    Just picked up this in 2022 so presuming mine is at least 27 years old! Looking forward to tucking into it but already feel like I’m winning due to the age and the closure dates

    I'm relatively new to this. I got maybe 10 bottles in my bar. The 2020 bottling of Parliament was far and away the best whiskey I have ever had. Immediately went out and bought 2 more bottles for $225 CAD. The viscosity is amazing. So rich, complex and deep. I guess it's technically a 25 year old so that's why it's so good.

      Yep. I actually reviewed the 2020 in a newer video.

    Informative and useful review as always, Rob. The story about the "Parliament" is told on the back of the canister -- it refers to the flock of rooks that are described as "guarding" the distillery. Cheers and best regards.

    great video. My opinion on this, its a sherry bomb, nothing complex. Its sherry sherry sherry. For a single malt I prefer to reach for something a bit more challenging, bit more unique, and a bit more of complexity.

    Been trying to decide on this or the 18 as they're nearly the same price here and many people seem to like both. Now knowing it's super sweet I think I'll go for the 18.

    Good review. I got a really ripe red apple taste on the palate. It's a complex whisky. Beautiful

    Well I opened up the Glendronach 21 last night and had 2 drams. I was a little disappointed. I thought it would blow me away. It was good, but I would rate this 8 out of 10. I got my Glendronach 18 and did a side by side and liked it better. I would rate the 18 yr a 9 out of 10. It has more punch and flavor than the 21 IMO. Now the Glendronach 12 & 21 are aged exactly the same, except with 9 years difference and the 15 & 18 are aged exactly the same with a 3 years difference. It's rare to find the 18 yr on the shelf, don't know why, but I found it at Beltramo's before it closed. Just an FYI.

      I think they're releasing another back of the 18 in Ontario. I think the PX makes the 21 a little too sweet.

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 років тому

      Yes, Px is sweeter than a Oloroso cask. You still get the sweet from the fruity taste in a Oloroso cask. It is more of a stewed fruit like your making jam in a pot on the stove. In my opinion, the 18 yr is closer to the 15 yr. Just fyi.

      I have a single cask bottle aged 20 years in a PX puncheon. Did the review on the sample. Amazing stuff.

    • @keithpetersen560
      @keithpetersen560 8 років тому

      I saw that review. I have the 1995 19 yr PX Puncheon cask #4028. Waiting for a special occasion on that one. With a higher abv and being a single cask, I think I will enjoy that more than the 21 yr parliament. Thanks!

    Nice review. I just now stumbled across your channel for the first time.
    Glendronach definitely one of my favorite malts. Especially love the 15 yo. I still have an unopened bottle of the 21 yo but the urge to open it is getting stronger.
    I see you also have a good taste in literature. Kingkiller Chronicles is awesome.

      Thanks for joining buddy. Glendronach 21 is very nice. I'll likely buy another bottle soon. The Name of the Wind is likely my favourite book of all time. Thanks for noticing. Cheers.

    what's better glendronach 21 or glengoyne 21?

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  7 років тому +2

      Depends how sweet you like your scotch. Glendronach is sweeter but a touch hotter with the alcohol at 48%. Both excellent. I think I'd go for the Glendronach but it's a toss up.

      The bottling age is printed on the back ok the bottle below the label if that helps you check Wit6. I’d like to know too. Back of the tube has the master distiller on too?

    In my whiskey book, they mention that Glendronach is a Speyside. But if you look on the box or bottle it says it a Highland. I've come across this on a couple other bottles and don't get it. You rated this an 8 as you did with the Macallan 18.. Curious, what scotch have you rated as a 9 or 10.....

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 років тому

      That's interesting. Is your whisky book old by any chance? There was a re-zoning that took place a while back, it's the reason Macallan is no longer a Speyside and now considered a Highland as well.

    Parliament refers to a parliament of trees, not birds.

    • @tzsteve33

      James Mitchell to be more specific the parliament in this case referes to the rooks(type of crow) that live in the old forest that is beside the distillery that produces this wonderful whisky

    Is the 18 yr as sweet as the 21 yr?

    • @WhiskyInThe6
      @WhiskyInThe6  8 років тому

      +Corey Martin thanks Corey. It's not as sweet. It's sticky aged in Oloroso Sherry casks. It's the PX casks of the 21 that gives its candy like sweetness.
