Great video! Welcome back ;) 2018 was THE year for investing proper skincare regime for me, first time ever. After testing a few brands out for a while, I settled on Drunk Elephant after it launched in the UK. I’m seeing amazing results. I’ve splurged big time, to try everything - and am learning what works best, what I don’t need to repurchase and how I can pare my routine down to the essentials. And of course, I still use my beloved P50V BHA lotion regularly alongside ;) My skin is looking great 👍🏼!!! It feels good to take such good care of myself. xxx

Isabella Augustine - hello! I’d be delighted to offer my feedback, hope it helps. My skin is combination, dehydrated, has hormonal breakouts and dullness, and pigmentation and ageing. So bearing that in mind......:. Cleansers: I use their Juju a few times a week, and a cream cleanser from Avene. Beste Jelly is amazing but not cheap ;) C Firma - amazing product, worth it! B Hydra - a light gel cream, perfect if you don’t need a heavier cream. I won’t repurchase because I think Protini is enough for me and has the anti-ageing peptides which I want! Protini - lovely, quite light and very hydrating and loads of peptides! Will repurchase. Lala - I adored this cream, but decided not to repurchase. It would be great for dry skin or as a winter cream. I might give it a go next winter, but for now, Protini is fine for me. Framboos - a great acid Serum. However, P50V is more BHA acid and works better for my skin. So I won’t repurchase. Although it’s been good to alternate between them, it’s pricey ;) Also, my cousin is bringing me the Baby Facial from America soon, so a weekly Glycolic peel will be a better investment for me personally. Marula Oil - wonderful, but it’s too heavy for my combination skin and I won’t repurchase. If you have normal/dry skin this is a superior quality oil and I recommend. But I feel it’s too much for me, so won’t repurchase. Hope that helps! Keep me posted ;)

Drunk elephant has been a game changer! For me, the product that is most worth the splurge has been their vitamin C serum. Researched a ton before purchasing this one and I am thrilled with the results!
cass rhi I find morning to be the best time; really amps up the glow. You only need 1 pump (anymore and it gets too sticky on your face) then apply. Just don’t forget sunscreen since vitamin c serums make the skin slightly more sensitive to sunlight
great video, i do love Caudalie products but recenlty loving Tula skin care especially the toner and day and night moisturizer, I haven never tried a toner like this, leaves skin so soft and glowing.
So pleased you are back doing this kind of content and it looked like you had an amazing trip! I like a lot of the same things as you, but biggest discovery was probably finally getting my hands on some cerave products through iherb, really like the hydrating cleanser. Also fully embraced oils- I always thought on my combo/acne skin it wasn't a good idea but actually dry oils like Nuxe and also rosehip oil have been a revelation. xxx

I do have a video coming but probably not until much later in the year given it came near the end of my 7 months away! 😂 It was such a sweet little city, nice and compact so easy to get around on foot. The Livraria Lello is their famous grand bookstore, a boat tour is a nice way to see the city from the water, and I really enjoyed the healthy burgers at Honorato which was recommended by a Portuguese foodie friend of mine x

I tried the Go-To face oil because of your channel and it was my best skin care discovery this year! I have very oily skin so trying a face oil seemed like a bad idea but it really helped with my breakouts and funny enough, made my skin less oily somehow.

The tide has turned and skincare became my 2018 focus (rather than makeup to cover it all up!). Ultraceautical moisturiser with spf 50 was a winner after finally coughing up the big bucks in late 2017. I have similar complexion and skin type to you and it’s the first product I’ve tried in my 30+ years that I’ve loved enough to actually get me in the habit of applying SPF everyday. And like you, no burns. It’s pricey but I only needed 2 tubes to last me for daily use over the year. I love the Go-to Properly Clean for my cleanser with my Clarisonic, and Alpha H Liquid Gold when I need gentle exfoliation. I indulge with the Laneige lip sleeping mask as my lips are very prone to cracking. Love love skincare videos and your simple style!

