I literately use 4 products and that includes my face wash, my skin has never been happier. My dry skin is quenched and my rosacea is soothed so 100% support simplicity and consistency!
Prescription retinol, sunscreen, Cetaphil face wash and my moisturizer, day and night ( for literally the whole body) basically looks like a tub of baby cream- the South African version is called epimax.
1. VT CICA oil cleanser 2. Cleanser (honestly I think everthing is fine) 3. Aveeno toner 4. Moisturizer: I switch between isntree HA moisturizer or the Illiyoon ato cream 5. Sunscreen (at day time): nivea jp sunscreen (on stylevana) 6. Nuxe lip balm
Between dry winter skin and awful breakouts on my chin this vid has made me realise I need to stop trying new things for a while and go back to basics…thanks for another great vid! ❤
I used your Lait-Crème Concentré trick from the updated winter makeup routine video and I have to thank you so much for that! It’s incredible. My skin gets sooooo dry and irritated during the winter which makes my makeup cling to the dry spots and point them out. This was a game changer!
Ever since I started following Dr Shereene Idriss I have escaled back on my product count sooo much: 3 products in the morning and then 4 or 5 at night (either I exfoliate or use retinol). Game changer! ❤
Oh my Allana, this is such a much needed video as I told went through it with my skin and when I was finally able to see my Dermatologist I took all the skincare I was using and she did and said basically the same thing. At that time I had contact dermatitis from using too many products and I don’t have sensitive skin. Needless to say she got me to simplify things and my skin is loving it. No more million and one things on my skin and since I’m now working from home where I don’t need to wear makeup, my skin is thriving. I get so much compliments on how beautiful my skin is and I love ❤️ it.
So nice to see this condensed skincare routine! I’ve also been struggling recently with my sensitive skin so this came at the perfect time! Happy #lanmas!
I've noticed such a difference in my skin since simplifying my routine as well! My skin is less angry, less red, less prone to breakout and it's been such a relief! Keeping it under 5 products every day and night!
Allana I bought the Tatcha indigo overnight repair cream bc of your recommendation during the Black Friday sale and I’m in love. I’m on tretinoin rn with Dermatica and my skin loves it. I also picked up the CosRx snail musin gel to try instead of the Vichey hyaluronic acid and it’s really nice. Happy LANMAS ❤
Thanks for this Lan. I have recently been struggling with acne (at 37😫) have taken my routine right back to basics and my skin seems to be happier for it. Love as always ❤
I used the Vichy mineral 89 for months thanks to your recommendation & in one order, they sent me a travel size of their HA serum and OMG the difference between the two!!! Would definitely recommend trying it, your dry skin will thank you!
It’s crazy how Canada works with their health system, max time I’ve needed to wait to see a dermatologist was a month… So grateful for our health system
I went on accutane for 8 months and had to really simplify my routine. I definitely was overdoing it. I loved the simplicity and my skin did too! I still have stuck with the same routine but added back the ZO complexion pads and my skin has been so happy! I am glad I am already following a similar routine with all of my information from my family doctor! The wait list in Canada for the derm is wild!! 🤍🤍 love LANMAS!!!
I love skincare so much! Listed to this while basking in a glorious hydrating mask. My favourite travel containers are hands down the Muji ones! They have tons of options for a good price.
As someone that was introduced to your channel by your bathroom skincare tour and also felt a rush watching you go through it all I'm so glad/ proud of you. I too got caught up in the skincare fun but getting my skincare down to just the basics/ what's actually needed has done wonders for my skin/ wallet / bathroom shelf. Goodbye mindless consumerism hello intentional purchase in an attempt to save the planet 😂.
“Consistency is key” and works best for me, but I always manage to mess it up by packing random samples when I travel for work or play 🤦♀️. I can’t wait to see how you like the laser treatments; I’m starting my first series of IPL in January, as well!
Do I have the polar opposite skin from you? Yes. Did I still watch this? Absolutely. I think we all went through a skin care craze and are now realizing we don’t need it all. Lasers work amazing! Just wish the results lasted forever lol 💸😂
For travel toiletry containers - I recommend Cadence Capsules! They are pricey but they are super easy to clean, environmentally friendly and magnetic! I got mine when they had a different version a year ago but they are great. Another nice thing with the new design is you can choose between a smaller size or a larger one and customize more. They are way better than those plastic ones from the dollar section or the silicone ones.
