Be sure to check out my other winter ❄ video 🎞 How to maintain your hot tub in the winter. ua-cam.com/video/dcJYV13HHU4/v-deo.html You guys are the best and #keepmakinglifeepic
-19 here in SD and my hot tub guy said damage and freezing of pipes in a shut down tub can happen in less than 14 hours not 14 days. Glad I seen your video, the remote monitoring is something worth looking into.
If you live in South Dakota yes 100% I would recommend that. And depending on the brand of hot tub, you can start seeing freezing it especially as cold as it was yesterday and today in a very short amount of time. Keep your filters clean, and your water level high.
I found a fully submersible water heater 1500watt and I also am using a Wi-Fi inkbird temperature controller with app alarm settings to not allow the submersible heater to overheat the water in the hot tub if left unattended 👍 .as the one in your freezer kit cannot be fully submerged😮 and thank you for this video awesome information
I appreciate the feedback. We have saved thousands of Hot Tubs with this particular bucket heater, but there are other ones out there that are submersible. The ink bird is an awesome product that that helps monitor for sure
Is the 1000 watt heater enough or go with the 1500 watt one? I have an Artesian Eagle Crest that jets #2 and #4 turn on but all I hear is a humming noise from them, the other jets work fine and it’s holding temp at 102 as we speak. We got down to -13F last night with brutal wind and it was working just fine when it was 15F on Wed evening. Do you have any suggestions on what to look for? I’m located in Kansas City
If you can get it, the 1500 is better but the thousand will work in a pinch. A humming sound is typically the sign of a bad pump seal and you should get a tech out there as soon as possible.
That’s awesome. My Hot Spring Grandee just handled -47 last week as well…. Typically tubs that have issues are tubs with dirty filters and water level to low…. Or not checking it regularly…. I hope your artic spa continues to bring you joy. Thanks for watching
In the winter we can't use our outdoor spigot. How do we add water from inside the house? It seems just using a pitcher would be time consuming. We have soft water in the house.
I do bucket 🪣 mine out however I’ll link a video here ua-cam.com/video/dcJYV13HHU4/v-deo.html towards the end I talk about ways to use a hose from the house. The little bit of water you are adding shouldn’t affect the hardness to much but of it is needed you can buy calcium hardness increaser.
I was just about to head to Fleet Farm to get a submersible cattle heater for my 400 gallon tub. I'm in MN and the techs can't come for a week. Temps are dropping. I did a drain/refill so the water is already so cold. I wish you would show exactly how I'm supposed to sink the bucket to the bottom without submerging the cords!! Maybe I can put the cattle heater in a bucket! It does come with a cage. Wondering if I should get a floating (will it melt my cover?) or a sinking. I'm thinking a sinking one and I could put it in a bucket in the bottom of the tub.
Ok--after thinking further, I'm switching from the cattle heater (de-icer) to a similar bucket heater. It has a 6 ft. cord that I should be able to figure out how to keep it out of the water! You helped me realize that I need to HEAT the water! I think my circ pump/heater is broken as my water feature won't work and neither will the heat. Both pumps still work though so I will have to go out and circulate that water every so often, especially before bed as the temps will be dropping into the teens this weekend. 2005 Hot Springs Vanguard. Thanks!
you probably have an air lock... I would try adding more water down the gray stand pipe. This video may help as well. ua-cam.com/video/MxaSnwA2jyw/v-deo.html
@@TheHotTubLady Thanks for your replies! I hooked up the bucket heater ($42) to a long copper pipe that I had and put it across a corner of the tub. My device was not TOTALLY immersible. It took me a while to grasp that! (submersible/immersible) Holy smokes! Thank goodness I checked the water temp with my digital cooking thermometer--over the past few days it got up to 128! Turned it off and left it open so the hot tub guys won't scald themselves. Also--I did fill up the hot tub through the stand pipe. Ozonator is not working either. It is old enough to have another big part go. :( Hot tub repair is coming out this afternoon! I'll check out your other videos. Thank you!
My hot tub makes an awful noise and it's constantly heating up. Vibrates the house and is loud. Is there not a way to safely drain the hot tub in the winter? Temperature drops 3 degrees in 30 minutes. Maybe because seal on top isn't good?
I would get a technician is working on it…. If you drain it you definitely need to blow out the lines and winterize it. Put RV anti freeze with a funnel down each and every jet and the filter stand pipe
You were holding the space heater but didn't say what you did with it. Does it go on the outside of the tub near the filters corner. Our hot tub is in a room with open windows for ventilation. I wish I could add a photo for you to see it. The room is not temperature controlled. But perhaps a little space heater would keep the room temp from getting below freezing.
The space heater is for inside the equipment compartment. However in your room you would be able to set it on the outside of the cabinet because you are in a room. I hope that helps. I am working on adding more visuals. Thank you so much for the comment! ❤️
Buy aquarium heater instead. You can get an 800 watt heater rated for 200 gallons on Amazon for $40. Get 2 for 400 gallons. And a $5 Home Depot bucket. Save yourself $50-$100.
Thanks for watching open to any and all solutions. These are suggestions on Amazon. I personally Amy not selling just trying to keep hot tubs from freezing and we have had great luck with this system. I very much appreciate your input. Can the aquarium heater get the water in the lines up to 100 degrees?
@@TheHotTubLady great video by the way. Didn’t mean to be mean or anything. The hyyger brand 800watt gets my 215 gallons to 90. But with the aquarium heaters of course you cannot go in the tub with them. And I wouldn’t although that never stops me from putting my arm in my fish tanks. Lol. I really shouldn’t do that! Curious, are your heaters safe to get into the tub with them on?
