I am having the BEST FUN!! with your patterns! - I've made the hats and now at tackling mittens - haven't sewn in 30 years ... what a great way to get re-acquainted with my machine!!
I GOT IT !!!! praise God!! Wow! I'm so happy!!🙏🙂hooray!! Thank you so very much!! I couldn't have done it without your help!! Now it all makes sense! I did have the thumb pieces wrong. I started from the beginning. I took everything apart & watched the video again . Success!
I love these mittens 🥰 ! 🙃! I have finished and they are ready to wear! Of course I had to do one more "bone head" thing. When I sewed the wrist together and was ready to put the whole thing together, the thumbs were opposite. Just to keep me humble👼 🎅❄🛷⛷thank you again and Merry Christmas! Stay healthy
Do I spread the thumb flaps? Does the thumb piece go between the front and back? I keep trying and trying. I don't want to give up. I really want to do this.
I'm having trouble understanding if you sew the top and bottom thumb together with a .5 inch seam, how does the external material attach evenly to that when no seams were made on the external material?
I know I’m hard of hearing but do all the mitten sizes you posted have an half inch seam allowance? I sewed the small mittens with a half inch seam and the thumb is way to narrow. Thanks
I wish there was a better angle of when the lining and mitten are sewn together. I can't tell if the mitten is sewn on top of the lining leaving a gap or if you are putting the lining inside the mitten before sewing it and leaving a gap.
so .... do we add elastic to the lining? It looks like not - and it might feel uncomfortable. A group I'm in is making warm things for people experiencing homelessness. Outreach workers can give them to folks living outdoors as a way to establish a connection and then connect them to resources and appropriate apartments. It's called "Housing First" and bypasses obstacles to first establish safety. Getting ID, military records, medical records, etc don't have to be navigated before establishing a subsidy or a lease. But I digress. I've got a couple fleece blankets I wasn't using and some t-shirts that I don't wear any more and fleece for the outers, t-shirts for the lining! Find a local organization where you live and see if you might do the same. I used to be the food director for one such non-profit, so I learned a lot from co-workers and food clients & guests.
I really enjoyed the video and so subscribed and went to your website to download the instructions for the mittens. I cannot find the pdf to download. Everything takes me to the written instructions or your video but nothing I click on gives me the pattern. What am I doing wrong? I would really like the pattern. Thanks,
Hi Pat sorry you're having trouble. Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "Download the pattern here" below there are texts links in pink for each of the files.
Fleece Fun Thank you so much for your quick reply. I just tried your instructions and was able to print the pattern. Looking forward to making them now. And, thank you for the video and the sewing helps. So good for those of us who are very visual learners!!
Why can't I get this. No matter what I do. If you would please explain how to set the thumb onto the mitten. I sewed the thumb a from the bottom then across to the other side like the red marker showed. Yikes! Please
Ok the mitten is 3 pieces. The first step is to make the side that has the thumb. Line up the two thumb pieces, sew around the thumb and then Accross the mitten. This will then make Half of the mitten with the thumb piece.
@@FleeceFun okay then what do I do? I can't understand how to get my thumb into the mitten thumb. I feel like such a bone head. Do I put 1mitten piece then the thumb piece then the other mitten piece together and sew around? I don't know what to do with the 2 bottom parts of the thumb piece. If I leave them together I can't get my hand in?? Please forgive me for being such a bone head. I'm embarrassed. I thank you for your patience and help.
@@blaiseporta7794 ok. The two thumb pieces you sew together complete thumb - They form half of the mitten ( the side that is the inside (palm) of the hand. You then take this half and sew it to the other large rounded piece you have cut out. Lay the piece flat out on the surface so the thumb is on top, the rounded piece points up and the bottom ( the cuff) points down. Also you might consider looking at the written tutorial to help you.
I really hope you see my post. I just noticed that most of the comments are from a year ago . Please help me!🥺 I keep trying and trying to put all the pieces into a mitten and I just can't figure out how
@@FleeceFun I don't know how to lay the pieces together. The front back and thumb . I have 3 pieces and I just can't figure out how to put the thumb piece into the front and back. I seriously tried for hours. I just don't get it. Nothing I tried works. I'm going crazy
@@blaiseporta7794 lay the two thumb pieces together - the two thumbs one on top of the other - Make sure that the thumb is on the right side of BOTH pieces. . They line up - the rest of the curved part fits together - but won't line up when laying flat - you just need to pin it and sew it together. But I say this with all the LOVE in the world if you're not getting it from the video or the written tutorial maybe this pattern isn't for you and you need a simpler one that won't confuse you. :(
Fleece has no ability to stop wind whatsoever. To actually make them warm, a windproof or Goretex shell should be on the outside and fleece should be inside. These are for looks, not for actual warmth.
Extremely frustrating. Spent half an hour on the site looking for the adult pattern and never found it. I would prefer to pay for the pattern than lose 80% of my screen to advertising. I won't be back.
Hi Marie I’m sorry you feel frustrated. The links are located at the end of the post under the section “download the pattern below”. They are text links with the size listed. While I can see that ads are not always pleasant the truth is that when given the choice between dealing with advertising vs paying most people won’t pull out their wallets. This is the model that I have chosen for my business and understand that it not everyone’s cup of tea.

Thank you for such a talented pattern. They came out beautiful!
You are wonderful and I appreciate how simple you make this.
Thanks Tahnee!
your instructions are perfect. I am left handed, so some reason every mitten I made was for the left hand. They were nice though. :-)
Love this pattern everything thing is so simple,.I have such a hard time reading patterns, that's why i look to you tube

Do I need 1/3 yard for the lining and 1/3 yard for the outside or is it 1/3 yard total?

why is that little tip on the thumb side? The pieces would go together better with just a slight arch all the way across, wouldn't they?
