In my wildest imagination I never imagined the 1812 Overture as a piano piece. But I hadn't heard Valentina play until recently! So this piece was my epiphany, And kudos to Mr Yessipov for his great arrangement, A GREAT piece!
I thought I was safe from the cannons... looks like I was wrong.
Oi. Meu nome é Jão Ram ele entende pt Br
I was reading something in quite a focused manner I thought my stove exploded or something
ThePumpkin506 omg I haven’t listened to this piece in a long time and forgot about that part. I was studying and extremely focused, she freaking scared me😂😂😂
ThePumpkin506 Thank you for warning me. I was ready to turn the volume down, but unfortunately, it meant that I turned down the piano as well. Notwithstanding, the volume still caught me by surprise.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

It is rare that a pianist can take on the part of an *entire* orchestra!
Also, nice and creative use of the cannons. :D
iOnlySignIn Only great pianists play symphonies and other shit
Not really that rare. Some pianists arrange tons of orchestral works. But this is impressive nonetheless
How delicate to replace cannons with balloons. I love it!! 👍
They are the best natural, sounding and visual effects ever made. I love it too!!!!!
dear Valentina, almost 70, I'm so glad to be living in this time. were it not for youtube I never would have heard of you, nor would i have gone to your concerts in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. now, you play for me almost every day in my livingroom! your keyboard expressiveness sometimes brings me to tears; it is always an inspiration to those of us lesser pianists who have tried all our lives to play the masters. i have just listened to your performance of "1812 overture" -- hearing it makes me want to be russian! you are a beautiful and talented angel sent to us from God to behold His Music. (I still cannot believe you have only ten fingers!) Thank you for your devotion to your fans, but do not let us wear you out.
The first time that I've listened to Tchaikovsky`s 1812 Overture I was a little child, but since then I have wondered about how this music would sounds like played only by piano. Now this doubt has come to an end thanks to +ValentinaLisitsa. Thank you so much darling!!
Beautiful sounds as classical music will never die, i could listen to it all day as i love all the classic music
KEITH ROBINSN Do you love Satan?
@@oi.meunomeejaoram6214 Im sure you do
Oh, Val ... You're always as you are ,, One of the greatest pianists of the twentieth and twenty first centuries,, not because of your exquisite technic, but because of your unique interpretation, your rare sense of the work and the composer, and the audience as well, yes; you posses something ethereal that could transmit your sensations and feelings to your audience, something rarely acquired by an artist ,, I assume it relates to a magnificent mind,,, one thing more, I much liked your little cute assistant, whom I believe he might be your lovely son, he did a good job,, God bless you both.
Thank you so much for sharing your video. It is always nice to hear your playing. As a piano player (not really good as other players) I admire you more than other pianists personally :) Thanks.
Also little boy's performance was so adorable :)
+ValentinaLisitsa Oh that is so cute :) Both of yous are excellent performers!
+ValentinaLisitsa STANDING O VAL, ENCORE...ENCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+ValentinaLisitsa he's so cute! =)
Thank you for having me as your guest Valentina... it was such an honor. Thanking God for my eyes and ears right now!!
A suavidade, a angustia e a maestria de Tchaikovsky são transmitidos por Valentina primorosamente - aliás, como sempre. Parabéns Valentina.
Valentina - so glad you are entering the world of transcriptions of big pieces never played on the piano. Not that anything has EVER been something you could not conquer! Hope you continue this idea, as certainly few elite pianists dare play such repertoire. And video is the perfect format - as audio does not have parts of what makes this special. Brilliant job Valentina. Sure beats Romeo and Juliet attempts, as you took on a titan of a work.
I have no words to thank God enough for your existence Mrs. Лиси́ця
Your interpretation's got me in tears right now.
Thank yo so much for sharing it.
Oh! Thank you, Golden Goddess! ... whose vast Soul honors the World! ... and with the silvered moon-beams of the North guarding the Taiga, and its hovering Spirit above an unending tapestry of strange life, dark dukhs, and Winter Wrens! You are Valentina Lisitsa, the GREATEST PIANIST of our generation! You must never be humbled by whistle-blowers, or string-scratchers living just at the terminus of the Western Taiga!
In the Community and realm of the GREATEST MUSIC, YOU, above all others, should have our Community's greatest orchestras, conductors and instrumentalists whenever it is required by you, or by common sense! You, as the member of the First Estate, should never have to endure humbling by lower eschelons! By the way, I still have your note to me, given not a month after your tremendous victory at London's Prince Albert's Hall. At that time, to receive over a million notices from fans Worldwide, is hardly topped in today;s frantic, false idol-worshipping!