Thanks for breaking it all down and going through your conversation with Dr. Belaznay - it's great to hear the specialist recommendations, especially for someone living in Canada, where it does take 100 years to get any specialist appointment!! Could you talk about the Helsa cardigan in a future video? I've been eyeing this exact one and it looks fantastic!
I had really bad rosacea and had the IPL laser and it really helped. I got three initial treatments and now I just go once a year. The initial treatments were a little pricey but the maintenance ones I'm only charged $160. It's totally worth it.
this is such a great video and so accurate that as much as sometimes as I love all the serums, in the winter I use mostly 4-5 products as it's so bloody cold and all my skin needs is nice hydration, but I will always have eye cream, face cream and cleanser + mostly retinol / vitamin C, I totally need to do the clean up as well
I do agree that sometimes less is more for the skin and I have also noticed a difference. I don’t really like eye cream but if I use one it’s def the auto correct by Sunday Riley or the Agent Nateur eye serum because I see the difference instantly. If I can just say one thing is that the Skin Ceuticals retinol is the worst retinol I have ever tried. It burned my skin and when I asked around it’s because it’s not encapsulated anyways hope it hope it works for you xx
I need to buy the Vichy serum, thanks for the reminder! That is the only hyaluronic acid that works for me, I often find them sticky or not agreeing with my other products. 💕
Just in time for my lunch break! I’m also trying to reduce the amount of products I’m using.. Ive been using way too much and nothing really works - trying out Korean skincare…fingers crossed
I am normal an oily skin gal and as I got older and had kids, I have noticed in the winter my skin is dryer. At first I thought oh this is horrible but it is actually nice because I love use a lot of hydrating and glowy products! ❤
I paired my routine down and stopped using a lot of trendy products and my skin has been so consistently nice! But I do miss having an elaborate routine some nights 🫣
Same story here! I was using a TON of skin care products, multiple serums, different cleansers etc and my skin was not getting better. After vising a dermatologist I reduced them to 4 (cleanser, serum, cream, spf) and my face is glowing! (well most of the time haha). If anyone is interested, all the products that I use now and where recommended by my dermatologist are from La roche posay and they are: -> cleanser: Effaclar H ISO-Biome, -> serum: Effaclar serum ultra concentre (omg what a dream product), -> cream: Effaclar DUO+M and finally the good old trusty -> spf: Anthelios oil control fluid.
My skincare routine is essentially what your stripped back one has become. Just remember that if you're using tret it's doing the heavy living and nothing else you use needs to be absolute maximum strength (except for sunscreen). I do have an oil in my evening routine as well because even though I have oily skin, for me it's essential to keep away the tret peeling, I just mix the Ordinary Marula Oil in with my moisturiser, I keep it simple because it's just there for adding oil back into my skin and doesn't need to be some $200 oil with a bunch of actives in it. Expensive and/or super strong/active isn't always better, especially not combined with tret!
I agree, no reason to clean and strip your face again. If anything, put cool water and some Caudalie Micellar water on a cotton round. This is a good idea, I do actually see some leftover makeup sometimes. Plus, it makes my face feel so clean and refreshed. I love that Caudalie spray, it's very hydrating.
I used to really over do the serums and face masks and now I keep it so simple and also incorporated facial massage daily and I feel like that’s improved my skin texture and general health and I used to be super oily and now my skin is normal 😮
I have minimized my skincare as well, and it has been the best decision. Morning: no cleanser, just water, Bioderma Sensibio serum, La Roche Posay Toleriane, and La Roche Posay sunscreen. Night time, same thing, excpet no sunscreen and Rhode’s essence first. That’s it: 3 products max for each routine while keeping it consistent amongst the products
I started keeping my mini size containers and refilling them from their full size counterparts. Great little hack to save some coin and you never have to worry about the brands not making them anymore!
I’m so going to do a clear out. Because I have so many hydrators that I open a store Lit-Ra-Lay!!! I pretty much stick to the same one! Thank you for inspiring once again!!! Happy #lanmas 🎉❤😊🎄
This was great! Something new and interesting. I am in West Van, will have to try and get in to see Dr Belaznay. I can only get in to see my derm every 18 months for skin cancer checkup. No time for the "finer" things. Thank you!
