Today I dwelve deep into mix bus processing, one of my favorite topics. Mix bus processing can be crucial to make a mix sound better, but if you don't do it right you can kill your mix. In this video I share my own mix bus processing, mindset and philosophy.

reverb, especially convolution stuff also works good on busses. i try to think of bus stuff as taking disparate bits and putting them in the same space recorded all at once by the same gear. or at least attempting to emulate that sorta feel. i think thats why people always use words like "glue" for this step

I figure mastering is where you could get creative. I just use a regular chain for mastering, and I should change it out. For all intents and purposes its a better case to master from a few descrete stems. One has the latitude to choose the final product more so now than the past. The fewer tools applied to your final mix or master the better'
Its simple physics, common sense and reality, Write create, rinse and repeat
The trump card is wether you think it sounds good, just get shit (levels) in the competative ballpark. Not much else to do.

Agree, mastering is all about small tweaks

So because I do my own mastering, I do what can be called mix-bus processing on the clips for my EP/album as well as an overall processing to give it a cohesive shape.
And yes, subtlety goes a long way when doing it because it’s about an overall tone and shape. Hence mastering grade EQs and compressors play more of a role here.

exactly! Is a very detailed work, almost not noticeable until you A/B the full chain
