WHAT A GAME!! instant classic
I started that game at 3 a.m. pretty sleepy ... I finished it at 5 a.m. fully awake !
Best game ever !!!
Kayla (sp?) did not have to stop, she was out of position on that play, great athletic play by Manuela
e
In fact one could argue that Kaela DID have to stop. Manuela got inside position on that disc. If Kaela had made a late bid, she likely would have caused a dangerous play.
Anyway as I've said elsewhere, there's no way to play this sport without having moments like this. We need to get over legislating such plays out of existence. Accept that sometimes when you play a sport something freakish will happen and you might get wrecked.
Sounds harsh; is reality.
Outrageous game point!!
The best game of frisbee I've ever seen. Well done to every wxman on that pitch!
Amazing! A match for the ages!
Kind of disappointed the spirit of the game award was cut off at the end, but the womens final was fire!
wowww. amo a las gemelas cardenas. what an incredible game with such good play and strategy
Subscribed and liked. Great game!
Kinda crazy that the announcers had mistaken both Michelle McGee and Han Chen for Opi Payne. Then at 1:37:15 they mistake Han Chen for Magon Liu.
Love this
Game starts at 32:15
Required viewing for competitive coaches and players
1:34:46 Love that cut
Haha yes, she actually drew in 2 defenders :D amazing footwork 🙌🏼
Best universe point of all time
Que bien juegan, lastima que no saben dónde queda Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
What a game!! I wonder how many point Walczak played in that game?! I would guess between 22.5 and 24.5 out of 27 (she came in the middle of a point on a injury sub). Is she the best women player in the world? I would say the hottest for sure, she's on fire🔥🔥 What a pickup for Revolution and Brute Squad!!
The score shouldn't have been that close. The call that the Fury made at 1:57:47 was completely inexcusable. Apparently the Fury believe the people defending them aren't allowed to try hard.
That ludicrous call resulted in an immediate score for the Fury. I'm glad Revolution was able to overcome it.
It's a Dangerous Play. Just read the rules and maybe the annotation. "Dangerous Play fouls can be called before an event to avoid a potential collision e.g. a defender runs/layouts in a way that an accident would occur if the offence were to continue." Or just imagen what would have happend, if both players would have jumped to the disc, like one did.
@@sonabTV If that's really what the rules say now then I'm sorry to hear about it. I played Ultimate in the 80's and 90's. Apparently the game has been wimpified since then.
@@sonabTV "an accident would occur if the offence were to continue." By this definition it was not dangerous. It doesn't say "if the offense were faster or could jump higher." Helton had no chance to get to that disc before Cardenas made the block. Let's think of it this way: Did Helton have a chance to arrive at the disc at the same moment Cardenas did if Cardenas had not made the bid? No. If Cardenas hadn't bid, Helton would have received the disc several moments later and several feet behind where the block was made. It's clear on replay that Helton was just late recognizing Cardenas had a play on that disc. Cardenas was tracking that disc before Helton even turned around. Helton didn't have to stop her jump, because she hadn't even started it yet when Cardenas was already in the air. When Cardenas touched the disc in the air Helton's toes are still on the ground with her hands out for a clap catch. Look at the replay and pause it the moment Cardenas touches the disc in the air. There's a pretty large gap between them. At most, Cardenas would have grazed Helton's fingertips after the block was made had Helton jumped higher and kept her hands out.
@@ParhelionMedia "Let's think of it this way" NO, lets not think it that way, because that's not how it works (in the wfdf rules, audl differs here). There is even a rule "Making a play for the disc is not a valid excuse for initiating contact with other players". They only put it in so players don't make this argument. Only for this argument, even so the argument has no reasoning in the rules.
Wether or not you hit a disc, you are not allowed to jump dangerously into other players. I admit that it was not a 180 degree angle and she didn't really stop the play, but it is a dangerous play in my opinion.
@@sonabTV What I’m saying is that Manu didn’t initiate contact, because she made the play before Helton ever could have gotten to that disc. She was in the air before Helton reacted to her defensive bid. Had Helton jumped higher and actually been closer to Manu, Helton would have been the one initiating contact because Manu jumped way before her. They both have equal right to the disc, but Manu simply made the play first. Neither player intended to initiate contact with the other, and Manu even says in the discussion she was moving to the side to avoid Helton. It’s a matter of timing in my view. I agree Manu made a more aggressive move but I don’t think it could have initiated contact or prevented Helton from making a better play than she did considering the timing and their respective positions on the field.
32:15, Game starts
33:35, Manu Cardenas very aggressively poaches. Teammates don't switch early enough. Gets burned for it. Fury scores.
--> See 1:57:41 later in the game for the same sort of poach.