I used to struggle soooo much with my skin (SUPER dry, sensitive, irritated, acne) but then in the past few years I’ve really scaled back my skincare / stuck to a consistent routine and it’s helped so much! Now I always get compliments on my skin. For anyone who might be interested this is my routine Morning: - Dr Loretta Gentle Hydrating Cleanser - holifrog utopia toner - dr loretta intense replenishing serum - Sephora collection caffeine eye cream - dr loretta vitamin c moisturizer Night: - Glow Recipe papaya cleansing balm - Dr Loretta Gentle Hydrating Cleanser - holifrog utopia toner - dr loretta intense replenishing serum - Sephora collection caffeine eye cream - prescription tretinoin - Sephora collection nourishing moisturizer for skin barrier
Simple is key for most things in life lol😅 I buy basic SDM pharmacy skincare and my cash goes towards treatments and it’s been a godsend !! Glad you were able to see a dermatologist, 2 year wait list in Ontario…
Over the years I have managed to maintain a consistent skin routine, but I love trying new products, but I always have to be careful because I also have sensitive and reactive skin!
I did the same thing as you, using the embrolisse as a primer after my skincare, who knew? Amazon has the best travel containers, just used them. Lancôme has great eye makeup remover.
Sometimes, we can do everything right with our diet, our sleep, and our skincare and STILL get breakouts. As women, we’ve got that lovely monthly hormonal reminder.
Honestly I used to have like a 15 step skin care routine and I thought my skin was sooo dry and a bit ago I stopped using a lot of products. I just wash my face after I remove my makeup and some days add face cream some days I don’t and my skin is sooo much better now and not dry at all anymore. I feel we start to become dependent on moisturizer or like lip balms.
Less is more. In products and also eating. I realised a huge difference when I started beeing a vegetarian. I also realised that my sweat was smelling "better" 😄 Now I rarely eat meat or fish but overall I love eating healthy, doing sports and using sunscreen, less make up cause I am at home. My biggest struggle right now is enough drinking 😅
I have also been going through some unexpectes breakouts on my skin... 😢 will try to keep it simple as well. And jumping on that tretinoin train eheh (as advises by me dermatologist!)
As an Esthetician. It brings me joy when people say they are stripping back. Thank God. The amount of people I speak to who have like 7+ steps. I get tired just listening. There is no way it's sustainable long-term. Plus most skincare is a mix of actives in different concentration maybe a tweak here and there. It doesn't need to be fanciful. Tik tok is basically just one big ad. You don't need a lot of shit. I promise.
if you waiting for a family doctor in BC I highly recommend seeing a nurse practitioner is the mean time. I have actually found that my nurse is way more thorough because she has more time with each patient. Honestly I dont think I'll even get a doctor now because I get better care from a nurse honestly.
I just got a facial and found out my skin care routine has ruined my skin. Now I've gotten all the right products so I'm hoping to see progress in my skin
Yeah, so easy to say - simplify... When I just love all my products and I just can't think of putting them down even just for a little bit 😂 However... lately my skin gets extremely dry due to freezing windy winter, so I stopped using my retinal and got regular moisturizing products (ceramidin by dr Jart and Embryolisse). Strangest thing happened - my skin never looked better. It's still dry and I need to put moisture in couple layers, but it's bouncy and happy. My plan is to get enough moisture so I can get back to retinal. Very helpful vid!
I know as an infuencer but also as a consumer myself you get fomo with skincare. But I've been using only 2 serums for the last 2 weeks and oh my god the difference in my skin barrier that I can now use actives a couple times a week whereas before I thought my skin hated everything. I get tempted to push it and always feel the consequences immediately. Barrier support first. I'm going to get my first ever peel in a couple weeks which I would Never have considered had I not been following a simple routine.
