The Christians stuck their books on to some Jewish books, & the Mormons attached to them both, because the bar is not set high or low, but lacks existence.
I have a question.
These people don't read the comments much.
What is good or honorable about suggesting people travel best with one foot in fantasyland?
Since there is no god & religious beliefs have no quality-controls, aren't we selling snake oil?

For millennia, connotations of the word "God" have become so deteriorated. The terms Consciousness / Mind / Intelligence seem more relevant for these types of discussions. It seems that the concept of God is not experimentally testable. However, evidence for the effects of Consciousness / Mind / Intelligence are scientifically demonstrable.
The illogical, irrational, and unreasonable position of claiming that there is No Universal Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence (i.e. Atheism): The fallacy is the assumption that something is true (i.e. Universal Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence does not exist) unless proven otherwise. The Claimant making a negative claim (i.e. Universal Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence does not exist) cannot logically, rationally, and reasonably prove nonexistence. Because, for a Claimant to know that X does not exist would require the Claimant to possess 100% knowledge of all things with 100% certainty and 100% accuracy (i.e. omniscience).
Even mainstream secular scientists claim that approx. 95% of the Universe is still unknown (i.e. Dark Energy and Dark Matter). Of the remaining 5% of the Universe, only 0.0035% exists within the visible light spectrum which the human eye is capable of observing. Moreover, of all that is made of atoms and capable of being observed in this "Material" universe, 99.999999999% is actually empty space (i.e. "Non-material"). Therefore, there is much, much more that humanity does not know about the Universe and Reality than it does know. Based on just this information, the position of claiming to be Atheist is shown to be illogical, irrational and unreasonable.

Modern scientific discoveries in Genetics (i.e. biology) have shown that functional / coded / digital Information (i.e. DNA code) is at the core of All Biological Systems. Without functional / coded / digital information, there is No biology. The only known source (i.e. cause) in the universe that has been Observed (i.e. Scientific Method) in nature to be capable of producing functional / coded / digital information, such as that found even in the most primitive biological systems, is mind / consciousness / intelligence.
The fact that DNA / genes (biological coded information) exists at all shows that a Consciousness-'Intelligence-Mind' is involved in the initial introduction and subsequent propagation of living systems. Un-directed random material natural processes have never been observed in nature or experimentally demonstrated to be capable of producing Functional / Coded / Digital information such as that required for biological systems, even at the most primitive levels of biological life.

Language is scientifically proven to be the product of only Mind/ Consciousness / Intelligence.
Laws of the Universe exist Independent of anyone's personal beliefs in the existence of the Laws of the Universe. Just as man-made laws govern society globally, Universal Laws govern the entire Universe. Un-directed random material natural processes have never been observed in nature or experimentally demonstrated to be capable of producing any form of laws. As scientifically confirmed, non-material laws are the product of only Mind / Consciousness / Intelligence.
The “World’s Most Notorious Atheist” and World’s Icon and Champion Advocate for Atheism for over 50 years, Antony Flew, finally concluded, *_“I now believe that the universe was brought into existence by an infinite Intelligence. I believe that this universe’s intricate laws manifest what scientists have called the Mind of God. I believe that life and reproduction originate in a divine Source. Why do I believe this, given that I expounded and defended atheism for more than a half century? The short answer is this: this is the world picture, as I see it, that has emerged from MODERN SCIENCE.”_*
1) Please identify the following in 1JOHN 4:1-3 (KJV):
A) The SPIRIT THAT IS OF GOD/PRO-CHRIST (1John 4:2).
B) The spirit of antichrist/false prophets (1John 4:3).
2) 1JOHN 4:1-3 is a COMMAND which must be abided on so as not to be deceived by antichrists/false prophets (1John 4:3) who are many in the world (1John 4::1).
If you read the “Molecular Biology of the Gene”, you would be completely blown away by the genius of God in the creation of all living things. I knew then, as a biologist, that God is real and He is so incredibly creative beyond our human imagination. That was the basis God used to build my faith as I reached out for His Word and began to know Him personally through His Son.
I was born into a family with a strong faith orientation, so I suppose I was primed to believe almost from birth.
Even so, I can tell you that the knowledge I gained as a biology major over 50 years ago did nothing but inform and buttress my faith; it had no effect in the direction of eroding my faith.
I never found the Urey-Miller experiments very convincing with regard to explaining the origin of life, and I never fully assented to the idea that evolution was driven by random mutations.
The utterly astounding discoveries re the complexity of life since my degree in 1972, most of which I am only peripherally acquainted if at all, only strengthen my faith that God exists, and that He is creatively awesome beyond description.

