This case is absolutely hilarious, but it does go to show that Hoyo (Genshin's team) will only ever listen if you have legit legal action to take against them.
If CN didn't have laws about post-nerfs (adjustments) when it came to limited characters (which precisely exist due to scummy practices like these), they would 100% just swipe this under the rug. See 3 wishes outrage, which was way larger in scale even in CN, but nothing was done about it because... It wasn't illegal.
If Hoyo wanted to play it smart, they would've put notice that Neuvilette has this bug and that will be fixed. That way nobody could accuse them of scam. But they didn't. and this specific bug was mass reported since beta, so there is no way Hoyo didn't knew about it. Especially with 7 months later from his release, whole rerun, and they only "fix" it now when Natlan character in the same role is about to drop. They did this with Barbara too when Nilou was releasing, but they could get away with it because she was a free 4*. Neuvilette was not. He's someone that average CN player more than payed for because f2p is dying breed over there.
Even Zhongoli thing was ignored until it got so big that the threat of them being accused for anti-China propaganda for making China God so weak, became too real for their liking so they panic fixed him... Which wasn't enough, so they did it again to shut everyone up before outrage got out of hand once more.
Tl;Dr: Daddy Hoyo won't listen to CN either unless they are dealing with the type of case that could get them in legal troubles
The whole Dehya situation was scummy as well. Making her kit terrible and have poor scaling and then putting her on the standard banner to take advantage of people that just wanted her.
I stopped playing Genshin after that and never went back.

They put her on the standard to excuse her terrible kit and bad stat scaling. But they still wanted squeeze any money from people so they took advantage of people that just wanted her.

When I buy a product from a company the company cannot go and take back my product that I am satisfied with and change it in any way they see fit. Since many dump loads of money on the characters (whales) hoyo cannot just make drastic changes like this post beta.
However I don’t think hoyo did this maliciously for Natlan, heck even if they did neither Mualani (hydro and most likely a dps) nor some other AoE dps will probably match a “fixed” Neuvi, let alone normal Neuvi, he is just turbo busted and very hard if not impossible to powercreep without making an identical character on a different element.

Funny how people were willing to go to court for the character that's a judge.
I think the reason why they reacted to harshly is because of how much Hoyo would ignore people and hope the problem dies down.Thing is,if you just ignore some peoples problem sure they would stop after a while but the feelings don't really go away. Next time you mess up the backlash will be harsher and if you keep ignoring it, the backlash will reach a point where stuff like this happens. It would be very very difficult to calm the player base next time you mess up since now they know what to do to make you listen. I geninely wonder what would happen at the Anniversary when they give the same amount as last year.
I saw someone else say that deal about the anniversary was pushed under the rug because there was no actual "law" against it, but in China apparently there is a law against changing "limited gacha characters," in other words 5 stars, after release. Which was the case here, and it was 7 months after his release when a bunch of players must have spent a lot to get him, the lawsuit wasn't more in reach than this i'm afraid.

Isn't reverting this fix a scam too? The tech is not possible for people playing with controllers. Maybe pulled for him to be able to use this feature of the character but because of the platform I'm on, I can't do it. That sounds pretty scummy to me and all controller users should report this so they can have equal access to this feature.

I honestly don't think hoyo would lose the case that it was a bug, it was some random mechanic that was never advertised or mentioned anywhere in his kit and it doesn't even work for console players, and you need a 3rd party software to do it.The scummy part though would be to keep this bug for the re run and then to try to patch it after. This shows that they knew of the bug existing but didn't care till another hydro dps came out.

If you see the list of players playing genshin ( in twitter post) , top 3 is Japan , S.Korea and The Philippines (ofc china is 1 in their own) but USA is nowhere near found in the top 25 countries playing genshin. So only small % are playing in the west

Something this vid did not mention was that were about to get a new hydro catalyst 5 star in 5.0 whos gonna do more dps than neuv. Hoyo probably also nerfed neuv so they could sell her. Thought they could wait for all of neuvs rerun and then sneak some nerfs and a 100 primos in, but they didnt expect a potential cn lawsuit.

Comparing the western "change the skin color" argument and the CN "revert one change in a character's kit" is wild, though. All hoyo has to do with Neuvillette is put a single line of code back in. With skin color changes, they have to redo artwork, re-render the full models and 5 star burst animations, cutscenes, edit static cutscenes, promotional material... Even if hoyo "listened to the western audience" this isn't an overnight change. So comparing the two is just asinine.

I genuinely think that this was a bug/exploit. The problem is that Hoyoverse took way too long to address it and even sold the character a second time over half a year later once people were used to the way he played. At that point, I'd consider it to be a silly and fun way to get absurd power in an easy single player game, and I can see how people would buy the character specifically for the ability to spin to win. By not dealing with the issue immediately, Hoyoverse essentially tried to sell an overpowered character and then nerf it once the banner was over.
I don’t have our Hydro Dragon. The only time I got to play his character is trial events. And as I play console, I never noticed anything wrong with his character. I certainly couldn’t do this fast 360 spin like the video showed back then.
Then again, free primos are free primos. Whatever, dood.
This proves once again that the CN community is the one with most authority which makes sense to be fair.
So this just confirms that CN players have 1000000x more authority over Hoyo decisions than the global players at this point. They could say they don’t like Diluc very much and Genshin would delete him from the game

Overall wasn’t quite as much of an issue compared to this, but it still was a thing that CN complained about that Hoyo caved and deleted and they also compensated CN very graciously then while Global who the event was for didn’t get shit.
As a wuwu player all I can say is there is still alot of work needs to be done on rewards after the release till now we have got total of 105 free pulls

He's a Main of mine at C2, and is completely useless now that he has been nerfed so badly. It’s the same with hi3, and likely the other 2 games. In hi3, global will, maybe if we’re lucky, get 60 crystals, but on the other side, when cn gets the same thing, they give 2800 crystals
