Everyone that ever played the organ/keyboard/piano after this guy owes him a debt of gratitude. He set the standard. Listen to YES, Boston, Steve Miller in the 70's, ELO, disco of the 70's and many more. They all are using that sound that Keith pioneered. Why ELP is not in the R&R HoF is a mystery to me.
RIP Bob n Keith... I, as an electric guitarist all my life, to this day still loved what Keith did with synths/keyboards as much as ANY guitarist I ever heard....
This was one damn great show!!! MOOGFEST 04, Actually got to meet Bob.Moog and Keith at Manny's Music back then. The show at B.B. Kings was great!! funny, i got my first synthesizer at Manny's
The definition of a maser is someone who doesn't give up. Those endless cables and knobs are intimidating, even to the experienced, but what we have here is someone who stuck it through the pervasive incarnations. In the end these things were invented as extensions of endless possibilities, but lo and behold the process it takes to get there revolves around plowing through that intimidating murk no matter how easy the technology makes it for us.
ELP are 'up there' for me as the BEST fusion musicians of pop, jazz & classical. I first heard them on vinyl in the Seventies and was 'hooked' from then on and again in the Nineties. Their creations are exciting and never boring always with 100% effort and musicality! I will certainly always remember them AND if I ever have contact with my only son, I will pass on my ELP collection.
Such a great loss. I saw ELP in Chicago. Had the best seats ever. Front row in front of Keith's set up. It was spectacular, one of my favorite memories. Rest well Mr. Emerson, you are missed.
From the Beginning, such a gifted human he was. Now jamming with the masters in heaven, oh what a LUCKY MAN he is. Thanks for given rock a classical touch. Its because of you and Bob that I got Hooked On Sonics!!! Rest In Peace Mr Emerson.
I saw ELP and Jethro Tull at the Gorge at George in Washington state, in the 90's, and it was awesome! RIP Kieth!! Have a good jammin' time up there! I'm going to perform From the Beginning at the open-mic here at WWU as a tribute. I play guitar and sing.
I was watching a documentary called Planet of the Humans was how i was introduced to Mr Emerson's work and his partners Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. The music went perfect with what was going on the screen. Since then I been listening to all of their music and am a huge fan now. They were both sensational and spectacular performers. Why aren't they in the Rock N Roll hall of fame? Isn't that a crime of some kind? Thanks for sharing highbiashiphop. RIP Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. Two outstanding gentlemen. Long live Carl Palmer where ever he might be.
PT.2 Emerson to Moog Music in the 70's was what "Wendy Carlos" in the 60's with "Switched on Bach" it put Moog on the map,and Emerson "ELP" kept them there. his modular had the 1st analog programmer in synth history.he got on the 73-74 world tour, the 1st "PolyMoog" prototype called then the "Apollo"
What I find interesting and heart warming is that modular synthesis which had been sidelined for the faster and more expedient ready to play synths, has made a full revival. The number of companies now selling modular and contributing variety to design is through the roof and they all seem to be doing quite well.
Glad I had the brief opportunity to meet both Bob and Keith @ Moogfest 04' and meet Trevor the author of "Analog Days" . It was one great show between the workshop at Manny's Music and the fest at B.B. Kings.
+James Alfaro IMO it's because it's a hall of Fame, not the Hall of Excellence. Because if it were then Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, ELO, Dick Dale, Yes, Todd Rundgren, King Crimson, Depeche Mode, Warren Zevon, Dire Straits, Supertramp, Joe Cocker, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Los Lobos, Harry Nilsson, Robin Trower and Humble Pie could open their own museum!
+Jimmy Catalina Good point. I have no interest in the hall of fame but you named off musicians who far surpass the dog and pony show of induction into their ranks.
I never got the chance to see ELP, by the time my concert going age came about they didn't do much touring. However I can come to YOuTube, and see video of them. I know Keith isn't the only keyboardist to play "freestyle", but he is among the greats. RIP Keith
Good question! I recall hearing that he bought the rights to the video recording of his NEARFest performance, so I had high hopes that it would be released.
the"Apollo" was a prototype that partially wen't into a very short lived production period it was being sold coupled with the moog "Satellite" which was a all preset mono synth. the "Apollo" was the prototype to the "Polymoog" the "K.E.9" sequencer ending is "K.E's" "Modular Moog".
I did see them during the "Works" tour twice one at "MSG" in Nyc and at Montreal "OLympic Stadium" in Canada.didn't see any equipment failures. however u are correct about them not being able to pay the orchestra. as far as KBFH i would suggest u go to "K.E" and or the ELP Manticore site.
General comment Please state DATE when event occurred at top please. This applies to most UA-cam videos. Thx for making this available. Historical if you are a music lover and especially a key players.
I saw ELP do "Pictures..." in 1972 and it was great-this was in Utica, NY in a concert put on, I believe, by Mohawk Valley Community College. I think the tickets cost $2 (that's two dollars).
I doubt even Mr. Moog has any idea what All the cords/patches do anymore, it has now taken one a life of its own, and evolved much like or brains (salad) haha. However I'm very glad he created the tech and applied it to music. Great and historical collaboration. Peace!
Well i don't know what show u saw pal!....however i attended 2 of em,73-74 "W.B.M.F" World Tour, and the "77 Works Tour" and didn't hear or SEE or HEAR ANY equipment Failures. "ELP" was one of the few bands, that put their money back into their live shows.they had a million dollar "QUAD" sound system, that was state of the art at that time.
there is no info out about the apollo, like the sound it made, my fav ELP song is "when the apple blossoms bloom...". it uses the apollo. Emo worked it on that track. it was also used for the karn evil 9 sequenced ending-programed in the moog?
RIP Keith & Bob Moog... RIP Chris Squire... RIP Greg Lake. What a year. What they gave us will, thankfully, continue on.
A. Horne-a long time gone >>it seems
Yes
A beautiful moment when a tech genius appreciates a musical genius.
Everyone that ever played the organ/keyboard/piano after this guy owes him a debt of gratitude. He set the standard.