36:26, impressive reset to open side
39:35, really chaotic and clogged endzone offense by Revo
42:12, That Revo player must've been confused about who she was covering, bc their defensive setup here looks fine, but she runs out of position, to cover absolutely no one, and opens up a lot on the breakside
45:25, how to beat a cup 101 right here on this throw
47:30, Failed handler reset. Interesting turnover too. The only good option for the thrower was the player who turned their back to the thrower, simultaneously allowing her defender to poach the middle and cover the only other cutter at midrange. The force seems to be flat, and no other force was used this point. I think that adds to the confusion for Fury cutters and it also makes the handler reset cut harder, which is where the turnover happened.
51:04, impressively quick read by the handler to go to the other side in the
1:07:54 7.11. "If the disc initially contacts the playing field and then becomes out-of-bounds without contacting an offensive player, the thrower must establish a pivot point where the disc first crossed the perimeter line, or the nearest location in the central zone if that pivot point would be in their defending end zone."
It seems like it would be a travel to try and establish a pivot point in the defending end zone after the disc has crossed the perimeter line. Don't know if this is maybe where WFDF and USAU differ but this seems like a very strange outcome.
Edit: Doesn't appear to be the little lightbulb saying there is a difference between USAU/WFDF rules here
🤷♀
1:58:19 wow amazing D but if you think this wasn't a dangerous play according to WFDF I'd highly recommend having a read of the annotation at the end of 17.1, whether it sways you or not, relevant to think about the examples they give of dangerous plays: "e.g. a defender runs/layouts in a way that an accident would occur if the offence were to continue...running without looking when there is a likelihood of other players occupying the space into which the player is traveling...jumping or otherwise leaving the ground where it is likely that a significant collision will result"
Yeah, this played out incorrectly. Part of the confusion was that she stopped and made it look like she was going to throw, which you can't do on, say, a turnover. But on the pull, for a disc OB, she tried to bring it in from the wrong spot and her teammate corrected her. This is more a violation than a travel (though I'd need to read the exact wording to be totally sure on that part. The result would largely be the same.) Cardenas was wrong to send her back.
@@cogginsnuff regarding the play at 1:58:18 watch that replay again. You clearly hear Manuela say that she went in a different direction more than into Kaela, which I think is completely right. Also, if you watch it closely you can see that Kaela didn‘t even stop because of her, she just wanted to catch it kind of chill in the air and realized afterwards.
@@squidge903 The disc landed in the endzone and slipped out the back. So the offense had 2 choices, start the play in the back of the endzone or at the goal line. Since the player faked a throw, she established a pivot foot (at a right spot). She cannot bring it to the goal line after establishing a pivot foot. So Cardenas was right to send her back.
@@fredouellet3160 you're incorrect.
Read rule 7.11 - it says that you must bring the disc in at the central zone (ie - not the endzone) if the pull rolls OB and your nearest pivot would otherwise be in the endzone. The thrower *does not* have a choice.
7.11 "If the disc initially contacts the playing field and then becomes out-of-bounds without contacting an offensive player, the thrower must establish a pivot point where the disc first crossed the perimeter line, or the nearest location in the central zone if that pivot point would be in their defending end zone."
Unlike a turnover that lands in the endzone, where you may choose either to pick it up from there or bring to the front. This is a common situation, and probably why people got confused.
Only Finney got it right, telling her thrower to bring it up.
what happened to Thompson on that 12th Fury point? 2 completely unnecessary spikes.. guess she hates that disc lol
Embarrassing lack of self control, right? All I see is inner resentment and insecurity: we/they hate the fact that we/they care so much about, invested so much in something partially outside of their/our control, and know deep down, that even as world champs, all our insecurities are still there and that we are flawed... Spiking like that (she looked close to tears) reminds me of a person that got rich, chasing status, only to realise that life has passed them by and they are unhappy. Thankfully we have the dancing Colombianas as a fantastic, happy counter example!
1:57:48 for ESPN and Ka(G)ela!
Terrible call by #5
What a bad contest on the foul @ 1:40:00
I honestly don't think it was a foul. She barely puts her forearm on the Revo player's back. She just settles herself and barely pushes at all. The Revo player falls because she lays out after mistiming her jump.
Clean D by Manu! Weak call by Helton! Never dangerous! Manu had position on a bad throw! Who had the right to that space? Not being able to make a play that would *initiate contact* whilst out of position, is not the same as avoiding inevitable contact :( *insert stereotype about women's ultimate here*
Double edge-side spikes?! On game point? They should have had to forfeit that point for deliberately damaging the disc they're about to pull! Get a grip on this WFDF
Speaking of who needs to get a grip...
Why Americans get so mad when someone spikes? I really don’t get it. I mean you can disagree, but there is a long way between that and ask for a ff. Just asking
Can’t stop Cardenas twins = lose
Picking up 2 of the best women in the world onto your club = win
probably the best d i've seen in a women's game completely erased by the worst rule of the game. this sport needs to at least have USAU's type of observers to rule on these things otherwise rules will always be exploited and leaves room for cheating
no cheating. just difference of opinion. advisor gave their side of it and went back.
@@aFeinPhoto adviser had nothing to do with it. Helton stuck to her call so no matter what it's not a turnover. I also didn't say she was cheating.
🚽 💩🤣.