What a joy to hear songs from my childhood, and my beloved Mother, and the cold blasts of Winter, as snow flakes force themselves up through the slats and cracks of our old, truly Appalatian shack. Our humble family played Tchaikovski's "June", the "Kamminow-Ostrow, and the "1812" themes. But, where is the Rachmaninoff Prelude that crystallizes in our hearts the Spirit of the Taiga? Do not we, in the Circle of our Community, have people who could send $400 million dollars into our Circle? We don't need to ransom a few fighters, or whatever: we need to once and for all establish a permanent Shrine where the Universal Creator can receive the highest Art of Human Illumination, and in the best form: GREAT MUSIC! ...and of course, you, dear Maestra, are the only one qualified to administer! KMT
you are so lucky Valentina you are so loved by millions and millions of people around, you are so giving and an extraordinaire pianist. Never stop,it is your gift to the world.Thank God for your existence.
Great Lisitsa ! Congratulations again for this marvelous performance ! JAL, from Brazil, South América.
Epic. This woman is one of a kind and has no limits on the piano. Amazing
One of the greatest pianist living today. Her repertoire is incredible!
Every time I listen to you play, life becomes meaningful, joyful and promising. Thank you, Valentina.
I listen to this piece several times a year, I’m so glad every time I get to listen! Thank you ever so much.
Dear Valentina, I just had 16.35 minutes of pure pleasure listening to you play this very wonderful piece from Tchaikovsky. UA-cam should allow more than just 1 thumbs up, or 1 like. Its totally an understatement!!! PLEASE ACCEPT MY 100 THUMBS UP !!!! BRAVO VALENTINA !!! BRAVO BENJAMIN !! ;)
OMG, I have never heard this ever better than the Mercury record recording and it sounds as full as that recording. Valentina, if you ever do read these comments I normally never make comments here on line but you are what I call an angel of god for music. I believe music is what is our universal language.
Marvelous! Congratulations to Valentina Lisitsa and Yessipov. Amazing!

Those unbelievable fingers and the brain that controls them!!! Just so phenomenal!! (Also that peignoir-looking outfit you're wearing!!) GLORIOUS!!!! KUDOS KUDOS!! And your son makes a wonderful addition to your performance!
Hi Madam Valentina, I admire and love all your songs... You're one of a kind.. The best in the universe... God bless you more!!
Proof that art should transcend national boundaries -- this piece has been adopted by the USA, and is commonly played on its Independence Day. Nice rendition.
+curiouser george We just like an excuse to have explosions in our classical music. ;)
+Peter Draws damn right we do! 'merica!!
Peter Draws how come I find you here hahahaha
Listening 1812 again...
Again..
Again...!
Amazing performance!
Unbelieveble Miss Valentina Lisitsa, DIVA!
Я слушала это произведение только в оркестровом исполнении , а тут рояль! Выстрелы в конце...ой,как мощно!
Валентина, молодец!
Оркестр заменила!
She is always wonderful, such a pleasure to listen to. Thank you.
BRILLIANT BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!!!
I did NOT expect balloons!!!!!
Who knew Tchaikovsky could be hilarious?!!
Your son has your fingers - lucky boy!
Thank you so much Valentina.
Sensational!
BRAVO, Valentina!
Greetings from Brasil!
Divina Valentina!!!
Thank you Valentina! You are great!
mere words cannot explain the beauty of your performances.
Bravo, Valentina! Thank you and your son for this masterpiece of artistic expression and of your incredible technical skill!
one of my favorite pieces which I've been waiting to hear in piano and now you just appeared from nowhere playing it. Congratulations. Awesome. Love you. Greetings form Mexico.
Dear Valentina, it was remarkable an idea to provide this performance together with your son and lift up the patriotic inspiration to the young generations.
Being in Virginia, we celebrated that day with pride, when you put this video on your channel. Bravo!!!!!
Wow!!!!!! Thank you for sharing with us mere mortals.
Valentina, you inspire me to keep practicing the piano daily; If I ever met you in person, I wouldn't be able to speak, you resemble an Angel to me
Year ago I use to travel to Votkinsk, Russia on business. I frequently visited the Tchaikovsky museum there. The original (supposedly) piano that Tchaikovsky learned to play on was on exhibit. His father had been a manager of a plant there so that is where he spent his early years. Regardless of the authenticity it was a surreal experience. Overture 1812 has always been my favorite. Valentina, you did a most brilliant performance. Thank you!
1812 is one of my favourite pieces and now seeing her converted it to piano just unbelievble
One piano still can show the rich texture of the symphony orchestra. Only Valentina Lisitsa can pull this off.
So beautiful Valentina!! I love your music:)
Always so subtle and nuanced playing. When I see Valentina, I click on.
Tchaikovsky Overture 1812 + Valentina Lisita=Perfection
ahhhh. .... balloons !
of course ! Nice on the hands and more fun for the son.
