@GigaElectricBird Yeah from 51-55 looks about 30-40 feet from the ground over the water, not sure about 56-59 it varies, could be from 30 to 60 feet in places.
I wonder how many people realize that there was supposed to be a bypass on Moravia Road from the I-95 exit to connect with I-695 between MD-702 and MD-150/Eastern Blvd. at that sharp turn near Chesaco Avenue. That's why there's no exit 37 on I-695, because that was to be exit 37. That's also why the sign on the off ramp has a blank green sign on it, because that sign was to point travelers to go east on Moravia Road toward I-695. That bypass was not only going to connect Moravia Road to I-695, but also extend that part of the beltway north from the MD-702 interchange to about Chase, while the beltway went north toward I-95, hence the elaborate interchange and wide median at MD-702. Just one of a few connections not made regarding I-95 between the two connections to I-695 (exits 49 and 64), not to mention a lack of interchanges past the Rosedale Interchange.
Great video. I know that stretch of 95 really well. Interesting that earlier plans for this crossing of Baltimore Harbor called for a suspension bridge and not a tunnel.
The Fort McHenry Tunnel IS Awesome to drive through - and I've done it in both directions. Still want to get the Big Dig Tunnel Collection (Boston, MA) though.
i played this video to Pandora today's Radio and was the best fun I had in a while i have driven thi s route without the turn around and still the best way to DC
There is also a Philips Restaurant in Harborplace itself. Despite Power Plant Live and ESPNZONE both shuttering (both were WAY before Covid-19), there are still many fantastic places to eat there.
@GigaElectricBird About 5-7 miles and it was to have merged with I-95, there are stub ramps still visible where this was to happen around Exit 51, there are maps of the proposed route on the roads tot he future .com website.
Makes me curious why New York City is the control city for 95 north instead of Philadelphia... (Aside from a layover at JFK airport in NYC, I have never been in Northeast)
It is because most traffic uses I-295 to the New Jersey Turnpike and bypasses Wilmington/Philadelphia, but you're right, Philadelphia or Wilmington should be the control!
You are correct on that, but what if once the flyover ramps at the 95/PA Turnpike interchange is complete next year, it will cause traffic to divert onto 95 through Philly.
My only theory is because of the I-95 gap. I-95 isn’t complete from Philly to NYC because of the gap north of Trenton. But with the PA Turnpike/95 interchange, 95 will be complete. So hopefully the signage will change
Sorry but I forgot to mention that I do appreciate the thought and I did play around with your suggestion, I just did not like the grey-green combo, but I did like yellow on grey so I might use that at some point. I will agree that the purple may not look as good as some other colors, I think Green works the best but I try to change up the colors for each video.
Great Video. I'd like to suggest you make the comments and location banner at the bottom in colors which blend in better. How about medium grey for the background and green for the letters.
Now, that's a $3 toll... still worlds cheaper than any of those toll bridges/tunnels linking NY and NJ, as well as the toll passageways in the 5 boroughs.
I don't want the text banners to blend in better, I want them to stand out so people can read it and I don't think Med grey and green letters would look good at all. Any mid to dark color with white lettering works fine, I used the purple band as it is the Baltimore Ravens primary color.

The Benelux Tunnel in Rotterdam, the Netherlands has 10 lanes and passes under the port of Rotterdam. It's a little shorter though.
The I-95/I-695 stack used to be more nightmarish - both Interstates used to switch sides through the interchange.
I was in the BWI area recently, I got to know I-195 quite well. Surprisingly, you can go about 3-4 miles outside of BWI and you're in a small town.

They will most likely still use I-295 to the Turnpike as it avoids the traffic in Philadelphia and Wilmington and presumably is quicker.
