Counting up means that your opponent doesn't know how many wounds he/she still has to deliver to kill the unit. Counting wounds down tells gives your opponent the information required without having to ask, again and again. We start a game with wound dice next to all multi wound model units. Information is an element of respect to your opponent. Also, non of this matters, have fun, it's all toys :]
I could put a wounds remaining widget on the board and keep a widget paired with it off the board with wounds taken 🙂
@@LizardofDoom Seems plenty to me to just have wounds remaining, very odd that AoS pushes the counting of wounds taken, it removes a piece of information useful to your opponent, and it's information that your opponent will now have to ask you for over and over. Wargaming is hard, especially crunchy GW games, we try and make it easier and clearer where possible.
Dice are for remaining wounds imo, tokens are for wounds taken.

Leave a model in a glass jar and fill I with isopropyl alcohol and leave it for a day. Come back with an old toothbrush and the paint will come straight off!

How I see it is in 40k and AOS its to show my opponent how many wounds are left. That way they don't have to constantly ask how many wounds are left, its there. AOS being wounds suffered is something i should know with my models. My opponent doesn't need to know how many wounds have been suffered I do, but they should know how many are left to help with their decisions.
Aye if I wanted to be helpful I could have one of my “wounds remaining” widgets on the table and track it separately on a “wounds suffered” widget on the side 🙂

The other player doesnt know your army like you do. Let them know, how many wounds they have left, before their target dies.

The wound counters are cool, but I don't think they can work the way you showed, using them as a base 10 method with a 6 sided die. When you showed a 1 and a 2 for 12, that's fine, but what if there's 17 wounds remaining? Or 9? I think it works if you just use it as a count six, up to 12 wounds. If you wanted to do the type of display you had in the video, you would need 10 sided dice.
Yeah I just thought this luckily I do have D10s that are the right size 🙂
Are there really monsters out there that put the bog roll the other way around? I thought that was just a story they told us as children to get us to eat our greens.
I live with someone who doesn’t have a preference so it’s a 50/50 gamble every time. Disgusting.

Could put d10s in the holes I’ve got some that fit or just put an extra dice on the logo. It’s not that deep. 😂
You're right about the bog roll, but wrong about D&D :)
I feel like the strongest argument for this way round in D&D is you always need to reference the modifier while playing but never really the stat.
@@LizardofDoom Aye - my argument is solely based on tradition : it used to be done this way round when I started playing in the 80s: it's absolutely the Old Grognard argument ;)

Logically you would use wounds remaining, like a mtg hit die.
Aye that would be logical but for a bunch of abilities in AoS you need to keep track of wounds taken instead.