I would recommend the Etude House Glow on Primer, a little go a long way and it give you such a glowy look, just using it on it own give you such a healthy look, I would recommend the gold version for Dry skin and the normal version for oily skin!

i absolutely love your videos!! i could spend all day watching them!! we seem to love the same products so i always trust your input. i’ve tried out many different products you’ve featured on your channel and loved them all!! my favorite discoveries have been bioderma (the best makeup remover for my sensitive skin), the entire caudile brand (i’m obsessed with all their products), glossier moisturizing moon mask, necessarie’s body care products, and olive and june cuticle serum (an absolute life saver for my dry cuticles)!! i was wondering if you have any lip balm recommendations, something light enough to wear during the day but still hydrating enough to sooth my dry lips. i’ve tried the laneige lip mask, but it wasn’t very hydrating on me. i greatly value your opinion and would love to hear your input!! thank you, hope you’re having an amazing day!! :)
I was given the Geranium Leaf Body Scrub for Christmas, and it's heavenly! This definitely made me want to try some Caudalie products... Great video, as always!
The set-up of all the skincare together is so satisfying! For me, the stand out skincare product of 2018 is 'Klairs Supple preparation Unscented toner'. It's lovely. Also The Ordinary Retinoid 5 % in squalane was also a gamechanger!

Matilda, I know this might be different to what you mostly cover on your channel but can you please do a video or post about how you organised what to do on your trip overseas? A 3 week trip stresses me out trying to organise stuff as it is but a 7 month trip...I’d go insane.
Thanks for asking Tracy! Probably not a good fit for my content at the moment unfortunately, but I would like to talk about travel more in future. Do you mean planning activities for a trip? I actually don't book anything in advance - I'm someone who prefers to explore on foot and discover a city myself, rather than join any tours or excursions. I research online, in travel books, blogs etc so I get an idea of areas and things I'd like to see, then loosely plan my days based on opening times or weather etc. I wasn't strictly 'travelling' for 7 months straight, there were a few months of working in one city in between, plus several visits to cities I'd been before so the pace was more leisurely. My advice would always be to choose fewer destinations and spend more time in them, so you can take your time and not feel like you're stressed trying to fit a million things in each day 👍 x

I'm bookmarking this video so I'll be sure to use your affiliate link when I do ;) My current skincare obsession is the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner (long name, I know). It's so soft that it feels like an essence, and has helped my hormonally plagued skin regain some of its former glory. It a great base for my moisturizer, too!

So many things to add to my “to try” list! I tried the caudalie exfoliate earlier this year after some research online but unfortunately it was too abrasive for my skin. I switched to the Tatcha rice powder for dry skin and it’s sooooooo nice and gentle

Glad you're interested in skincare! 👍 But remember, teenage skin is changing a LOT (even in your early twenties) so it might not be a good idea to invest in a lot of products given they might not be that effective in a short amount of time x

Matilda you need to try and review The Ordinary skincare. It’s an affordable skincare brand based in Canada, and one of the brands under the Deciem umbrella. The products don’t have glowy names like « The Pore Minimizer » or « The Glow Getter », instead they simply mention the main ingredient in the product, so you need to research and educate yourself on ingredients to figure out what your skin actually needs (lucky for us, their website is full of very helpful information). I am recommending this to you because I think it will tick all your boxes as it is minimalist and straight to the point ! Hope you like it ☺️

Hi just wanted to say I've been using the sukin super greens moisturiser for 2 years now it's completely natural , cheap and so moisturising I have acne and it doesn't make my skin irritated or oily I also have dry skin it's so moisturising I'd recommend this so much and would love if you could review the brand ! Love some of Your favorite products! For me 2018 was big in skincare. I discovered glorious, organic sunscreen from Erbaviva, it’s very moisturizing, no need for any additional cream. Fell in love with Pai Rosehip oil and Skinfood Propolis essence. I also noticed that when I use very hydrating essence, I can go straight to few drops of oil and sunscreen. Also, 2018 was my first year of sunscreen every day.
Hi! Was wondering if you would recommend using bioderma as a morning cleanse? I was also wondering if you thought guys should be double cleansing even if they don't wear makeup at all (just sunscreen)? Always love your videos!
Thank you! Unfortunately I can't give any skincare advice - I'm just a regular beauty lover, not an expert or a makeup artist. I personally don't have a cleansing routine in the morning so Bioderma is sometimes what I use to refresh my skin before moisturiser and sunscreen. Double cleansing is really about personal preference - I always like to feel like I've removed any makeup/dirt/grime/pollution from the day first, then the second cleanse can really clean your skin 👍 Best to do some more research! x

I also loved the effect flaxseed oil supplements had on my skin!

