7:04 That's actually very very realistic as the middle wheels don't have the flanges. This type of wheel was designed to go out over the track so they could go around tighter turns

Yep, is generally called a Blind Driver (as in applies traction to drive the locomotive but doesn't guide the loco round the curve.) Not sure on standard gauge, but Narrow gauge it was not uncommon for, on a x-8-x and larger locomotives, only the front and rear most drivers to be flanged, the rest blind.

There were plenty of standard gauge locomotives with blind drivers, especially on x-10-x locos and larger.

Fun fact: you can shift while placing a boiler to place it half a block higher, and it extends like normal. Also, liquid fuel functions like coal in a chest, it just makes the train accelerate faster and lose less speed on turns
I don't think that how it works, adding fuel in a train increase top speed in straight lines and curves, not acceleration, so from what we see in the video, they both accelerate at the same rate, and the track wasn't long enough to show the top speed difference
@@bablela26 It is currently bugged, it should function identical to coal in a chest. They were implemented to both make use of create's fuel_ticks tag that is used to mark items that trains can burn to go faster.
Man, I NEED them to add articulated segments. Having fully walk-through trains would be awesome and so useful.

The buffer stopping is not a bug. It’s a feature. You can move the buffer block with pistons to automate stopping of trains without it ruining schedules.
Ah okay that makes some sense I guess, but doesn’t that make them completely useless for decoration? I’ve wanted buffers just because it looks cool but if it sucks my train in and I have to use a piston to drive again, I’m definitely not using them lol
Ideally it should be controllable by redstone, just have them do nothing unless powered
@@Shalz it can be both. The buffer moving feature is for redstoners. The part where you can’t drive back out is an issue that is in the works of bieng addressed.

I love the added detail of the blind drivers in the middle of those large wheel sets.
On the sextuple axles, them going off the track is intentional, if you look closely at the middle 2 or 4, Those are probably blind drivers. Meaning they don't have a flange and are intended to slightly go off the rails
It's still looks weird, because then it should be the middle 2 or 4 that should slide off track and not the end wheels. How much should that be an issue is up to the builder.
Ironically those are the ones that stayed on the track.

You probably god damn right. And I like that it gives a kinda of stone age stage to steam and rails. Modpack creators would love this feature.

They should add all wood tracks that are super cheap to make but break relatively quickly.
Like on the logging railroads of New Zeeland that couldn't build steel tracks because they wouldn't be used for verry long.
That's actualy kinda useful, like in a mining bogey for example, and it would be nice if they withstanded a 2 passes of train bogeys and handcars would not damage them.

It is astonishing now, they really are a work of art. The older ones were so monotone and bulky, this ones are slim and original. But I must say, it would add so to the realism if they added an old one type of sprite in the middle of the new ones, like a diferent kind of particle that would have the same sprite of the new one, a lesser chance of spawning and greater size and transparency. It is just my opnion tho.

You should check out the Create Railway Navigator mod. It’s a small mod but it’s really useful when it comes to servers with massive train networks.
Ok, the Steam n' Rails team added boilers. Now what's missing is a firebox then we can have realistic trains.
Locomotive buffers are usually about 4-5 feet above the track, so that looks pretty much perfect.

I like how they slowly moving towards more complex and realistic trains. Especially fuel part, as well as simulated blocks on the train. I always was wondering why trains, as well as some other contraptions doesn't consume any kind of rotation. I will wait for it to develop further

I havent even played with Create much but even so i gotta say this addon mod feels like a REQUIREMENT to have. It's so fleshed out and useful and well made and 100% fully fits into the Create aesthetic
But it don't work with immersive portals and have issues with optifine. If they fix that every create modpack would have it. It would become a MUST.
@@danieltandello5074 Nobody cares about optifine anymore, almost every mod breaks with it and there are far superior alternatives
Small thing could try. Using a wrench you can alter the boilers front and back designs to different textures for decoration.
There is NO way that a casual Minecraft mod just CASUALLY uses Wyte notation (like 0-2-0 and 2-4-4, refers to unpowered leading-powered-unpowered trailing wheels on a train). The person making this mod HAS to be a train ENTHUSIAST.

Just stumbled across a mod called Create Railways Navigator (different from Track Map), not sure if it's worth a full video but definitely worth a look

If you think sextuple is crazy, IRL the Russians actually built essentially a septuple locomotive (4-14-4 wheel arrangement)
Someday imma get this mod and this add on, along with some other add ones to go with it, and I’ll build my favorite trains, like the S.P. G.S.-4, and the U.P. Big Boy

They've added proper boogies with the 0-10-0 style and stuff... you can build like proper irl trains with correct configuration like the flying Scotland which is 4-6-2
That update is so cool
The largest wheel arrangement for a steam locomotive, was 4-14-4 in Russia. That's a bogie either end and FOURTEEN powered wheels, literally it was so heavy it broke the track or when it didn't, it just straightened every bend...
This is the most coolest crate mod for steam and rails I am super excited this is amazing

You can press F3 + N to swap between your current game mode and spectator, its much easier than F3 + F4 tabbing imo

Seeing this video gave me a prima kind of joy
In the create mod, if you put coal in a barrel on a train, the train will become "fueled" the acceleration stays the same (thats why they seemed like the same speed), but "fueled" trains can go faster, which is what the fuel tanks is for (a liquid version of the barrel system)

I would find an electrical system for the trains combined with the create new age mod very interesting. (That it has an higher acceleration/top speed)

Shalz btw you dont need to use the F3 F4 to cycle between creative and spectator. You could just F3 N and that cycles between the last gamemode and spectator

Those buffers look like it those things at the docks where they tie a rope to it so the ships don’t move
YOOO they also fixed interactions with create: interactive addon, the camera doesnt flick when taking a sit on train, the train does not ignore the train buffer stop, and the bug that you cant use train controls is now fixed. but there is still a bug that when you relocate the train and it changes its direction the train controls think that the train is still facing the previous direction and if you press w it goes back and if you press s it goes forward (sry for bad english)
