"Is God who He is because of who I am" . Those words have a big punch, you can knock yourself out with them.

The comment about Colleges giving in to the demands of students also has a LOT to do with the leadership and professors not wanting to give up their very comfortable lives to stand up for principles. You can be sure the calculation is "if we stand up to this and students walk away from out institution there goes our pay and benefits!". The same happens within schools where teachers won't stand up to crazy new policies because they don't want to risk their pay, their pensions, their benefits for life. Money and security are powerful motivators and it is actually a devious aspect of making sure people in education are well cared for because they are the same people who would be the final defense against unworkable policies and instead of putting their shoulders against the door, they just open the doors and say "welcome" for fear of risking it all.

Unfortunately my experience as a retired professor from a state run liberal university is that the professors there were just apathetic. I used to say that I often felt like I was getting beaten up in the parking lot and the full professors (who could not be touched) would pass by, say "Boy that shouldn't happen", then look at their watches and say "Oh, I need to get home for dinner." And mind you these were the "church going gang" confident of their salvation. Eric to his credit has been trying to call these "Christians" out.

If you love the world the love of the Father is no longer in it.

I worked with a seminary president a few years back who was something of a Johnny-One-Note when it came to how Christians should relate to the current society: "We must be winsome," he repeated ... and repeated ... and repeated. I would suggest that he had not yet correctly exegeted the culture in the new century. You try playing it winsome with the Devil and one thing is certain ... you won't win some. While you're busy being all smiley, he'll steal the your shorts. To be sure there is a time to be winsome, but it takes wisdom to discern it, and it is never wise to hold up that virtue as THE response to culture ... not if our Bible includes the 6th chapter of Ephesians.

Well said Eric Metaxas it takes strong moral principles that we must stand for , particularly as Christians we must Influence as many people as possible to guide them to Our Lord Jesus Christ. Because in the End we all face punishment or reward.

Did a lot of marketing/communication work with Christian colleges. The cultural drift was underway way back when. One exception was Grove City College.. I’m sure there are others, but in my experience that is one place that didn’t let the Ivy grow over their Christian roots.

What constitutes a "litmus" test regarding the use of money in the Bible? No money (only barter) or a judicious use of money for the greater good?. Obviously this is not a black vs white issue. Freedom is necessary of course, and woke totalitarianism does not pass the litmus test, or I would prefer, a screening test. However, Jesus taught us to love friends and foes. There may be issues that require some flexibilty, or at least a need to draw the veil of charity on them... The sorely needed attitude is that of intelligent dialogue, since many issues can be in the shades of gray area. For example, there are nice conversations out there that include non-christians as Ben Shapiro but that are intelligent and well meaning. Why not include intelligent agnostics or even atheists in the Faculty, as long as they do not dedicate themselves to try to demolish the Faith. If the Christians in the Faculty have built their Faith on solid foundations, and teach good courses on Theology grounded on the Scriptures and well researched History (including modern Archaeological evidence that shows that Noah's Flood did indeed happen, and explains the appearance of most Deserts in the world), then there should be no problem in inviting people with different ideas.

Those Christians, like me, who have a high view of Holy Scripture should always bear in mind that while the Bible is authoritative and infallible in all it says, our human interpretations of the text do not share that same infallibility. Humility and grace are necessary conditions when approaching God's truth - both his special and general truth. NEVERTHELESS, for truth to prevail in this fallen and broken world, a world where God’s truth - the ONLY truth - is contested, God's special truth or special revelation, must determine the rules of discovery (in the academy) and the lenses through which one sees the world. In other words, God’s special truth - that converges and centres on the cross and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ - informs and has precedence over God’s general truth (learned in the academy). But again, this is assuming the fallen and fallible human interpreter of the Bible is over the target.
