I think it’s all about having enough paint, wet enough and how much contrast you have with the background. Love your patience and never give up mentality. I always say, just keep going until you finally see what you like. But coming out with good, strong companions is excellent as a set is more salable, at least here in the USA because we have such big walls.
Hi, Two Doves. Thank you for watching and for the support and good advice as well, X. I agree, just try to preserver and enjoy the journey because you can learn so much even if the result isn’t quite up to expectations. If I leave the image for a couple of weeks, I often look with fresh eyes and see what is actually there rather than what I expected to be there. X
What an amazing video ... I struggle with layering as I keep thinking I 'should' be able to achieve desired outcome in one go. Watching this has helped me understand the richness layers bring to an art piece. Thank you so much for your generosity and honesty and for allowing me to peek into your creative world. Binge watching your videos is becoming a bit addictive lol 💝
I just watched your beautiful Christmas stars video and wanted to comment on them, comments are turned off, and I just wanted to mention that in case it was unintentional. Always a delight to see a new video of yours, Louise!
Hi Mary, glad you liked the video and thanks for letting me know about the messaging. I had listed it as made for kids, which restricted it. I have altered it now, so many thanks. XXX Very kind of you to bother to let me know, much appreciated xxx😀
Hello love. If you add a layer of paint over the dry paint and wait a few seconds, you pull up layers of paint together to add a new dynamic to the pull!! Quite fantastic!😊 You are so inspiring 🙏🏼 thank you!! Keep going.
Hi Amy thanks for the advice. Really lovely to get feedback like this. In the comments below Marijke suggests feeding the plate with baby oil. I can get busy following this fantastic advice and see how it goes xxx. Many thanks and all the best, Lou x
My pleasure, glad you like it. I hope you get the chance to give it a go. Many thanks for watching. I think I have reached 2000 subscribers so I'm delighted that people are enjoying it xxx
Hallo Louise, I see that the paint does not transfer good. You think it is too quickly drying. That may be the case, but do you know you have to maintain the gellplate by give it a good massage with mineral oil (baby oil, or cheep massage oil ) alfter a day of intensive use ? The plate will release the paint much better. Good luck with the experiments. The gellplate is a fantastic tool. When the plate is in good condition it should be "clean "after most pulls.
I am enjoying your trying which in the end ends up very interesting. I hope you won't mind, a personal comment. I had a second toe that was bent and hurt when in a shoe. Because I watch and am interested a variety of things that are helpful, and between your average medical treatments and those that are not I decided to use warmed coconut oil, I think emu would be better, in any case I massaged my toe, made a splint from a ice cream stick, straightened my toe as much as possible, wrapped with a bandage and went to bed. Did it for a couple of weeks and straightened my toe. I think this would work on your left hand ring finger. I believe that our body is playable, forgiving. What I had and you might have is called Dupics Contraction. I always considered the pain, discomfort. It was OK and you need to consider it. It doesn't require a surgery all the time.
Very kind of you to take the time to consider the problem with my hand. In fact, it was caused by a bad electrical burn, and the tendons have been fused into a fixed position. It actually doesn't cause me any bother; one quickly adapts; X. Very glad to hear that you managed to improve your bent toe X.
Did you try putting a very thin layer of paint over the initial layer of paint you have left on your plate?? This way you aren’t wasting the paint left on the plate. Robyn McClendon on UA-cam has some interesting ideas and she rarely cleans her plate. Love all your shapes and colors!!
Thanks for the tip I will give it a try. I have seen people use gel medium to lift the layers of paint, and as I didn't have any, I used liquid matte medium, and it worked. Thanks for letting me know about Robyn I will definitely take a good look X😃
@@LouiseJannetta Another person that has taken the gel plate to fabulous levels is "Yeates Makes". he has tons of new ways to use the gel plate. This one, I will try to copy the link here, he is using home made stencils! ua-cam.com/video/GsRCic-icgY/v-deo.html
Hi Lauren. Yes that video on particular was a little muddled. I am still learning as I go along, both the videoing and the gel plate. I hope things will run smoother as I progress. Xxxx
I used 240 gsm cartridge paper. It already had some marks on it from a previous project. If you are referring to these marks/designs, then I haven't uploaded a video on this method as yet, but it creates some beautiful results, and I will let the cat out of the bag shortly XXX😀
Hello where can I find part one? Is there a video with the papers before templates are put on, how you make those undergrounds? Wonderful videos, really top.
Hi Joanna. Yep I must rename part One to make it more evident. The First part is titled - Make Unusual, Unique Marks By Cutting Your Own Reusable Gel Printing Templates - Fab For Abstracts Video link ua-cam.com/video/e3oLdfGHGtg/v-deo.html
I will do a video to demonstrate the method used to create the marks on the paper before the Gelli printing is applied. I haven't done one yet, but it will happen soon.😀
I love how you describe the process of developing your own style of drawing and marks that become like handwriting. ❤
Hi again, yes it is one of those aspects that we often worry about - our own unique style. If you are sincere, then your own line will be inevitable.😀

First time I’ve seen use of both sides of the plate at the same time. I’m going to try it. 😆😍