No one beats this man on the keys, period.
pioneer for sure, but as far as skills go on the keys go.. their are better. first one that comes to mid is either herbie or george duke
RIP Bob n Keith... I, as an electric guitarist all my life, to this day still loved what Keith did with synths/keyboards as much as ANY guitarist I ever heard....
jfrockon xxx
Absolute heroes.. Both of them..
One of the best shows ever, and I've seen many - ELP spring of 74 - Keith you will be missed. Thank you! RIP

This was one damn great show!!! MOOGFEST 04, Actually got to meet Bob.Moog and Keith at Manny's Music back then. The show at B.B. Kings was great!! funny, i got my first synthesizer at Manny's
Brilliant. Emerson Lake & Palmer was the very first live gig I ever went to as a teenager at the Top Rank in Liverpool November 1971.

great gear and skilled musician... who play/program shitty sounds...

I wish you the best and hope that eventually you are able to be there as you want to be. best of luck brother
Keith, thanks for the music! You are missed.
Another of my heroes gone . . . RIP Keith . . . Love, Chris.
never gets old listening to this... great stuff!
Such a great loss.
I saw ELP in Chicago. Had the best seats ever. Front row in front of Keith's set up. It was spectacular, one of my favorite memories.
Rest well Mr. Emerson, you are missed.
God, I wish I could've seen them live, I'd do anything to see Pictures at an Exhibition!!
The One 'n Only!! Madly miss ya Keith.....the Eternal Flame of your special Music will burn in my ❤ till my very last day.
We will never see another keyboard player like Keith in our lifetime....

And Greg as well
Yes...And Greg now as well.
What an artist - what a machine done by Bob Moog! And he obvioulsy knows every knob. Simply great!"
Thank you, Keith! God bless your soul. You will remain unmatched forever!
From the Beginning, such a gifted human he was. Now jamming with the masters in heaven, oh what a LUCKY MAN he is. Thanks for given rock a classical touch. Its because of you and Bob that I got Hooked On Sonics!!! Rest In Peace Mr Emerson.
A genius of the keyboards -so saddened by Keith s death -big ELP fan -RIP Keith-thanks for all the great music you left us!!
Sa passion c'était sa vie et il a choisi plutôt la mort qu'être privé de sa passion ! C'est en qu'elle sorte un héros !
This music could never be played too loud.
Damn... we're losing a bunch of great talent this year. My hat's off to all the them! Thanks for the memories!
I was blessed to have been in attendance at this amazing show at BB Kings in NYC back in 2004...
Modular Moog Master!
R.I.P. Keith...R.I.P. Bob
Bob has a special friend for dinner tonight .. RIP Keith and Bob :(
The best of all time.
R.I.P. Un genio! Un vero genio e come tutti i genii non resterai indimenticato, perché la tua musica sará sempre con noi!!!!
R.I.P Keith Emerson. I wish I could have seen you live. You are the best Keyboardist man will ever know! ❤🎹🎶
I love this video. Bob Moog was brilliant, AND THEN Keith did his these wonderful, and brilliant riffs. Excellent!!
K. E. and Bob Moog RIP you spoilt us all with your world you give to us, which is timless.
I wish there were more people playin' analog synths like this. this is incredible.
There's a video on Netflix about analog synths through the ages
I got my (first) analog synth, the Arturia Minibrute, literally today. So the flame is there, and only time will tell what I do with it :)
LEGENDS forever.
Keith and Bob are great humans.
That's true genius talented musician and electronic engineer fantastic ability
RIP Bob and Keith. Legends!

