excellent review, I do have a 2008 MDX with 252K on it, drive, looks and perform like new. Honda made every day good vehicles and I'm a Toyota guy. I you want to have fun on a race car, go ahead and rent one.
@@moellersgrl I have an 11 MDX Adv+Ent since 2014 with +150,000 miles now. Routine schedule maint with full syn oil changes every +/- 9000 miles, 1X trans/X-fer case/sh-awd service every 30k, brake fluid every 3 years, tire rotation/balance every oil change, cabin/engine filter every 20k-25k, P/S fluid every 100k, and timing belt service every 105k (serpentine kit, timing belt, water pump, coolant, spark plugs, oil change). I've been holding steady at 1.5 qts per 9000 miles for oil consumption.
It may not be exciting in comparison to the other german suvs but its heck more damn reliable. When im driving on the highway most of the cars I see on the side of the road are either Audi or Bmw. Id rather smile in MDX then cry in an X5.
The 07-09 Sport and 10-13 Adv MDX had larger front/rear stabilizer bars, magnetic struts/shocks for the two setting Active Damper System with Comfort or Sport modes, and 19 inch rims/tires for a more sporty ride.
2007 mdx sport owner kind of a harsh review imho i've had both german and japanese cars most of my driving life and the germans build them tighter and nicer perhaps but why is it that my japanese sunroofs always work along with pretty much everything else and german we'll never had such luck. also the handling of the mdx is quite amazing. neutral handling in a giant pig of an suv! quite an achievement! and the sh awd is not only great in bad weather but just amazing in the twists and turns. but yeah it is still a honda underneath it all... that is actually it's best attribute. reliability!!! not for everybody i guess :) tj's for the video tho👍🏼
Not an ashtray!🤣 Just bought a 2010. Yes ive heard about the oil burning. Haven't had any problems yet. Oil is cheap! So far im loving it. Would i get a newer model? Maybe, but can't afford that! I was just looking for something like me. Old and dependable!🤣
Hey Mike, how do you feel between the 2nd gen MDX and RX350? I'm deciding between the two. Or do you have another model you like more? I'm looking for an affordable luxury AWD compact suv, that's also relatively reliable. I think the MDX and RX350 fit that perfectly, but not sure what the major differences to consider are. What are your takes?
If you need a third row seat or extra space I'd go with the MDX - otherwise I like the RX350 more. A higher end trim package of the Subaru Outback might be worth a look too.
The 2008 mdx with the sport and tech package come with an active dampening suspension system that can change to a sharper sport handling mode and it would fix everything you felt was lacking TRUST ME! even though down the road to replace the sport suspension dampening system for all four corners is like $2k😅
I have this car, same model. Recently the movement started to be bad when I'm in motion. I want to know if the radiator fan is suppose to be on steady while the car is ON. Please advise
the J37 is great. The mdx for that time is actually one of the fastest "large" suvs in the segment maybe its because you didnt take it high in the revs? ALL the power is literally 5k-7k the main issue being they have like no TQ down low and with such a big body it feels slow until you rev it out then it really does well. Gets horrible MPG especially for today lol just one year newer in 2014 gets literally over 10mpg more on the hwy kinda crazy.
@@javiercuevassanchez6446 the 14-20 MDX comes in fwd (3500lb tow) or sh-awd (5000lb tow with trans cooler). It is the 17-20 MDX hybrid that can't tow. You can still add the OEM hitch, harness, roof box, and full size spare to the hybrid that has the exact same interior space/capacity as the 3.5L MDX.
Oh its a dated look, oh its not like new BMW's, At what point do you break the glass ceiling, and finally ARIVE? Everyone's always a critic poo pooing everything, Id like you to travel anywhere in history and tell me when people have had it better, maybe go back 2000 years and ask them what they think of this MDX.
I don’t understand why the J37 gets hate on the forums and boards. This has been an amazing engine for me on my 2010 mdx.
Have you had any issues? burning oil etc.?
because its cool to jump on the bandwagon

What maintenance did you do to it throughout the years?
I'm in the process of getting a 2011 MDX . It's good to see it gets a lot of miles on the engine. What maintenance do you do to keep it going great?

Good solid reviews Mike! Bend Oregon.. probably my most favorite place in the world, I'm in NC and don't get to visit much any more.

I got my 2005 MDX because I plan to upgrade over time. This one has 295,000 miles. I only paid $2102 for it
You can't go wrong with Japanese vehicles. They outlast the Germans vehicles any day.
They also have problems, some major even. Like with nissan transmissions and electrical issues.

I'm looking at a 2011 Mdx, I'm scared to buy cause of the oil consumption, that could possibly happen

Interesting all the other videos reviews said this vehicle drives and handles well.

Luxury SUV review offroad?
Mdx or rx 350....(2014 for both) which to choose?
MDX if you need a third row seat or more cargo space - otherwise I like the RX more

2014 isnt awd and it has weaker engine and doesnt tow 5000lbs

Can you fit a 2012 front bumper with the 2012 grill on a 2009 acura mdx?
I think so. Check with Mdx Facebook group
Great review
great vid, can you confirm if the car has third row curtain air bags?
I believe that's a standard feature on the MDX but not certain on this specific vehicle.
I suspect is because the radiator fan is on thermostat. It comes on and off
Don't these burn oil?
The 10-13 MDXs had the oil burning issue because of gummed up piston rings. The 07-09 MDXs were A-OK.
were you born when this MDX was introduced?
Should be called demonstration with a little review and lots of bashing

I agree. I bought a 2015 5 series BMW I'm here to tell you acura is right there. I don't think bmws are 20000 dollars or more better cars.
Acura is vastly underrated
