I "discovered" Rachel through Dweezil Zappa, and her guitar skills blew me away. Her story is amazing, born on Frank Zappa's birthday only days after his death and not far from where he lived. Since she is blind, she depends on others to help her for some tasks. Since we aren't as gifted as her, we depend on her to help us elevate our lives. Thank you for elevating us.

Rachel, you really did Keith Emerson's music justice and I know he is smiling for you. It's a sad loss for you to hear of Keith's tragic passing. I know you will continue to do him proud with your incredible talent behind the keys.

+Greg Vinson I would tend to disagree with you, Greg. Certainly, Keith must have been a prodigy at Rachel's age, and following a decade of growth, his talent clearly prevailed, but does one compare the human sequencer which is Keith to other incredibly talented cover artists as Liberace? As impressive as Rachel's abilities are, she has already established her own library of original compositions, which dare I say, have sold as well as anything Keith has managed to sell over the past 30 years. ELP was one of those brilliant, timely, original, well-promoted, and truly enjoyable periods of my youth, having been a musical prodigy myself, but not unlike every prodigy ever rolled out for their talents, Rachel has a blank canvas in which to work with, challenges few could appreciate, where as Keith primarily survives on legend, and achievements of 40+ years ago. Not at all disparaging Keith's talent, but as much as aging troubles me, this world need not bring down its most promising youth when they're compared to the greats of the past, but there comes a time where the most intelligent of us need to support the youthful, and peacefully let go of the godly stereotypes of our pasts. Even Keith sits upon a toilet every day or so. :)

She simply blows my mind every time I see her. As a keyboardist I see a level I shall never attain, but as a music lover its amazing just to sit back and enjoy the pure genius.
I am amazed at this. Not just a good cover....but a cover that has some style and feel. That was always the magic of Keith Emerson. He never sacrificed the emotion and rock energy in order to sound technically perfect. People can connect to music like that. I was blown away BEFORE I noticed this young lady had bad vision. Truly amazing.

Just revisited this gem. Her use of portamento on the Moog and then the staccato jabbings at the Hammond must have had both Rick and Keith wondering, considering their signature sounds seem to have been played here with (dare I say it?)...a bit more life and verve. Rachel probably has the edge on those guys anyway. It's gotta be a lot easier to focus on playing without being distracted by all the pyrotechnics that pomp-rock audiences demand. It was great to hear levels being turned up and down here and there, now and then. Compression is good I suppose but it rather kills the "feel" as it tends to flatten everything. Can't help but feel Rachel hates limiters and compressors for that reason. I guess it's a necessary evil sometimes though. All the best to you from England, J & R. xxx
When I was looking for something by E.L.P. to watch, I kept seeing the name RACHAEL FLOWERS, and I thought "I'm sure! She's probably no just as bad as all the other KEITH EMERSON wannabes!" BUT, I decided to listen to one, at least for a few seconds. I was AMAZED! And I wondered if MASTER (with an "A", NOT an"I") EMERSON was aware of HER!? I was trying to find a way to contact him, when I heard ”The Bad News"! The 3rd or 4th video I watched of RACHEL was this video!!! When she moved from the piano to THE BEAST...I realized that RACHEL is blind... AND I CRIED LIKE A BABY!!!!!!! I immediately contacted her mother, and she told me all about her UNBELIEVABLY TALENTED DAUGHTER!!!! I WOULD CALL HER A MIRACLE!!! I'm also aware that when some people have a 'handicap ' like Rachel has, their brain/body diverts the energy it would 'normally ' devote to that part, and sends it to another part, giving the 'handicapped ' person extraordinary abilities in the other part of their brain.
What an amazing homage to a great musician. This girl is so incredible. It's ever more a waste of a life that Keith would take his life when truly so many loved what he was to the keys. That aside, Rachel, I am truly speechless at your talent
I'm shedding tears, quite literally. I fancied myself a Emerson-phile and learned/performed many of his numbers, but, musician-wise, I'm not worthy to share the same galaxy with this precious girl. I now know the name Rachel Powers.
Where are the Rachel Flowers of the world nowadays? Not being put on a virtual pedestal for all the world to hear unfortunately. The music industry real is hurting but maybe we can make a place like UA-cam the new music industry. Keep up the great work Rachel.
My first concert of my life has been ELP in Rome in 1972, for the Trilogy album presetnation tour opened by Hoedown. I was 15 and never will forget that concert. Not only is amazing that young musician like you are following the waves leaft by the Master Keith, Emerson, but is how you make that: with passion and extreme skill, brava Rachel!!! My eyes got wet...
Fantastic rendition of "Trilogy". When i saw/heard her incredible performance of Karn Evil 9, 2nd impression i didn't realise that Rachel is blind & i'm so glad that she has this world of sound to explore. She surely has worked very hard to develop her talent and i love her playing, one feels her love of the music. I bet Keith was really proud to have helped inspire Rachel. LuvS
I know which video you are talking about. I did catch it but it wasn't obvious and you wouldn't catch it unless you were really paying attention. RE; Rachel Flowers blind.
Rachel, you're absolutely phenomenal and priceless. If there was any justice your profile should be raised exponentially. You should be out there showcasing your incredible talent. Best of luck.
Tears of joy, here. Rachel's guitar work & vocals with Zappa Plays Zappa is as astonishing as this performance. Rachel Flowers is a gift to the musical world. Bless her forever.
I own every album from the Nice to Emerson Lake & Powell so I guess I am considered a fan. Every song has been played hundreds and perhaps some cuts thousands of times. I even owned a quadraphonic 8 track and player! (Listen to Tarkus in quad and your life will be changed). Even though I can't play, each note is burned into my soul. Rachel has captured the essence of Keith's music and I'm sure understands when I say his music connects to our very being on a very deep level and she has the uncanny ability to pass that connection on to the rest of us. THANK YOU Rachel, I can see your joy when you play. Keith must be pleased that his music lives on with you.
@@theeltea, who says she has to only play prog rock? The original post was that she is going to be a legend someday. It said nothing about what style of music she would be playing. Get over yourself.
There are no words capable of describing this… If there was ever a prodigy Rachel is it. Thank you for sharing your gift with us - I am most profoundly grateful.
10 years late to the party, but this old geezer is still totally blown away!! You were flying across those keys. Could listen to you play all day and all night. You’re a true genius of the keyboard, my dear.
Hello Rachel, I have viewed a number of your music videos. I have also subscribed to your you-tube site. I wanted you to know that in my humble opinion I consider you not just and extraordinary artist but a musical treasure. I am a senior and play a trumpet for fun. Nothing special, but one thing I do know and can identify and that is greatness. God Bless You Rachel....Will
Rachel , Every time I watch you play ....I weep with joy ...God has Blessed you ....I have been an ELP fan for more then forty years ...You have been chosen to carry Keith's Legacy...
A couple of the Moog modular presets there had to slow of an attack on the envelopes for Rachel's jaw dropping speed. I cry every time I watch this amazing talent.
Rachel Flowers, young woman, you are not at night but in a sparkling clarity of spontaneous creativity. Musical instruments, synthesizer, piano, guitar, etc. are an extension of your inner light. You give your presence excellence and the desire to listen to you particularly for hours. It is a delight.
What I find so amazing is that not only is she playing this music, she *gets* it - and she gets the value of the instruments, too. I would only say, I hope Rachel writes some music and/or interprets some other artists' music, and gets a band together and goes out and PLAYS the music.
Awesome! Great job Rachel!