My favorite skincare discovery in the last few years are cleansing balms and cleansing oils - the ones you use before your regular cleanser that emusilfy with water and remove all your makeup and water resistant sunscreen very effectively, without stripping your skin. If you haven't tried them, Matilda, I'd highly recommend them!
Yes I've heard such good things about cleansing balms and oils! I find foaming cleansers work best for my skin to get a really crisp (not dry) clean feeling, but I hope to try some one day 👍 x
Ive been using the Avene cleansing gel for over a year and it has helped a whole lot with my skin, I started last year with tiny bumps all over my forehead and in a couple of weeks they were nearly fully gone and my skin has been great since.

So pleased you are back doing this kind of content and it looked like you had an amazing trip! I like a lot of the same things as you, but biggest discovery was probably finally getting my hands on some cerave products through iherb, really like the hydrating cleanser. Also fully embraced oils- I always thought on my combo/acne skin it wasn't a good idea but actually dry oils like Nuxe and also rosehip oil have been a revelation. xxx

I totally understand your thoughts because what might work for one person who had oily skin may not work for the person with normal to dry!
Skincare I think is very personalized and I do think that people should really dig deep and read up on the products that they are interested in!
First off, that intro layout was so satisfying. I was able to get my sister to bring me the Mecca sunscreen you've been raving about when we met up in Thailand, and I loved it! I was also doing some research today for an upcoming trip in Porto and Caudalie has a Vinotherapie Spa there... most definitely going to that! Will you be uploading more travel videos? I especially love the ones where you talk about discovering new skincare while abroad.

I do have a video coming but probably not until much later in the year given it came near the end of my 7 months away! 😂 It was such a sweet little city, nice and compact so easy to get around on foot. The Livraria Lello is their famous grand bookstore, a boat tour is a nice way to see the city from the water, and I really enjoyed the healthy burgers at Honorato which was recommended by a Portuguese foodie friend of mine x

I tried the Go-To face oil because of your channel and it was my best skin care discovery this year! I have very oily skin so trying a face oil seemed like a bad idea but it really helped with my breakouts and funny enough, made my skin less oily somehow.

The tide has turned and skincare became my 2018 focus (rather than makeup to cover it all up!). Ultraceautical moisturiser with spf 50 was a winner after finally coughing up the big bucks in late 2017. I have similar complexion and skin type to you and it’s the first product I’ve tried in my 30+ years that I’ve loved enough to actually get me in the habit of applying SPF everyday. And like you, no burns. It’s pricey but I only needed 2 tubes to last me for daily use over the year. I love the Go-to Properly Clean for my cleanser with my Clarisonic, and Alpha H Liquid Gold when I need gentle exfoliation. I indulge with the Laneige lip sleeping mask as my lips are very prone to cracking. Love love skincare videos and your simple style!

I would recommend the Etude House Glow on Primer, a little go a long way and it give you such a glowy look, just using it on it own give you such a healthy look, I would recommend the gold version for Dry skin and the normal version for oily skin!

i absolutely love your videos!! i could spend all day watching them!! we seem to love the same products so i always trust your input. i’ve tried out many different products you’ve featured on your channel and loved them all!! my favorite discoveries have been bioderma (the best makeup remover for my sensitive skin), the entire caudile brand (i’m obsessed with all their products), glossier moisturizing moon mask, necessarie’s body care products, and olive and june cuticle serum (an absolute life saver for my dry cuticles)!! i was wondering if you have any lip balm recommendations, something light enough to wear during the day but still hydrating enough to sooth my dry lips. i’ve tried the laneige lip mask, but it wasn’t very hydrating on me. i greatly value your opinion and would love to hear your input!! thank you, hope you’re having an amazing day!! :)

The set-up of all the skincare together is so satisfying! For me, the stand out skincare product of 2018 is 'Klairs Supple preparation Unscented toner'. It's lovely. Also The Ordinary Retinoid 5 % in squalane was also a gamechanger!

