That pile of sprue looks like mine! I have FILLED 3 of the medium sized home depot moving boxes. After like 15 years I finally decided to make a bits box. It's a 32L Really Useful Box with 8 of 4L RUB's inside. Keeping them seperated by army. It took me the run time of Ghostbuster Afterlife to get through most of my Chaos bits.
It feels good to get it all sorted!

Ok I’m taking this as my reason to clean up my own sprue pile and organdies it all. Only 2 years of collecting warhammer but they were 2 years of reckless spending so wish me luck and I’ll see you all in the new year 🫡

Too late now but I actually cut the sprue around the part rather than the tabs. It doesnt take up much more room but it does protect the bits better. Plus it means i dont have to be carful when cutting them off. Still this is very impressive nice job.
One thing I did a long time ago, and recent had a friend follow in suit, was buying a fishing tackle box to store all of my Dungeons and Dragons minis. It was a super fantastic addition as it allowed for easy organization and transportation between sessions.

I've got a big process to go through for all my sprues. Not just taking all the bits off them, but my custom Space Marine chapter has a Shinto theme to it. So I'm taking bits off of the edges of the sprues to then glue together to make the torii (the large red gates that are at shrines) to put onto the backs of tanks.

Yeah. . . It's a problem when you let your sprues pile up. Trust me. So now I will always try to sort my spare bits into their appropriate Bitz-Boxes as soon as I'm done building a kit. And I'm going to commit to that after this video.
Mostly because I already did quite a bit of hobby workflow improvement at start of the year when I transferred all of my GW paints into dropper bottles and sorted everything onto the new paint racks I got for Christmas.
That’s the same thing I’m committing to now I’ve got the bits boxes sorted. I keep meaning to transfer my paints too.
A great video! A nice bit of inspiration and yes I think I’ll be taking your lead in improving my hobby space. I use an old ikea desk with those pullout draws. I think I’ll use one of those draws to put some angled wooden strips in rows inside of it to rest all my paints on, so when you open up the draw, all the paints will be on display and easy to see. I don’t have a big bits box as I’m still newly getting back into the hobby , so I just have a cheap $4 tackle box from the local hardware store to sort all my space marine bits into sections like ; Heads, toros, backpacks, etc.

I've only been in the hobby for a couple of years. My bits box is not huge yet, but it is slowly growing. I've only get one set of stuff I haven't built yet, but I have dozens of built stuff that is unpainted :P

personally id paint the logos on the draws just so they are abit more easy to see at a glance but other than that, good work

Sorting and organizing can be a hobby in itself. It gives a satisfying feeling plus helps with the creative process. How many new ideas did you come up with while doing this? I hope you didn't get carpal tunnel cutting all those bits.

You have some many armies worth of kits. I would definitely have to sort by heads, left and right arms, legs, torsos etc. That said I would probably do that anyway and just cross pollinate if it wasn’t all just Orks for me.

I have two huge plastic tubs (100 liters), one for aos and one for 40k (and H-heresy) and in those i got big ziplock bags with each faction in and the bags are marked so i can just find the one i need. And those dont take up wall or desk space. But i got way more bits😂😂
I taught you made boxes out of sprue. Like the miniature hobbyist. Use up those sprue plastic 😉

I haven't been in the hobby for that long (well, the collecting and painting side anyway), and I recently re-organised my stuff as well, so I don't really know what non-building/painting I could do at this point... So I guess I'll stick to doing that for now (unless I see something in other comments I could do lol)

I have used them for basing bits in the past but I tend to find sprues always look like sprues, the plan is to take that massive pile back to my local warhammer store for recycling. I’ll to be them and give them a heads up first. 😂

I misread the title, thought you were making a box out of sprues,
I mostly cut off the actual bits and throw away the empty sprues.
Warhammer stores recycle the sprues now so we don’t have to chuck them in the bin anymore 🙂
@@LizardofDoom I'd do that too, if the nearest GW store wasn't more than an hour away from my house.
The hobby improvement I did almost a year ago was going out to my shed of shame and re-sorting all my stuff.
Instead of a dozen different factions in twice as many boxes, I put all the 40K Marines in one box, Eldar in another box, Adeptus Titanicus/Space Marines/Epic & Warmaster in one box, Skaven in one box, etc.
Also, stuff is in either carboard banker's boxes or 12 gallon storage containers with the built-in split lid. Stuff stacks better when it is in only 2 different size boxes, instead of each one being a different size & shape.
I've been accumulating gaming stuff since the mid-70s so I'm really making a push to get organized, and send some of my surplus stuff on to a new home who might enjoy it.
That sounds like a big job but well worth doing!