Yes it is. And it's wonderful. I saw them do it live in 1973.
The greatest keyboard player that ever lived.....R.I.P., Brother!
What I find interesting and heart warming is that modular synthesis which had been sidelined for the faster and more expedient ready to play synths, has made a full revival. The number of companies now selling modular and contributing variety to design is through the roof and they all seem to be doing quite well.
By far, for me, the best player on synthesisers, and style. RIP Keith you are a legend for ever.
Yessir Keith Emerson was a pioneer and a master at the keyboard.
Genio total!!!
Glad I had the brief opportunity to meet both Bob and Keith @ Moogfest 04' and meet Trevor the author of "Analog Days" . It was one great show between the workshop at Manny's Music and the fest at B.B. Kings.
RIP Mr Keith Emerson.
I was there. It was the very first time I saw the "MAESTRO" performing live.
Why isn't he and ELP in the R 'n' R Hall of Fame?
the Moody Blues are also not in the RnR Hall of Fame either ...
strange, ain't it?
+James Alfaro IMO it's because it's a hall of Fame, not the Hall of Excellence. Because if it were then Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, ELO, Dick Dale, Yes,

I think Joe Cocker will be in some day.

This is great to please my ears with.
thank you
those guys are really really really really cool, just as the riffs
keith has so much soul!
I was there, sitting behind KE. It was also Waksman’s birthday and they brought out a cake. Jordan Rudess was also there.
O CARA BRINCA COM ESSE INSTRUMENTO GIGANTESCO QUE NEM FAÇO IDEIA O QUE É. É INCRÍVEL A FACILIDADE DESTREZA DO MAGO.

I was at this show. God I miss K.E. so very much.
i was there as well...and I agree! Would love to get a copy of the video
@@mike54zzm Could you please tell us the date (at least the year)?
The MOOG offers an infinite number of possible sounds and beats.
And here is a man who mastered every single one of them.
wow I was at the Galic park show in the early 70's and I will see the ELP tribute band at this same venue BBKings
Siempre es un placer escucharte KEITH EMERSON!! Tarkus ending!!! Aguante solear ahí!
Happy heavenly birthday Keith...
Amazing!
Good question! I recall hearing that he bought the rights to the video recording of his NEARFest performance, so I had high hopes that it would be released.
omg i love elp, thats all i can say, being a keyboardist and musician, this just makes me want to cry
Lol k
Two genius !
Incredible. Wish I had a System 55.
I saw ELP in 1977.
Saw that Moog on stage.
A bygone era. Not to be repeated.
the"Apollo" was a prototype that partially wen't
into a very short lived production period it was
being sold coupled with the moog "Satellite" which
was a all preset mono synth. the "Apollo" was the prototype to the "Polymoog" the "K.E.9"

Aguante el MOOG y el Hammond organ!!! Suena igual a cuando lo usaba en 1971
Los mejores teclados...suenan reales,no plásticos ni sintéticos, con peso, rockeros
I love the preset box he's got at the bottom. that's such a neat feature
I just saw this today on a documentary called "Moog". Guess what it was about.
En fait j'aime beaucoup !
keith super son et super émotion
Nous offre ici un Tarkus Supersonique !
Du rêve à l'état pur ...
Merci à toi KEITH !
the best we had RIP guys

I love to see his fingers move ... secure they will create most enjoyment!
HARRHHH! if his keyboard would be a women!
one and only!
mind blown
wow, that modular was a one off custom unit for K.E. the polymoog came out in '76, three years after the apollo . did K.E. use the satellite?
Fantasticoo✌
RIP Keith
Keith was simply brilliant.
Keith Emerson, Rick Wakeman, Jon Lord, Ray Manzarek, Rick Wright, Tony Banks
2 KINGS!!!!
I saw ELP do "Pictures..." in 1972 and it was great-this was in Utica, NY in a concert put on, I believe, by Mohawk Valley Community College. I think the tickets cost $2 (that's two dollars).
The manual for that thing must be the size of Canada.
@flyingsoundmachine
I agree with you 100% :). Get the MOOG. Stupid question: Is the current MOOG mono or stereo. I know the old MINI-MOOGs were mono.
Depends on whether you play it thro' one or two speakers.................mono or stereo?............umphhh
I doubt even Mr. Moog has any idea what All the cords/patches do anymore, it has now taken one a life of its own, and evolved much like or brains (salad) haha. However I'm very glad he created the tech and applied it to music. Great and historical collaboration. Peace!

Is there any place we could fine a complete recording of this performance?
Sad, Sad Day, R.I.P. My friend!!!
