This is a super helpful video. Thanks. I’m purging for the first time and I’m using the same purge brand you did. The instructions said to leave it in circulating overnight. I didn’t do that; I did it the way you did it. Have you ever done it that way? Did it help?
Hello, I will be going away for a month and want to drain my tub. It’s warm where I am so no chance of freezing is that okay to do? Thank you for your help!
You can do that it is kind of hard one the pump seals etc…. My advice would be to turn it down and plan on draining it when you get back. Not the end of the world to drain it but hot tubs do better if you keep water in them
@@TheHotTubLady thanks for your quick reply. So you advise to turn down the temp but going away for 17 days I’m concerned if the water evaporates below my jets and then have a bigger issue?
@@jv122798 the water will need some work when you get back. That’s is why I suggest draining when you get back. That will cause less damage then the dry hot tub. 17 days is not that long if you shock it and super chlorinate it before you go it might actually make it ok
Hi, how bad is it that i never purged my 1 1/2 year old tub? Keep in mind i am really the only user of it and really keep on top of everything else. Thanks for any input.
If you have an aquarium with fish in the tank. When you clean their aquarium out if you pull water out into a garbage can you can dump the aquarium water on plants It's actually healthy for them something about fish urine ;)
As you run the jets you force it out! Of you are truly concerned about the Miiniscal residual you can fill the hot tub comeplely run for 20 Minutes and complete drain again
No You need to have the filters out for this short amount of time that you purge the hot tub. Make sure there is not a lot of leaves etc in the hot tub before starting this process. Thanks for watching.
You have to have something in the salt cartridge hole. I usually do it at the end of a cycle and toss afterwards. You can use the plug that came with the tub as well
Off the wall says leave over night but I read reviews that the gunk was stuck on their tub. I'm running for 30 then draining and cleaning Going to use the wet vac as blower and blow the lines through filter are first to try n get all the water off for my pool guy to winterize it Thanks for all the great info
Not off the wall the SPA PURGE but I ll see when gunk stops. It's only 2 years old and only myself n my medical fragile little girl get in it. Shouldn't be to dirty unless the chemicals built up
What is going on? 😂 Step #1: Kill the power Step #2: Take the filters out Step #1: Pull the filters out Step #2: Pour in purge and let jets run (even though step 1 was kill the power for some reason?)
Hey quick question; I've gone through three things of ahhsome now, and there is still some stuff coming up. Do I need to keep doing it until there is none or very little? I It's important in my case, because my skin is very susceptible to Folliculitis. I recently had a bad breakout of itchy bumps. I didn't know until recently we were supposed to "purge" the hot tub when we drained it; the supplier never told us that :(
Well, you do realize that the purges are a degerent and will bring some stuff with them. If it were me and I was overly concerned about it I would maybe purge it one more time with something else just a different brand to see if it gets something thie ahhsome is missing. They all have their strenghts a weaknesses. Any other brand would work.
@@TheHotTubLady Since I'm so sensitive to issues, I think I'm going to purge mine about every three months. I also quickly learned that I had to get a wet sump pump lol. One other tip though... I bought the widest hose I could buy I think it was 5/8" and it made an enormous difference... took about 10min off my drain time.
Nothing better than fresh water!! Thanks for the information.
So very true thanks for the support

Glad it was helpful! No I have never let it sit over night. I have always drained after about 30-90 minutes.
It says on the bottle to leave the product in there for 5 hours…what are your thoughts about that
I’m getting a turquoise biofilm, it’s gooey and plasticy. Any idea what it is?
What brand of purge are you using? Typically turquoise is magnesium or metals in the water. How do you typically test out?
If I turn off power, how do I run jets with purge cleaner?
You turn the power off after 30 minutes of the purge being in the tub

You will be fine. I had my hot tub for 12 years before I ever did my first purge. Once a year is engough to purge a hot tub.
Thanks for your reply!
What do you you with the foam ? How you clean the foam? Do you scup it out ? Or just let it drains
I scoop or blow it off with a leaf blower and I risnenit down while draining
Is it safe to put the water on your plants?
I have always ran it on my grass but never my plants 🌱. I would stick to the grass

How do you feel about standing in the water with that external pump running?
It has never bothered me but some people get freaked out so you do you! I am
Plugged into a gfci outlet
Just got the submersible pump and the spa purge also the Off the wall cleaner going out now to get this tub clean
Good job!! Great time of year to be get it done!
So does water inside pipes come out automatically? Or is some left in there?

What about all the floties after this?
You shouldn’t have floaties if you do I suggest doing it again
do you need to be concerned about running the jets with no filters ... with debris getting in the pipes??

@@TheHotTubLady thanks for the quick response
Will that kill a normal well pump?
Most well pumps could handle it.

Thank you
Been watching lots of ur vids
We have a new grandee coming to us in aug/sept
I am Excited and scared at same time
Very helpful thank you God bless
Glad it was helpful!
do you need to remove the salt cartridge when doing the purge? thank you for your videos, super helpful!

Thank you! One follow up question, if I keep the cartridge in and don’t replace it, is that ok? Thank you again!
@@SandraRoberts-v7l I thinkt it will work pull it out and rinse it off...... It will shorten the life as well
For the Spa Purge do I need to leave it overnight or can i simply run for 5 min with the filters out and then kill the breakers, drain and refill?
At least 30 minutes. But yes

If the sides of the tub get sticky from the purge, should I remove the pillows, too, or will those be okay?
Great point yes you should remove the pillows before purging. Otherwise if you forget. Take them off and throw in the purge water and wipe 🧼
Thank you for sharing your information with us have a beautiful day God bless you always
Thank you
Found it.

Step 3: ignore Step 1
You can’t make this stuff up
I live the fact that you are paying such incredibly close attention and appreciate your feedback again.
