So pleased to hear someone promote carrying a physical Bible to Church. Phones and Tablets are a distraction....I've seen so many 'tune out' of worship and teaching to check their texts/emails. Or if 'bored'.... play games. And those are just the adults😢
it's hard to really engage deeply with something (for me) without writing in it and being pretty familiar with it as a physical object. I guess that is why I am such a fan of carrying a real Bible.
I grew up where not bringing a physical bible to church was almost a sin, I currently go to a United Methodist church, and no one brings a bible to church, it's something I miss. I always have a bible in my car or bag. But wish more people in the methodist church would carry there bible with them. Just a personal petpea
Of the bibles I own my favorite one is my Charles Stanley life Principles NKJB. I carry it to church because the NKJB is what my pastor uses when he preaches Sunday mornings.
Interesting Thomas Nelson is releasing the RSV in the sovereign collection personal size. On azm ships in a few weeks. I never realized that many people read or are starting to pickup the RSV. Any thoughts on that ??
I dig the RSV. I think many folks who want more higher level English, but don't want to party with the ESV or CEB crowd are finding a lot of affinity with it. It is the first modern, scholastic informed translation (post-Dead Sea Scrolls), and was (at one time) a highly-regarded translation. I'm cruising over to Amazon to look at that very edition now. Call me intrigued.
I don’t have a church specific Bible, but I am “team analog” and do carry one to church each week. These days I’ve landed in the Cambridge CSB diadem. The print is a little smaller than I’d like, but the over all size is just right. Fits good in my hand and not too heavy in my bag. I take it with me everywhere.
I keep thinking about getting a Cambridge Pitt Minion for this sort of thing. I'm "off" premium Bibles for the most part, but I know the format so well it might be easy enough to handle.
@@revchadbrooks I wish Cambridge would print more in the NRSV and NRSVUE. I hope that the upcoming popular text edition in the American English edition is also printed by LEGO. $30 is a steal for that, even in hardcover.
This year I have been reading through the KJV for the first time, and my daily carry and church Bible is the Cambridge Concord. Such an amazing Bible for reading and studying.
I’ve been doing a lot of travelling and have been thinking I want to take a bible to each one then write down the name of the church and date. Love this video popped up to give me some ideas. I have an old Scofield from 1997 that might just be perfect.
I've got a section in the Turkey Buzzard where I notate all of my travels throughout the year. It is always fun to see where the Bible (and I) have spent time across the span of a year.
You’re not odd carrying a physical Bible. It’s odd to not have one. Using a phone is a bad habit, IMO. The Schuyler PSQ in ESV is my go-to. Pitt Minion is a great size, but the font is too small. Before my PSQ it was a Crossway Thinline.
See, I was going to recommend getting out the ole Brick - You know, the red hardcover NOAB NRSV, and be like, BOOM, Y'ALL ready for this?! I love carrying my pleather Common English Bible when I attend a service as a guest. Though the binding is conking out.
@@revchadbrooks I was very fortunate to have gotten the CEB with leathersoft at a brick and mortar Cokesbury store in Atlanta. My Brick is my original from 1999!!

I take my interleaved ESV so I can take my notes directly into it. It's huge but I love being able to take notes directly into it.
That's what I call a commitment!!!

That diadem pressing is a really solid format.
@@revchadbrooks I’m a sucker for the center column cross reference, paragraph format and the thin-line feel. Just feels right.

There is a BUNCH of Cambridge love in the comment threads.

One of the few downsides of loving & collecting Bibles… lol. Which beloved Bible to take ???😮
It's a real problem.

Yeah, those pleather editions fall apart really bad. I almost brought an Oxford NASB, but decided it really wouldn't bring me any pleasure.

Which pen are you using?
It's a custom-turned pen a friend sent me. It has a Pilot G2 refill inside.
