One of my beloved cats would meow multiple times every morning when my girlfriend would come out of our bedroom. It seriously sounded like "Oh, hey, Hi!!! I've been waiting for you. Did you have a good night of sleep? what did you dream of?" like so many meows with a bunch of questions marks at the end lol. Then whenever I'd wake up later on, I'd immediately hear him jump from wherever he was, run in my direction, and just start to hang out :). I love and miss that cat....and all cats I've ever had the chance of sharing my life with.....I'm in my mid 30s and that is the very first time I've spent a year without cats and I'm so very depressed lol.
Both of our cats have their own, _distinct_ "vocabulary" of meows. We have gotten to understand what every type means. I know they're happy about that; that they've taught us their "language"! 😹👍🏻
I always wonder what my cat must think about me meowing back at him. 🤔 Are we having a full on conversation that neither one understands, or does he wonder "WTF is this crazy lady saying/doing"? 😂
My favorite thing about cats is they are great judges of (human) character in general. If I see a cat go straight up to someone I am a lot more inclined to place some level of trust in that human. Cats are one big furry open nerve, so I have no doubt cats can feel vibes and maybe even perceive a human "aura" that no human could possibly detect without some kind of instrument. For instance I doubt my cat would walk right up to Charles Manson or the BTK killer - why? Bad aura!
It's indeed remarkable how cats seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to judging human character. I totally get what you mean about trusting someone a bit more if a cat takes an immediate liking to them. Cats are incredibly sensitive and perceptive creatures, almost like furry little barometers of human nature. 🐱💕🔮
My cat mostly utters a very short meow if I do not recognise that she wants to go outside. Usually she just sits in front of the door and looks at me. Quite seldom when I do not give her food in time.
My cat dot kind of barks at me.......ruff.....she has her own littler box and I even keep her food on the otherside of my bed . So why does she "bark" at me?
This is just another communication technique of your cat; just another of your cat's vocalizations. Since your cat is satisfied and content, it's an acknowledgement vocalization. Our black cat Fritos makes a similar sound sometimes, like a "rumpf" sound. 😸

My furbaby has a specific meow for me and she did for my mum before mum passed. I call them mum meow and Nana meow 😸
The personalized meow is so funny because she is very nice to everyone especially to my mom but yells at me every time she sees me 💀
Rather than meowing, my cat will noisily shove the water bowl around on the floor when she wants it refilled.
Cracking the 'meow-mystery'! Understanding cat talk brings us closer. 🐱🗣

Meow!
Why hello there! One hopes all is well.
Cats meow cause they want food, want pets, acknowledgement, want to show you something or to be an a$$.