Great video. I love how you guide us to choose the right products instead of constantly trying to make us buy products. That's why I'm not disappointed when I buy a product you recommend. Thanks Lan! ❤
I just started using the mini NU Face device and I love it so much, I already think it's worth it. I can definitely take 5 min each day to use it and I would also love to have a LED Light Therapy Face Mask. It's time for us '93 babies to use them devices constantly. 😶🌫
Ditto on the simplification! I feel like it's much easier to keep a routine when you're not burdened by a million products too... Also lol my bf tried Pharrell's skincare line for about 2 years and it literally made his skin worse. As soon as he stopped using it and went back to soap and water his skin is near perfect now. Ugh men *shakes fist*
I literately use 4 products and that includes my face wash, my skin has never been happier. My dry skin is quenched and my rosacea is soothed so 100% support simplicity and consistency!
Which 4 products?
ughhh this is the DREAM! Give us the product breakdown!
Prescription retinol, sunscreen, Cetaphil face wash and my moisturizer, day and night ( for literally the whole body) basically looks like a tub of baby cream- the South African version is called epimax.
@megansmith2818, what retinol and sunscreen do you use that doesn’t flare your rosacea??
1. VT CICA oil cleanser
2. Cleanser (honestly I think everthing is fine)
3. Aveeno toner
4. Moisturizer: I switch between isntree HA moisturizer or the Illiyoon ato cream
5. Sunscreen (at day time): nivea jp sunscreen (on stylevana)
6. Nuxe lip balm

I sooo agree it’s information overload on the internet and can get so overwhelming. This was so helpful!!
Ever since I started following Dr Shereene Idriss I have escaled back on my product count sooo much: 3 products in the morning and then 4 or 5 at night (either I exfoliate or use retinol). Game changer! ❤

Beautiful as always!! I wish every month was Lanmas 😂❤️
Me too hehehehe it's so fun!!! 🤍
We appreciate you!! ❤

This sounds like really good advice to pare down the skin care a bit. I cant wait to see how your lazer and IPL treatments go.
no i needed this bc ive been watching all your previous winter skincare videos the last few days bc my skins going through ittttttt
This is a good reminder. It’s easy to start stacking! Also.. lovvvve that sweater
I used the Vichy mineral 89 for months thanks to your recommendation & in one order, they sent me a travel size of their HA serum and OMG the difference between the two!!! Would definitely recommend trying it, your dry skin will thank you!

Simplify is such a safe way to reset for a new season. Great video ❤
for travel- the Cadence capsules are great! They are just little pods you can fill with anything even to throw in purse but also longer travels
I loved this video! I love talking skincare and learning new things! Thanks for sharing
This is the one! This is the video I have been waaaaaiting on 🤗
Ah I’ve never been this early! Merry Lanmas 🥰
I SEE YOU!!! ✨ XO
“Consistency is key” and works best for me, but I always manage to mess it up by packing random samples when I travel for work or play 🤦♀️.

Do you still use the Weleda skin food? I love it and bought it because of you.
Clear and brilliant is so good!!
Thanks for this. Love the Vichy mineral 89 serum
Can I ask where you got the stand you put your skincare on? Love that green colour
Thanks x
Love skincare ✨️✨️ always make me feel so much better
I had really bad rosacea and had the IPL laser and it really helped. I got three initial treatments and now I just go once a year. The initial treatments were a little pricey but the maintenance ones I'm only charged $160. It's totally worth it.
Lanmas is so comforting!
Oh, I was waiting for this!! 🙏🏼

Korean skincare is seriously 🔥. I highly recommend trying some form of snail mucin. Super hydrating and helps with a lot of different skin issues.
This is a needed video...my skin hasn't been happy lately. Will definitely do a revamp
First I must say that I love your sweater, so cute on you. Great skincare line up, I love the Tatcha indigo overnight cream.
SAME SAME SAME!!! Im an esthetician and still fall into over stimulating my skin with too many products! Thanks for the inspo ♥️
But I do miss having an elaborate routine some nights 🫣
perfect routine ❤❤❤ love you Al
Simple is best! One thing - the fragrance in the embryolisse could also be irritating if your skin is sensitive.
Thanks for sharing! Love hearing about skin care routine’s!