great playing, and such scientistic moog devices in the background.
Wowww that was truly excited from the beginning to the amazing end thank you Keith RIP great legacy to a perfect lady
What an amazingly talented and beautiful young lady Rachel is. as an elp fan for more than 45 years this gave me goose bumps.
Yes.Keith Emerson would approve. What fantastic work...
I'm shedding tears, quite literally. I fancied myself a Emerson-phile and learned/performed many of his numbers, but, musician-wise, I'm not worthy to share the same galaxy with this precious girl. I now know the name Rachel Powers.
Extraordinary. Brings tears to the eyes.
Where are the Rachel Flowers of the world nowadays? Not being put on a virtual pedestal for all the world to hear unfortunately. The music industry real is hurting but maybe we can make a place like UA-cam the new music industry. Keep up the great work Rachel.
And we have Sina Drums .
Give her a listen .
She's incredible !!!!
@@pauljilka6989 She needs to be able to play something like what I've covered to be in the same caliber as Rachel Flowers.
Great Musician! Congratulations Rachel Flowers.
Man, with my eyes I can't play 0.01% as good as this, I would need 5 brains and one more to think. Amazing.
You and Rachel must be so sad at the news of Keith's death -- appreciation and love to you both.
Absolutely the BEST rendition of Keith I have EVER HEARD!!!!!
LuvS
not too hard to see she's blind when she moves...
A beautiful way to remember Keith.
I just laugh out of pure joy whenever I hear Rachel play. She's one of the best keyboard players I've ever heard.
Tears of joy, here. Rachel's guitar work & vocals with Zappa Plays Zappa is as astonishing as this performance. Rachel Flowers is a gift to the musical world. Bless her forever.
As an Elp lover from 1970, GREAT.
David Fossdal its like me .
She's gonna be a legend some day.
Do you expect normal people to listen to that prog bs in the 21st century? Get over yourself...
shes legend in my thought and thats enough
@@theeltea check the viewing figures on youtube for prog rock. Silly comment of yours.
@@theeltea, who says she has to only play prog rock? The original post was that she is going to be a legend someday. It said nothing about what style of music she would be playing. Get over yourself.
@@markkeneson6806 Got any vids of her playing anything other than ELP covers?
There are no words capable of describing this… If there was ever a prodigy Rachel is it. Thank you for sharing your gift with us - I am most profoundly grateful.
"What a Beautiful heart Keith had"
If I wasn’t watching this I would swear it was Keith! Truly amazing!
Rachel, you made me cry. Thank you.
Jesus....I bursted into tears watching this !!!
Rachel Flowers é linda e virtuosa. Aqui no Brasil esperamos a presença dela e da família também. Ela é competente. Linda é Rachel Flowers.
That's super cool that he acknowledged you, Rachel!!
She's rockin it,...she's no joke!!
I have been listening to Rachel Flowers for years now and she is an amazingly talented
young lady. I know Keith Emerson is watching down over her!
Old shit like me just gets tears in the eyes, and just want to hug her! What a talent! What a beutyful person!
Beautiful playing and VERY faithful to the original!!!
This awesome young lady is phenomenal.
!!!!!!!
every single note the same as Keith's; you're a treasure Rachel, he must be shining down on you. rip K.E., The King of Keyboards
How I have I not stumbled across this channel before. Incredible playing.
Just too good for words Rachel!

Someday, I seriously would like to see Mr. Emerson and Rachel playing a duet. Anyone else think so?
Otherworldly wicked talent. Just discovered you. Got to see Keith and the boys at the Ft. Worth convention center back in the day. 70's