I taught a middle school / high school church youth group many years ago. I had this young kid who had just started coming. He didn't engage often, but you could tell he was always listening. I asked the group once how they would describe the Trinity to their friends. Of course, I got a lot of silence and side glances as the kids were waiting to see who would be brave enough to give it a go. This same kid, who hadn't engaged much before, had a true "mic drop" moment. He said, "Well, it's like math. 1+1+1 is 3, but 1x1x1 is 1. Regardless, 1 is still 1. I (and presumably everyone else) was stunned. I hope Mr. Lennox sees this comment as I hope it will tickle his fancy with mathematics.
I think the main issue with atheism and evolutionary beliefs is that they lack humility so they struggle to get their heads around that there is a superior divine being that rules the universe!

You have God the Father, Yah (1), God the Son, Jesus Christ of Nazareth (1) and God the Holy Spirit (1). Put them together and you might think you have three separate entities that work independently, and yet this brilliant young man has worked out that even though the three persons of the Godhead are separate, they are not independent of each other. 1x1x1 =1. The three are one.

WHAT IS GRAVITY?
GRAVITY is something created by GOD. The basic idea is one can feel and understand something exist without the need to look for information from our 5 senses. Learn to read the SIGNS, its all around us.
Many people including Muslims forget that the early scholars of Islam were indeed most critical of the concepts that Islam is founded upon. They have already dealt with variations of these same questions such as the Gravity. Gravity is a label we have given to a force that is for all intents and purposes completely and absolutely elusive to all of our senses and equipment. We only know it exists by observing the behavior of everything it influenced.
The vestibular organs of our inner ear send gravity directly, but also as a deviation from the vertical and self-motion. Also without this sense one won't have balance and will be falling all of the time.
Indeed, atheism isn't a new thing but its trendy today. Atheism lows one to give into your personal wants without holding oneself accountable.

My ex brother in law used to research proteins at UCL and told me that the more he studied them the more complex their make up became. He doubted that humans would ever get to know exactly how they work.

1. These talk about Israel being gathered from the nations they were scattered in 70 AD by the Roman army because of their bad behavior (Luke 13:33, 34 and Matthew 24:2):
Ezek 11:17: "Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel."
Ezek 20:41-42: "I will accept you with your sweet savor, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers."
Am 9:14-15: "And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. Zeph 3:19-20: "Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. Besides this, the Bible teaches the wonderful plan of God, not what you hear in churches:
1. Salvation for all:
Gen 22:18: "And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice."
Luk 2:10-11: "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord."
Acts 3:19-21: "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."
2. There is no hell, death is like sleep because you aren't conscious in death and people will be raised from death:
Lam 3:31-33: "For the Lord will not cast off forever: But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men."
Eccl 9:10: "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
God said the penalty for sin is death, not eternal torture. Satan said you won't die. Who do we trust?
Rom 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Gen 3:1,4: "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? … And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:"
3. There is no trinity
1Tim 2:5: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"
John 17:3: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
1Cor 8:6: "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him."
Eph 4:5-6: "One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."
Gal 3:20: "Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one."

Context: These people are complete savages whose beliefs will never change (as God is all-knowing) so they must not be allowed to permeate the World. Do you think Hitler, Mao, Stalin, etc were bad? These people make them look like Ghandi. God didn't want them to spread like a disease to humanity. Imagine if Aztecs were still practicing today. Sacrificing children every day so the sun would rise in the morning. You think that would be a good thing?

@@DennisMerwood-xk8wpYou have the wrong mindset concerning God. You're expecting God to reveal Himself to YOU? Not gonna happen. It doesn't work that way. You seek after HIM. That's how it works. God is not obligated to reveal Himself to anyone. But there is a promise. If you truly seek Him with a sincere, honest and pure heart, He WILL reveal Himself to you. See, true Christians aren't Christians because of blind faith or intellectual belief. True Christians are Christians because they seeked after God with all of their heart. Wanting to love Him. To know Him. To serve Him. To submit everything to Him 100%. That's why we have a relationship with Him. Because He revealed Himself to us. I think the issue with most Atheists (not all but most) isn't a "lack of evidence" thing. I think the main issue is because they don't WANT God to exist. They simply don't WANT to submit to God if He is real. That would mean they would have to give up a lot of the things they are doing that is wrong. Let me ask you a question, if Christianity was true, would you be a Christian? If God were to appear to you in front of your face in a dramatic bolt of lighting and said "I'm God. I exist. Here I am." What would you do with that intellectual belief? Would you sincerely be willing to give up your sins and your way of living for God's Ways? To serve Him and love Him for the rest of your life? Or would your attitude be like "Wow. I was wrong. You really do exist God." Then just go on with your life and operate as if He doesn't exist? If your response would be the second option, then by no means is God going to reveal Himself to you. He doesn't care about someone's intellectual belief. He wants your HEART. He wants a RELATIONSHIP.

