    I bought this today, and after mixing with it for five hours, I can’t stop smiling either ❤
    the way it opens up the mid presence is SO good and incredibly musical. and when I fiddled with the 1Khz presence knob i smiled like an idiot. Instantly made the mix mesh well and the vocals so juicy! Plus, Pairing this with the softube bus compressor is an incredible experience. Lovelovelove LOVE this plugin. It’s now my go-to eq for color and non technical eq work!

    Ahh Yeah I also LOVED the Chandler Curve Bender, and it always was a dream EQ for me as well (ecstatic to see it in plugin format).. But if you haven't tried out their Zenner Limiter, or Softube's Chandler Germanium Compressor.. they're also "stupefyingly" good - even the Germ Comp pushed - I was surprised & basically shocked how much more roundness & punch on the low end I was hearing - even on my HS7's (which are only a 6.5" cone) - something I never exprerienced from ANY other software compressor high end plugin I've tried (idk about "them all", but i've 'tried a lot'!)... The Germanium Drive and Feedback knobs REALLY gives you that Germanium style tone.. Softube really knocked these, and the recent Kerry King JCM800 straight outta the park.
    Big Smiles all around on these products!

    You really know what is best of the best stuff out there :) I just happened to jump across this plugin yesterday and used it for some experiments. It blew my mind, to say the least. I think there's no better mastering EQ than the Curve Bender by Softube. It emulates some specific grain and saturation that the hardware adds, amazing stuff.

    Used the hardware extensively for a few years and just loved it, on all sorts of material. I wish the low mids went down to 200hz and the high shelf down to 1.6k though. Either way, Softube have done a fantastic job on this. Picked it up in January and have used it every day since. So musical

    I have to say, every single thing I’ve bought from Softube ended up being 100% top notch quality in sound and musicality. They really nailed analogue emulation SO well. Most of the stuff on my 2-bus is softube at this point. The bus compressor, chandler eq, and their TAPE PLUGIN… wow. The tape one really blew me away. After that i run the mixes through my optical tube compressor with VERY light settings and then print out the mixes through my SSL fusion. Really some great stuff from softube. They’ve got a lifelong customer after all their amazing plugins I’ve bought from them.

    Saw that your channel missing yesterday, immediately went aw hell. Glad it was a quicker fix this go-around. How would you compare the Curve Bender to the Manley Massive Passive as far as opening a mix up? Different saturation characteristics aside

    • @mixbustv
      @mixbustv  4 роки тому +5

      Yes all solved thank you. Manley is smoother and it's power is in the cut/boost at the corner frequency, it's a pultec on steroids so it's all about the musical phase shift and it's designed very well. The bender is more straight forward (the MP has indeed a learning curve) and easier so to speak but it can't do the trick the manley does. Personally this is one of those cases in which I would split genres between them, rock, indie, heavy bender, everything else MP, with hip hop in common, but I might like the MP a tad better in the low end.

Here's another question from my personal yet calculated grab bag: how do you classify the Weiss EQ1? As an additive EQ? And how would you classify the Chandler Limited Curve Bender? As a mastering additive EQ or just a mastering EQ?

  • @immunityoffate

    • @mixbustv
      @mixbustv  4 роки тому +1

      They're different, RS56 is well, passive, smoother, less in your face and it overlaps in all bands, this covers more the mid and high range overlapping those bands and it's more colored and open, faster on the transients too

    Hi David. Would you say, if I haven´t a specific Mastering EQ yet in my arsenal, this one could be a go to? Thank you.
    BTW, I often watch videos from you, where I got the impression, you like the VSTs you showcase but you wouldn´t buy or use them, maybe you present them for other reasons. But when ever I see those rare presentation where you show this certain smile on your face or hear that special something in your voice, I know...yes, this is it :)

    • @mixbustv
      @mixbustv  4 роки тому

      I can't use all the things I have :D not all the time all of them, but if I have it there's a reason or I won't keep em. This one, I used in every single mix I've done since I got it, this, the Zener and the Harmonic (I got these Softube at once) not used them for mastering, also, I mix about 4 tracks a week :D I don't show them all, with that said, I present the things that I like and I think will be useful for the audience.
      In fact, I tell you I wouldn't get this as the only mastering eq, granted that Fab Filter ProQ3 is totally fine for mastering to fill the spaces this one will leave, but, this is more of a refined sweetening eq, the mids and highs it has are second to none, but if you need surgical work or more control on the low end, you can't with this one. Worth the price for the things it can do? Yes for me it does, but I mix for a living. If you want one shop stop mastering eq, I'd say get the Slick Mastering EQ: bit.ly/3dk57VS and if you want color add a saturator to it, there are so many. Another one that I presented and used it (several instances actually) on every single project I mixed since, is the BlakQ bit.ly/3c8D0Zr you would have a really nice combo with this two as the second had 2 stages of really nice saturation. Here, with less than $100 I gave you a full set. Remember a lot of professionals watch my channel, and I present tools for both home users and pros, and for a pro, a plugin or an hw is an investment worth making.

      @@mixbustv Hi David. Awesome. Thank you as ever for your ongoing help. I got both, the BlackEQ and the TDR Mastering EQ and I like both of them. Cool. Sometimes I forget about all the stuff when amazing new things come out. I wanted the Zener Bender also more for mixing individual tracks or groups. Is the BlackEQ equally good? I also got the VQA-154 EQ from Fuse Audio. Hmm, if you´d say this would replace the Zener Bender in a good way, I would save a lot of money, what is very important for a non professional musician :) Would be glad if you can drop some further 1 or two lines. Thank you and have a great weak.
