  • Well I made yet another mistake and forgot to check my propeller when flying from tall grass. This one cost me money and time for repair to one of my best STOL planes. The Country Lee Farm will let me mow that area now so I will not have this issue again, Lesson Learned the hard way.#rclife #aviation #rc #rcaircraft #eflite #rcplanes #adirondackmountains #Carboncubz#eflite#tughill

    Cheers for sharing this important lesson about the tall grass! Only thing I can think of to do differently would have been to bank and dive around 5:08 to gain some airspeed to bring her back against that wind.

      Great place to fly for sure. Rough field operations require more attention to the RC plane for sure. Thanks for watching.

    I'll thank Mr. Lampman too that must not have been easy it was up there pretty high! Glad you got it back brother could have been ugly! Despite the trees you have some great fields up north my friend!

      Thanks Red Beard. Dylan is a arborist for a living so he is very good at climbing trees. I was very lucky he lives near me and Miss Greene knew of him. The Carbo Cub will be fixed in the next month of two depending on if the parts come in. Thanks for watching and your support my friend. RBM4E

    Hey Tug, man, what a bummer for sure! It's always one of your favorite planes that takes a hit it seems! Hopefully she's repaired and air worthy again soon! Thumbs up!

      Fred you right about that I almost want to buy a new one but in hopes that they will come out with a V2 with Air Tires and LED lights I will just fix this one. Thanks for watching and your kind words.

    That was so unfortunate tug, sorry to see the tree strike and hope you can get her airboune again soon, the motor must have been struggling to keep speed with the grass wrapped around it....jeff.

      Jeff indeed it was. Lucky I didn't burn the motor out. It is no different than a weed eater that gets long grass wrapped around it, The motor just couldn't turn fast enough to keep my altitude and the 20 mph wind kept pushing me. Thanks for watching.

      When I was a teenager that silly song stuck in my head ☺Crashes that can be prevented are always the worst. I should have checked the prop knowing my prop was catching the tops of that rough field. No excuse for not doing so. My fault 100% Thanks for watching 👍👍

      Yes the motor is fine, The spinner and collet need to be replaced. I should have it back flying next month do to finance issues. Its ok to crash or make mistakes when flying RC. Stuff happens but sometimes the cost is more than we have to fix it right away as well as the parts needed being out of stock. Thanks for watching and your comments.

    Ouch! Sorry this happened,Tug.😢 It is a beautiful area to fly over. Those darn trees sometimes just reach out and grab ya. At least you got the main parts back. 🍀🤞🏻on repair.

      Thanks JCB67 , stuff happens when you do not time time to check it over during rough field operations. Expensive lesson learned and I got permission to mow that pasture now.

    Dang that sucks glad the damage wasnt too bad guess it was lucky to have stayed in the tree the fall down might have had really damaged something glad its not too bad and you will have it back flying in no time

    • @tughillrc6327
      @tughillrc6327  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes Larry it wasn't so bad but there where things I could have done to prevent that crash. 100% RC Pilot error. #1 I should have checked my prop after every landing. #2 I should have dove the plane and did a kick turn with the rudder to avoid the tree line. I could have did a landing in the dirt field with no damage. #3 I was distracted by why I was losing power and not focused on flying the plane. 3 strikes and my wallet and time to repair is the cost of my mistakes. Live and learn. Thanks for watching and your support.

    So sorry to see this happen to such a great model, Tug. But at least it's back in your possession and just needs a little TLC to get flying again. I look forward to the remaiden flight!

      Dylan was instrumental on getting this plane back. Being a disabled veteran there was no way I could weld a pole over 60 feet long. I would have needed 20 feet more to get it out and over a damage from hour of poking it. He got it out with minimal damage from the pole. It is very easy to repair and will be flying next month sometime if my parts come in. Thanks for watching El Captian &Gina

    • @tughillrc6327
      @tughillrc6327  2 місяці тому +1

      Well my friend, this mistake was very preventable by just taking a few moments to check over the RC aircraft for anything that would be a issue with flight. I simply forget to do the check and dearly paid for it.Tganks for watching and your supportive words.

      Yes Alex, Long grass is a hazard but can happen doing STOL/Rough Field flying. This plane has the best landing gear for flying off unimproved ground and even after the 75 foot fall from the tree is very fixable. My left wing took the main impact. Thanks for watching and your kind words.
