would be fine in an aprilla chassis or an aftermarket version of the CG125 engine in a Grom frame.
      'Topkids' custom chassis and engine with wheeliebars
      Have the Twins and Single 4 strokes allowed to enter so we can have mini baggers or wheelibar 'Harleys' runng alongside the extended swingarm Suzuki.
      Essentially set up so the kid can race the same type of bike as Mom or Dad.
      Shit I'd build a set of fairings to make my niece or goddaughter's z125 look like my Ninja or her gsxr125 look exactly like someone has taken my 'superstreet' 68" Busa or Bandit and shrunk it down for them right down to the Brocks Echaust and cycledrag sticker. Get her the leathers and lid for her birthday and bike for christmas and spend every testt and tune we can at the track so at 16 I can put her on a 600 and 17 throw her the keys to the blown busa for.a pass.

    My 70s pedal moped(highly modded) goes just as fast but gets there in under 4.5 secs and in California I only have to pay $20 once for registration no yearly fee. I am never getting a grom but I might get the exhaust because I swapped the old 2-cycle engine with a lifan 125cc (semi-auto grom clone engine with better bore x stroke 54x54 not like the grom 52.somethingX57 and my moped only weighs 134lbs wet and the grom 225lbe lol I have a rocketship compared to grom

      Brock Davidson Took me three hours if you have a Honda CT110 weighs about the same and you can just directly swap a pit bike engine in with it congratulations you have a 140cc bike engine powered Honda ct110 that would only take 35 minutes at most for me to swap that engine who has the time, most people but then again I can’t blame you for not knowing how easy it was.

      Drivers Obsession If yours does 73 with just an exhaust I want you to ride mine that only does 64 with more than just an exhaust in fact ive done almost everything you can do to the 125cc motor besides turbo it and I've got over a grand in performance parts and lightweight parts and even if im going downhill i will not reach a speed any higher than 64 mph so i dont get how in the world you do 73 with just an exhaust...what do you weigh 50 pounds and i want your exhaust if it does that much more in reaching a higher speed than all of my stuff combined....

      Yes it really does 73 most groms do mine is a 2015 and I have hotlap exhaust I will post a video showing my speed on my UA-cam this weekend it’s basically stock besides the exhaust and I’m lowered and stretched on ruckus forks

      I don’t get how yours won’t go at least 70 if you have all those parts into it how many miles do you have? I have 5000 and it’s due for its oil change and I still have stock intake box I want to get a chimera intake btw my top speed is 73 and it hits rev limiter so I want to get rid of the governer I’m sure it’ll go faster I weigh 176 and I’m 5 9 tall

    I have a scooter (scarabeo street) that goes as fast as this bike right here and I've spent only 200€ on it. Just a 70cc engine, a sito exhaust and second gears for top speed.

    • @jediknight1294
      @jediknight1294 4 роки тому

      The gearbox will be a HUGE PART of that. A C.V.T. Will eat something like half the crank horsepower.
      Swapping this motor to a conventional gearbox would massively improve the speed especially if you gave it 4 or 5 fairly long gears for an LSR run.
      Of course no replacement for displacement is obviously true.

    Personally I can't see the point making these things 5mph faster , If you want to go fast get a fast bike these aren't meant to be fast there meant to be fun which they are . I use mine on the back of my motorhome to get around from the campsites and it's great.

    • @BrockDavidson
      @BrockDavidson  4 роки тому

      It's not about how 'fast' they can go...it's about how much quicker they can accelerate...in traffic. In stock form my situational awareness told me that anything above 35-40 MPH in traffic was uncomfortable - simply due to the inability to quickly move away from cars/trouble. After our mods, my comfort zone moved to 50-55 MPH. Please check out this dyno chart: bit.ly/3hxqi9q peak HP in the higher revs is increased around 30% and peak torque is increased around 25%. On a bike that drops down to 6hp in the higher evs in stock form - that increase is giant and easily felt. If you are putting around 10 mph campgrounds - the stock config is fine.

    This is so disgusting that i want to puke. Especially the last part 9:09. Typical salesmen speech.
    Think twice before you spend your hard earned cash, on money hungry crooks in the form of a salesman that tell you all the things you want to hear. Study, read and learn. and what is known and confirmed.
    Rather than just listen to any guy telling you "This tube makes your motorbike get 5 HP more. Only at the cost of 169$! Buy it at my store!" And yes i looked at his store. Not gonna buy anything. Falls statements on parts is one reason. 169$ for a fucking tube and a pot filter, jesus christ.
    "Waterproof Short Ram Air Intake Kit" states "Optimized filter surface area provides more airflow, more power and more filtration" & "Can be cleaned using only compressed air" Worse filtration is the correct word, and you could easy damage a cotton filter with compressed air. Even K&N states that you should NOT clean it with compressed air. And i have seen the results myself. I could go on & on.
    One thing that i have learned is never trust a salesman. Especially his own "documentation" of performance. Anything can be tweaked to get a worse before and and a better after, with additional modifications that he doesn't tell you about. A graff doesn't proof anything from a salesman. The world is full of lies and falls marketing and crooks wearing sunglasses

      Wow @GhostRiderDK2 - your ignorance speaks volumes. I was going to delete your post, but I'm going to leave it up a while so that people can see who NOT to listen to.
      1. Anyone who purchases our Grom kit will not only feel the extra power, they will see on their speedo how much faster the bike is - facts don't lie.
      2. We don't even sell K&N filters (talk about marketing hype...). It would disintegrate if you tried to clean it with compressed air as it is constructed of surgical gauze. Yep, the same spindly crap you put over a pusy sore... (yes, that's an intended reference)
      We offer Sprint Filter - the polyester material is very strong and specifically designed to be cleaned with compressed air ONLY. No gentle cleaners, oil or waiting for it to dry so you can ride.
      Here are some FACTS on how well they filter also: www.brocksperformance.com/brocknm/templates/bpp1.aspx?articleid=829&zoneid=22