Hi Allana what a wonderful skincare routine 😊 xx
Alana please try Korean brand skincare life changing for my dry ass skin😭😭😭
I am guilty of using way too many products. Lol, I know I'm doing it yet. I can't stop. I will work on it. Love your grey sweater 😍
Same story here! I was using a TON of skin care products, multiple serums, different cleansers etc and my skin was not getting better. The store under the sink! 😂💗💗
Thank youuu for LANMAS it’s a put a smile on my face and cheered me up today 🥹💖💖 also encouraged me to a Taylor dance party work out! 🪩
I NEED to know where you got that lazy suzan trayyyyyy - link please!
Allana, you know Caudalie still have the travelsize right? At least in Europe. It's the 75 ml and love to use it for travelling!
I love the Clinique Moisture Surge cream, it is lightweight and makes my skin feel amazing 😊
I need the purchase the Vichy! Every time you mention it, I want it
I started keeping my mini size containers and refilling them from their full size counterparts. Great little hack to save some coin and you never have to worry about the brands not making them anymore!
My dermatology appointments:
WAIT MONTHS TO BE SEEN TO ONLY BE SEEN FOR 3 MINUTES
😂
10000% SOS lol
I’m so going to do a clear out. Because I have so many hydrators that I open a store Lit-Ra-Lay!!! I pretty much stick to the same one! Thank you for inspiring once again!!! Happy #lanmas 🎉❤😊🎄
I just started getting BBL treatments and I LOVE them! Will definitely ask my aesthetician about the Clear & Brilliant.
Morning:
- Dr Loretta Gentle Hydrating Cleanser
- holifrog utopia toner
- dr loretta intense replenishing serum
- Sephora collection caffeine eye cream
- dr loretta vitamin c moisturizer
Night:
- Glow Recipe papaya cleansing balm
- Dr Loretta Gentle Hydrating Cleanser
- holifrog utopia toner
- dr loretta intense replenishing serum
- Sephora collection caffeine eye cream
- prescription tretinoin
- Sephora collection nourishing moisturizer for skin barrier
Great video. I agree with so many of the comments. Also... what size did you get it that sweater? It looks great on you!
Simple is key for most things in life lol😅 I buy basic SDM pharmacy skincare and my cash goes towards treatments and it’s been a godsend !! Glad you were able to see a dermatologist, 2 year wait list in Ontario…
I agree just a few simple products. So easy to want try new stuff but I always go back😂
Do you prefere eye cream in the morning or at nighttime?
Over the years I have managed to maintain a consistent skin routine, but I love trying new products, but I always have to be careful because I also have sensitive and reactive skin!
I need to reduce my line up too! My skin has not been happy
Muji has the best travel containers for skincare
I did the same thing as you, using the embrolisse as a primer after my skincare, who knew? Amazon has the best travel containers, just used them. Lancôme has great eye makeup remover.
I’m your age and I’m makeup/skin care illiterate so I really appreciate the help when it comes to keeping these fine lines in check 🙏🙏
I have that same tretinoin from Mexico and it’s a game changer! 💯 (I only use it periodically though, not throughout the year.)
I have cut down on products too. One serum in the day and night and a bioderma moisturizer. Also, saving a lot of money 😂😂
I’ve been layering all the moisturizers and it still feels dry on an off day 😅
I was recently looking at the Vichy product! How is it for your dryness?
Less is more. In products and also eating. I realised a huge difference when I started beeing a vegetarian. I also realised that my sweat was smelling "better" 😄
Now I rarely eat meat or fish but overall I love eating healthy, doing sports and using sunscreen, less make up cause I am at home. My biggest struggle right now is enough drinking 😅
I have also been going through some unexpectes breakouts on my skin... 😢 will try to keep it simple as well. And jumping on that tretinoin train eheh (as advises by me dermatologist!)
You should try the garnier micellar water!!
As an Esthetician. It brings me joy when people say they are stripping back. Thank God. The amount of people I speak to who have like 7+ steps. I get tired just listening. Love your sweater
I just got a facial and found out my skin care routine has ruined my skin. Now I've gotten all the right products so I'm hoping to see progress in my skin
This is going to help my skin routine so much! I feel like I just throw whatever on and call
It good. Not much of a routine at all. Haha

I NEED to do this. I use way too much on my face and it is Angry!!!
I am a skin care junkie! Love ALL the things!🎄🧴
I had to purchase the rotating organizer you have but opted for the 3-tier. It will solve my countertop clutter issues.
Do you have a link or a name for it? Thx