Matilda, I know this might be different to what you mostly cover on your channel but can you please do a video or post about how you organised what to do on your trip overseas? A 3 week trip stresses me out trying to organise stuff as it is but a 7 month trip...I’d go insane.
Thanks for asking Tracy! Probably not a good fit for my content at the moment unfortunately, but I would like to talk about travel more in future. Do you mean planning activities for a trip? I actually don't book anything in advance - I'm someone who prefers to explore on foot and discover a city myself, rather than join any tours or excursions. I research online, in travel books, blogs etc so I get an idea of areas and things I'd like to see, then loosely plan my days based on opening times or weather etc. I wasn't strictly 'travelling' for 7 months straight, there were a few months of working in one city in between, plus several visits to cities I'd been before so the pace was more leisurely. My advice would always be to choose fewer destinations and spend more time in them, so you can take your time and not feel like you're stressed trying to fit a million things in each day 👍 x

My current skincare obsession is the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner (long name, I know). It's so soft that it feels like an essence, and has helped my hormonally plagued skin regain some of its former glory. It a great base for my moisturizer, too!

So many things to add to my “to try” list! I tried the caudalie exfoliate earlier this year after some research online but unfortunately it was too abrasive for my skin. I switched to the Tatcha rice powder for dry skin and it’s sooooooo nice and gentle

Glad you're interested in skincare! 👍 But remember, teenage skin is changing a LOT (even in your early twenties) so it might not be a good idea to invest in a lot of products given they might not be that effective in a short amount of time x

Caudalie’s face mist is amaaaaazing!! I use it to prep my skin for makeup. Have you ever tried Peter Thomas Roth’s masks? Apparently they’re huge moisture boosts!

Matilda you need to try and review The Ordinary skincare. It’s an affordable skincare brand based in Canada, and one of the brands under the Deciem umbrella. The products don’t have glowy names like « The Pore Minimizer » or « The Glow Getter », instead they simply mention the main ingredient in the product, so you need to research and educate yourself on ingredients to figure out what your skin actually needs (lucky for us, their website is full of very helpful information).
I am recommending this to you because I think it will tick all your boxes as it is minimalist and straight to the point ! Hope you like it ☺️

Hi just wanted to say I've been using the sukin super greens moisturiser for 2 years now it's completely natural , cheap and so moisturising I have acne and it doesn't make my skin irritated or oily I also have dry skin it's so moisturising I'd recommend this so much and would love if you could review the brand ! For me 2018 was big in skincare. I discovered glorious, organic sunscreen from Erbaviva, it’s very moisturizing, no need for any additional cream.
Fell in love with Pai Rosehip oil and Skinfood Propolis essence. I also noticed that when I use very hydrating essence, I can go straight to few drops of oil and sunscreen.
Also, 2018 was my first year of sunscreen every day.

Hi! Was wondering if you would recommend using bioderma as a morning cleanse? I was also wondering if you thought guys should be double cleansing even if they don't wear makeup at all (just sunscreen)? Always love your videos!
Thank you! Unfortunately I can't give any skincare advice - I'm just a regular beauty lover, not an expert or a makeup artist. I personally don't have a cleansing routine in the morning so Bioderma is sometimes what I use to refresh my skin before moisturiser and sunscreen. Double cleansing is really about personal preference - I always like to feel like I've removed any makeup/dirt/grime/pollution from the day first, then the second cleanse can really clean your skin 👍 Best to do some more research! x

My favorite skincare discovery in the last few years are cleansing balms and cleansing oils - the ones you use before your regular cleanser that emusilfy with water and remove all your makeup and water resistant sunscreen very effectively, without stripping your skin. If you haven't tried them, Matilda, I'd highly recommend them!
Yes I've heard such good things about cleansing balms and oils! I find foaming cleansers work best for my skin to get a really crisp (not dry) clean feeling, but I hope to try some one day 👍 x

Ive been using the Avene cleansing gel for over a year and it has helped a whole lot with my skin, I started last year with tiny bumps all over my forehead and in a couple of weeks they were nearly fully gone and my skin has been great since.