When inventing a "God", the most important thing is to claim it is invisible, inaudible, and imperceptible in every way. Otherwise, people will become skeptical when it appears to no one, is silent and does nothing.
A man of science reads many books and knows he must learn more, while a Christain believer partly reads one very old book with unknown authors, that has been edited 100's times, and thinks he knows everything!
Religion is just an evolution of superstition. Any critical thinker can see that it makes far more sense that all religions are just configments of man's wild imaginations There have been 100's of "Gods". All man made.
Christians every day base their religion on superstition and, with no evidence for the existence of their "God", never ask themselves "Why is my "God" real when all the others before them weren't?"
I contend that you are an atheist just like me. I just believe in one fewer "God" than you do Joe.

Around the 8:00 mark Mr. Lennox starts talking about the definition of proof and how it has culturally evolved to only include mathematical proofs. In his book "The Psychology of Totalitarianism" Matthew Desmet discusses this change. I love Eric's phrase "we have to redeem the ground in the culture". That's a key observation. So many words and even ideas have been redefined, co-opted, and made powerless that if we are to have these discussions we need to return to the original definitions. When a word means different things to two people in a conversation or debate, there is no communication.

There wasn't too much common sense here, tbh.
He opens with a God-of-the-gap argument, only to dismiss the greek gods 5 minutes later because they are gods-of-the gaps.
He names DNA as a piece of evidence that points towards a creator by comparing it to language even though language itself actually evolved. No one sat down and said to themselves: "Ok, that's called a tree, that's called a house, that's called the sky etc." The sounds our ancestors made evolved alongside them and turned into more and more complex sounds and later words, as their brains grew.
He wants to follow the evidence where it leads. That's commendable, that's the right thing to do. However, I'm unaware of a single piece of evidence pointing towards a Christian God specifically. There is evidence that could be evaluated as pointing towards a creator, but not what kind of creator, and usually these pieces of evidence could just as well have a naturalistic explanation, if viewed from a different angle. So how is him believing in a christian god "following the evidence where it leads"? It's just as biased as desperately clinging to a naturalistic explanation.

The painting analogy also was extraordinarily flimsy.
Really the only really sensible things said here were that
a) science and belief in acreator don't have to be sperated: I as an agnostic don't do it. I think it's perfectly reasonable to accept that a creator of some sort has caused the Big Bang. However, a Christian God cannot exist. It's impossible.
b) the explanation about the ambiguity of proof. That was spot on.

It's not God who supressed these information, humans did - and I think it's because of gaining/retaining power and authority over people.
(Fallen angels had higher knowledge that God gave them, and that's why God's punishment towards them was so immediate and swift - meaning, we are surrounded with so much evil because mankind is stupid as f** and that's why God is patient.)

I wouldn't say overwhelming archaeological evidence. The further back we go the less we have. Like Exodus, we have no proof of Moses or a large Exodus, Atheists and Chiristians agree, watch Sean McDowell. We aren't even sure who the pharaoh was. No proof of Samson. No proof of Solomon. No proof of other biblical characters unless it references external rulers like Cyrus, Xerxes, Nebuchadnezzar, Senacharib... but the associated biblical characters aren't found. For example, Cyrus doesn't give credit to YHWH but to Marduk instead on the Cyrus Cylinder but a biblical character was supposed to have such influence on him. Then we have sooner problems like the census during Jesus birth. Overwhelming, No. Some that do correspond nicely, yes.
Also just in case, if you're thinking Ron Wyatt he was debunked as fraudulent. Christian sites like Answer in Genesis don't find him "credible" as they nicely put it. I think Sean McDowell's channel referenced the false findings; I don't know if they mention his Ron's name.

Science is the best intellectual mechanism humanity has ever discovered for discovering and aligning ourselves with the physical laws of our universe. Recognizing and aligning ourselves with the moral truth of our universe is the job of religion. Both the physical laws and moral laws are manifestations of a transcendent reality commonly known as God. Failure to align ourselves with both sets of laws causes untold human suffering.
A transcendent reality known as God? Which God? Explain his or her attributes to me. And tell me why a belief in this God is necessary to living a moral life.
Oh and while you are at it, tell us the morality of forbidding shellfish and mixed garments but not slavery.

