Gold Sarcophagus is still limited not because it's a slow searcher, it's because it activates cards that trigger when banished. It's essentially a free Branded Fusion when you banish Despian Comedy for instance.
I find it funny that most of the cards on this list are from Duel Monsters and GX, showcasing that as the years have gone by the anime has designed cards that virtually remain the same in the real world.

When a Level 10 or higher monster destroys a monster by battle, the controller of the destroyed monster takes 400 damage. While the TCG one reads: Level 10 or higher monsters on the field cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects. If a Level 10 or higher monster destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the GY: The player who controlled the destroyed monster takes 1000 damage. When this card on the field is destroyed by card effect and sent to the GY: You can add 1 DIVINE monster from your Deck to your hand. So basically anime version protects level 10 or higher monsters on the field from destruction effects and the 400 burn damage when it applies, while TCG gets added targeting protection, higher burn damage(with the minor restriction of the monster having to touch GY) and a searcher, big buff too, not a top but for sure an honorable mention 😊😊😊
Gold Sarcophagus is one of my favorite examples of storytelling in a Yu-Gi-Oh! card. It depicts a box similar to Yugi's puzzle box, and banishes any 1 card you desire from your Deck to get it in your grasp in due time, much like how the Millennium Puzzle granted Yugi's wish to have true friends in the early anime/manga. It's such an upgrade in both power level AND flavor.
In Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal Number C32: Shark Drake Veiss had a weaker effect than its TCG counterpart. In the anime you can only banish Fish monsters & it only reduces the targets attack by the banished monster’s. In the TCG you can banish any monster and it reduces the attack all the way to 0.
One card from the Zexal anime that I think got a bit of a boost is DZW - Chimera Cloth/Clad. In the anime, you could destroy a spell/trap if it was on the field and it doubled the equipped monster's atk if you took battle damage from an attack you declared with that monster. However, in order to use the spell/trap destruction, you must take up your normal summon and whilst it is equipped, the monster's effects are negated (so it's pretty pointless with Ultimate Leo). It's real life effect is also a lot easier to use since you don't need to take battle damage in order to use the effect, so any monster immune to battle destruction gets to take the same damage as a direct attack after the first one. Overall, I would be pretty happy if we got a retrain with the spell/trap destruction, but I'm glad it doesn't negate the monster's effects so it can still be used as a unique Ultimate Leo equip in case you wanna catch your opponent off guard.
In fairness Gold Sarc in anime would be pretty strong. Yugi has got to the finals of two tournaments and 3 of the people there were Mai, Kaiba and Joey. So it would be able to hard counter life half of his competition at key points.
If Gold Sarc was at 3, Necroface would probably take a hit again on the banlist for consistency purposes. As much as I would love to have 3 of both, I think only occasionally top-decking a Gold Sarc thats lucky enough to stack 2 or 3 Necroface effects off of it once in a blue moon is a lot better of a feeling than having it be a reliable strat in a deck. Necroface is very strong if you can use cards to make it consistent but there aren't a lot of them left that aren't Limited or versatile, as most cards like to banish face down now and/or target so using it offensively to limit card pool is a lot less reliable than its easily-negated recycling effect. It often needs to be played in 50-60 card banish decks, Gold Sarc x3 would be beautiful and destructive in so many ways but I want NEcroface to stay as far away from the banlist as possible, lol. It being at 2 in Master Duel sucks enough already, Yes, its my favorite card.
Sangan's a pretty big glow up. In the manga, he was just a Normal Monster Yugi used as a Defense Monster to stall a turn. He's later given the real life effect when Bakura plays him.
Gold Sarc will be banned before it gets unlimited. Konami doesn't make too many good cards that do something when banished or activate from the banished zone. Last time they did was with Thunder Dragons. Gold Sarc does not have any text that stipulates you can't activate the card you banished, so Gold Sarc can banish any card that has a beneficial banish effect.

It was played because it was essentially a banishing version of Foolish Burial and it would let you trigger your Dragon Rulers or, more recently, your Thunder Dragon effects. Could it be unlimited in 2024? Probably not; even though the decks that abused it have been powercrept pretty badly (as evidenced by all the rulers being unbanned) it can still generate too much advantage in the correct deck so leaving it a 1 is for the best.
