You think I'll listen to one of MCs stories on Brian Clough and you cannot help but listen to every story, and you're left in awe of just how incredible the bloke was, they'll never be another Brian Clough for eccentricity or sheer class, my team Mansfield is currently enjoying success with his 'chip off the old block' son Nigel and we're truly privileged because anybody who followed his Dad's ways can see his son has some of his football principles etc, and 'at the time of writing this' something good is happening because we're 17 matches unbeaten! I am not a Forest fan at all, but Mark Crossley is one bloody interesting bloke, and Brian Clough, his stories about Derby and Forest are legendary. Brilliant.
I forgot to say in my last post. I was at the last game Brian ever managed. It was at my home town of Ipswich. It was a honour to be there, to pay homage to a true legend of the beautiful game. When the great man came onto the pitch, everyone stood and gave a standing ovation. One of my greatest memories. RIP Cloughie.
I was there too. As a fellow Ipswich supporter, I can add that not only did the whole ground give him a standing ovation, but we also sang his name. To which I believe Cloughie called us mad! 😂😂 A true legend.
Where the Dell once stood in Southampton there is a short “no through road” called Mark Crossley Way. I think it was named in honour of Mark being the only keeper to stop a Matt Le Tissier penalty.

Back in the 90s I had trial at Luton, Mark was on lone, what a true gent he was, Bonetti ( The Cat ) was in charge of us keepers, he was such a lovely lovely man to speak to, I must say tho that I was 28 or 29 then, I was with St Albans at the time, even Bonetti said I was Fitter than Mark, but unfortunately not match fit as it turned out. I had only recently come back back from America. It was a real privilege to train with these guys, I'm sure Mark won't remember our chat, but he was a larger than life hero ! Lovely to hear his comments of Brian and how he went about his business. Happy memories of football and glad I was there on the day.
Norm is just a thoroughly decent bloke. Was stood behind him in the Trent End the night of his debut. What a guy - and all of his achievements since are well deserved. A City Ground Legend. Thanks Norm
Great to listen to him. Was always a favourite of mine as a kid, wearing the yellow goalkeeper jersey! Pleased to hear he still has so much affection for the club and the city too. Thanks for the good times, Norm!
What a great bloke Mark is. He was a great keeper, and comes across as a very modest, funny, and friendly fella. It is a brilliant piece of interviewing, which I thoughly enjoyed watching. Thank you. 👍
Can't stop laughing at those first few stories, and loving the respect with which they were told. Respect to all Cloughie and Forest fans from West Cork, Ireland.
So proud of Crossley, for the career he’s had. He’s from hoyland, and I’m from the next village, hoyland common. My best mate knew him and played with him at one point. Jags were massive round our area. Well proud of the guy! Tells a great story, too!
Mark, like many of us in our working life just want to be respected & appreciated by the manager or company we work for. David Platt was a novice at management & especially man management, he was the wrong fit & I believe he didn’t understand what Forest were about. I am so pleased we’ve got Steve Cooper because he has encapsulated & revived the true ethos embedded in Nottingham Forest football club. Thanks Mark for all you’ve helped Forest achieve, you were very much appreciated by the masses.
What a guy Norm is. His first team that his Dad founded is still going strong, now a big grassroots club called Hoyland Common Falcons and a feeder club for Barnsley FC. As a coach there myself he still continues to lend his support to things and speaks fondly of where it all began. See you at our end of season presentation Norm, the lads will be buzzing.

Spot on Paul…
Could listen to Mark all day. Great to hear him esp on Brian Clough.
Thanks for listening, I agree!
Remember watching you from the Trent End under the Gaffer Norm, memories I will treasure forever,
Come on Forest 👍👍👍😁
Big Norm, confirming what we all thought about platt! Loved watching Big Norm growing up as fan and now, as a father/grandfather, having not but respect for him as a human being.
Loyalty before money! Unheard of nowadays. Lovely interview. Clough! The best manager that England never had because the FA were frightened. Same happened to Harry Redknapp
Reds legend. The only testimonial I’ve been too. Seems to be something which is dying out! Great work Chippers.
Thanks Philip, loved speaking to Norm - some great impressions and stories. You’d be very welcome in the club btw! 😉 ua-cam.com/channels/silRwvO-yAAbMgcCuXmvow.htmljoin
Great interview, love Norm to bits, forest were my 2nd team in the 90s cos of cloughie, great stories.
Love the impressions! Thanks Squishy!
You've done some great interviews but this has to be the best to date. Norm almost had me crying with laughter with some of his anicdotes especially about the non league side.
Thanks Mike, very kind. Don’t forget to subscribe for free to see more, or maybe even join the club? ua-cam.com/channels/silRwvO-yAAbMgcCuXmvow.htmljoin
Memories of my youth listening to two of my heroes 😁
Thanks Ez!
Not a forest fan but respect to Mark. Really nice, honest guy who tells a great story. Pity he was treated shabbily at the end. Makes you wonder how many other football stories in the press have been...ahem....."embellished".
Cheers Tony, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic interview, one of my best forest players ... All you need now is sir Franz Carr on
Great suggestion!
Thanks Chippers and thanks Mark for the great interview
No worries Sempa - don’t forget to subscribe to see all the past and future videos on your feed!
I love this story, every time I hear it.
I don't know if he is an after dinner speaker but if he isn't then he should be! Wonderful
I met platt in a bookies in Crewe jumping up and down with Blisset 12/1 winner with 2 quid on it, then later in a pub when he'd made big time and he was Arrogant big time,