Religion is man's attempt to understand God through our own limited capacity and of course it will fail. I am actually vegetarian (because I have fundamental issues with the way we farm animals, destroy the oceans by factory fishing, create huge welfare issues for farmed fish etc). However, it is clear in the Bible that the animals and plants of the world were given for humans to rule over, and steward. But God intended that to be done responsibly with care for the environment (stewardship)
Man was not created as just another animal, we are the pinnacle of creation, made in God's likeness. There is nothing narcissistic about that.
In fact, the atheistic society we live in is far more narcissistic than the average Christian- a society where "my needs", "my sexuality", "my rights", "my luxury holiday/car/ house/ possessions/clothes/ plastic surgery etc" "my desire to sleep with whoever I want , when I want" (providing they agree), all these trump the needs of those people starving, those people who are exploited making the expensive clothes in slave labour, those people whose environments are being destroyed by our need to eat meat whenever we feel like it, those kids whose parents divorce because when you take away God from a marriage, there is nothing to keep it together except a promise which has no consequences if we break it.
So Christians I would contend are almost certainly not the biggest narcissists in society. It is the secular world.
Most of the early hospitals, schools, charities, childrens homes etc were originally set up by Christians, and Christians I am guessing will contribute far more to charity than the average person.
Christians are not perfect, but if you take God out of the world, aren't you just creating a society where having dubious morals has no consequence, because as long as you don't break the law, it really doesn't matter how you live your life?

No Cosmologist, Physicist,or Astronomer will ever be able to disprove the existence of God.
Even Stephen Hawking near the end of his life acknowledged the existence of God.
There was a video on UA-cam where Stephen Hawking said to Richard Dawkins "why are you obsessed with God?"
What is your point. Nobody can prove anything does not exist. Can you proof pink, yellow spotted elephants do not exist. The real question is can you provide any evidence that god exists. Stephen Hawking did not acknowledge the existence of God.

When I was studying Biophysics, the processes that occur in forming even simple molecules always took me back to God. Yes, we can explain HOW some processes work, but WHY was never addressed. Well, one popular explanation was "it's a random process", which describes nothing.
Study evolutionary biology and you will find out why random processes work just fine.
What causes rain ? As always, the best answer is in the Bible.
"The windows of Heaven were opened and the rain was upon the earth".

Modern Quantum Physics has shown that reality is based on probability:
A statistical impossibility is defined as “a probability that is so low as to not be worthy of mentioning. Sometimes it is quoted as 1/10^50 although the cutoff is inherently arbitrary. Although not truly impossible the probability is low enough so as to not bear mention in a Rational, Reasonable argument." The probability of finding one particular atom out of all of the atoms in the universe has been estimated to be 1/10^80. The probability of just one (1) functional 150 amino acid protein chain forming by chance is 1/10^164. It has been calculated that the probability of DNA forming by chance is 1/10^119,000. The probability of random chance protein-protein linkages in a cell is 1/10^79,000,000,000. Based on just these three cellular components, it would be far more Rational and Reasonable to conclude that the cell was not formed by un-directed random natural processes. Note: Abiogenesis Hypothesis posits that un-directed random natural processes, i.e. random chance formation, of molecules led to living organisms. Natural selection has no effect on individual atoms and molecules on the micro scale in a prebiotic environment. (*For reference, peptides/proteins can vary in size from 3 amino acid chains to 34,000 amino acid chains. Some scientists consider 300-400 amino acid protein chains to be the average size. There are 42,000,000 protein molecules in just one (1) simple cell, each protein requiring precise assembly. There are approx. 30,000,000,000,000 cells in the human body.)
Of all the physical laws and constants, just the Cosmological Constant alone is tuned to a level of 1/10^120; not to mention the fine-tuning of the Mass-Energy distribution of early universe which is 1/10^10^123. Therefore, in the fine-tuning argument, it would be more Rational and Reasonable to conclude that the multi-verse is not the correct answer. On the other hand, it has been scientifically proven numerous times that Consciousness does indeed collapse the wave function to cause information waves of probability/potentiality to become particle/matter with 1/1 probability. A rational and reasonable person could therefore conclude that the answer is consciousness.
A "Miracle" is considered to be an event with a probability of occurrence of 1/10^6. Abiogenesis, RNA World Hypothesis, and Multiverse would all far, far, far exceed any "Miracle". Yet, these extremely irrational and unreasonable hypotheses are what some of the world’s top scientists ‘must’ believe in because of a prior commitment to a strictly arbitrary, subjective, biased, narrow, limiting, materialistic ideology / worldview.
Every idea, number, concept, thought, theory, mathematical equation, abstraction, qualia, etc. existing within and expressed by anyone is "Immaterial" or "Non-material". The very idea or concept of "Materialism" is an immaterial entity and by it's own definition does not exist. Modern science seems to be stuck in archaic, subjective, biased, incomplete ideologies that have inadequately attempted to define the "nature of reality" or the "reality of nature" for millennia. A Paradigm Shift in ‘Science’ is needed for humanity to advance. A major part of this Science Paradigm Shift would be the formal acknowledgment by the scientific community of the existence of "Immaterial" or "Non-material" entities as verified and confirmed by observation of the universe and discoveries in Quantum Physics.)

Science: The study of how God did it. Whether one believes in God or not, the work of science continues. My guess is that the atheist scientists are worried not only for their standing in society, but also worry about losing grant money for their research.
