- Steve Chettle was one of the unsung members of the Nottingham Forest side of the 1990’s. He played more than 500 games for Forest, under Brian Clough, Frank Clark, Dave Bassett etc. Here’s his story of his time at The City Ground - where he played in the Premier League, Championship and Europe.

I'm a Leeds fan, but as far as I'm concerned, Brian Clough was the absolute greatest. I absolutely love these interviews, so refreshing, all the old Cloughie stories are well known, but there are some gems here! keep em coming Mr Chippers 😍
Very kind, thank you. Glad you’re enjoying them!
I often forget Chettle was an integral part of that great mid 90’s team. Underrated and reliable
I clearly remember that side and how good they was
Love chetts, quality player, one of my favourites to watch growing up and met him a few times too he's a properly decent guy always takes the time to speak to forest fans
Forest legend, great guy
Steve Chettle was and still is massively underrated. He was as good as anyone around in his position at the time. A class act on the pitch and loyal to his club.
Brilliant again Chippers! Love Chett, genuine legend of the club who never let us down, ever. Chett mentioned Neil Webb, would love to hear from him, as don't think I've seen any interview anywhere with him about his time at Forest. What a player he was.
I agree, Neil Webb was my fave at the time in a Roy Keane position he was incredible for us along with Ian Woan and Lars Bohinen too. All forward thinkers like the new crop of lads who try not to pass back too much which I think is why they are so well loved as they are positive in their movements, unlike England at the mo who are constantly passing backwards and sideways or sideways and backwards, nothing positive to add about them sadly!
Chett's absolute legend ❤
Another great interview Chippers! I'd love to hear an interview with Ben Watson, such an underrated player for us
great bloke see him alot in victoria centre in nottingham think he was a underated centre back and could score goals scored some cracking goals for a centre back.
Chetts was a solid and dependable player and a great servant to the Reds
Very much agree…. one of the reasons I was so keen to get him on.
My brother is still a Massive Forest fan so growing up in my house late 80s early 90s I saw a lot of them on tv,up there challenging and winning trophies. Chettle reminded us of Rob Lowe pmsl. John Barnes always tore him up though, lil,im a LFC fan. Soft spot fir Forest though great c em bk up.
Another great interview again chippers. Chett mentioned collymore how about interviewing him I bet he’s got some great stories 👍
He’s agreed to do it, we’re just trying to sort times…
Always remember his goal in the Olympic Stadium in THAT yellow away kit
My fave kit that yellow number, it was awesome, unlike anything else at the time
Love Chettle. What an absolute Forest star.
Very underrated I reckon Skip…. Don’t forget to subscribe to the channel for free, to see more videos from the past and future come up on your UA-cam feed. Cheers!!
Great servant..
Love how you mentioned Joe Worrall, but at Forest, I would also pick out Ryan Yates who may also not be the most skilled of footballers however he had the heart of a real warrior and worked as hard as anyone just like Psycho did! He deserves all the recognition he has had this season but he still has his detractors which in my opinion is a real tragedy and travesty because he was so good as a player and works exceptionally hard and wears his heart on his sleeve too. He has the never say die attitude too! He deserves all the plaudits and recognition he receives as he has been superb!
Yeah I think we mentioned Worrall, because he plays in Chetts position. But agree re Yates… top, top guy as well.
Thanks Chippers as yes I realised that was the reason but after the season we have had, most of the squad deserve a mention, however Yatesy has been so good that even his detractors have stepped over to the dark side with him, saying he is our most improved player in the squad. I have always liked him though because of the fact he plays wearing his heart on his sleeve all the time! Doesn't matter that he isn't the most technical player around but he is determined and incredibly hard working and always has been, hence the reason I have always respected and liked him as a Forest Player!
Thanks
That’s really kind of you Taylor, and much appreciated…. thank you
I was around over that 5 year period that our Chett speaks about, it was my golden era that I still pine for today and make no apologies for going on about. They were truly great times, not just the cups but playing the top teams of the day and sometimes, beating them. The 91 FA cup loss still hurts though. Thank god that some good times could be on the horizon again.
I always feel it’s a time that gets overlooked a little bit, given the success of the European Cup teams before it… but you’d definitely settle for it these days eh?!
Chetts was a great player for us. Should easily have gotten England recognition too, many worse defenders than him got called up. Never forget his goal v Bayern in the 1995/96 quarter final. It gave me confidence we could get through… for a week or so!
#FORESTLEGEND
The fa cup was all day 😢
John Barnes must of been the best player he ever played against and the best team he ever played against must of been the Liverpool team that beat them five nil at Anfield.
Tom Finney said it was the best team performance he had ever seen.
Yeah I think he mentioned playing against Barnes… don’t forget to subscribe for free Tom, to see past and future videos pop up on your feed. Cheers!
Steve Chettle and Colin Cooper
Do you know when this one will be loaded in the members tab for bronze members?
My apologies Neil - I usually do it at the same time as when I send out the non members version, but it slipped my mind this time. It’s done now, so you should have access now on the membership tab. Cheers.
@@SportChippers thanks, Robin. I decided I couldn't wait 😊
Was that the game with basil Boil and anglomar

Loving the videos chippers, just makes me smile listening to the stories about Clough, I had the pleasure of meeting him once, he told me I had a daft name!
He was our Ryan Giggs. Solid ,reliable, dependent. awesome player .
Can you talk to the Dawson's Brothers
Don't get players like that now