Great epic collaboration.
And I must confess,Valentina...
....for me ....
The bells and the balloons were the best part. Great fun.
Simply awesome, there's no words to describe this masterpiece!
Who are the children? They have so much fun in it. Poking a balloon is like the banging of cannon, a great idea. I enjoy so much of it, thank you.
It's her son, Benjamin. I think he was around 8 or 9 years old at the time of this, he is now 14.
Really great, bravo for you and for the smiling Benjamin.
What a splendid transcription of one of my favorites pieces (as conducted by Stokowski) and of course a stellar performance by Lisitsa.
Loved the cannons!
This woman is amazing.
you are my favorite pianist Valentina
I understood so much about music listening and watching your videos
I highly admire your hard work and your beatiful spirit
great performance !
Thank you for recording this.I still have fond memories as a young child being picked to pull the string on the cannons at my first ever classical concert. That concert was Tchaikovsky. One of my favorite pieces by one of my favorite pianists. This day cant get any better. You are awesome!!!!
+Stoned Soup Also loved the touch with the balloons :)
Валентина, ваше исполнение превосходно. Музыку которую Вы исполняете меняет менталитет. Огромное СПАСИБО!
Thanks a lot Valentina Lisitsa ....
always, perfect playing and make me joyful
you are my favorite pianist Valentina. I understood so much about music listening and watching your videos. I highly admire your hard work and your beatiful spirit . great performance !
I'm not a pianist, but from my perspective what sets this pianist apart from all others is her poetic control of timbre - it's as if she's incapable of hitting a key too hard or too lightly.
Pianistic fireworks at it's best!! W.O.N.D.E.R.F.U.L...bravo Ben!!
Thanks a lot Val. So good to get this from you. And your happy smile is a treat to boot.
Bravo and Thank you Valentina. You are surely one of the best pianists of the whole word. It is really diffcult to play a symphony with the piano. Transcriptions exist but the transcriptors are not pianists ( except Franz Liszt) . Now some composers try to write Malher'symphonies. But it is impossible . One of them is called "Les Mille - The Thousands) . 1000 musicians replaced by a piano . What a challenge !
I love these piano arrangements. Her video of Totentanz is still my top favourite, bit this one is climbing.
its such an honor to listen to your plays. thank you
It's just incredible to see that every piece Valentina decides to play, she memorizes everything perfectly, no matter how difficult it is... This is already a very hard and complex piece and is still nothing talking about her!
I loved the powerful cannons and bells here. What a creativity!!! :-))))
it was a great idea!!! thank you Valentina for everything we have listened from you!
Thank you for this brilliant transcription! I love you for your emotional playing! God bless you!
TCHAIKOVSKY IS MY FAVORITE "ALL AROUND" COMPOSER, AND I THANK YOU FOR THIS GREAT TRANSCRIPTION, THAT I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT !!!
BUT I MUST ASK YOU THIS QUESTION THAT I WANTED TO ASK FOR A LONG TIME, I KNOW I ONLY HAVE A 50-50 CHANCE OF GETTING AN ANSWER, BUT I MUST ASK ANYWAY.......
CHOPIN GOT ME INTO CLASSICAL, SOME YEARS AGO, THOUGH THE MASTERPIECE ALBUM OF ALL CHOPIN BY IVAN DAVIS, (THE GREATEST AMERICAN PIANIST THAT I KNOW OF) BUT SINCE THEN, OVER MANY YEARS OF STUDY, I THINK, QUITE POSSIBLY, I HAVE COME TO LOVE ALKAN EVEN MORE, FOR THE SECOND PLACE POSITION OF THE GREATEST PIANO COMPOSERS OF ALL TIME, (BUT OF COURSE, NO ONE EVEN COMING CLOSE TO LISZT'S VERY SECURE POSITION IN THE #1 SPOT OF ALL TIME FOR PIANO).
SO THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS QUESTION, NOT JOKING AROUND THIS TIME, AS USUAL, THAT I HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER, WHY IS IT THAT SO MANY OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST PIANISTS WILL NOT TOUCH ALKAN, WHO I NOW CONSIDER THE SECOND GREATEST IN THE HISTORY OF PIANO, WHY IS HE SO OVERLOOKED, BY YOURSELF, KISSIN, AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON, I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS.........IS THE MATERIAL NOT APPRECIATED, OR NOT LIKED ENOUGH TO PUT IN ALL THE EFFORT, OR JUST TOO DIFFICULT, OR WHAT IS IT ....... I SIMPLY MUST KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS........
I KNOW YOU LIKE TO WRITE SMALL ESSAYS, IF YOU WON'T LEARN ANY OF HIS MUSIC, SOME OF US DIE HARD FANS OF YOU AND ALKAN BOTH, WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHY HE IS UNWORTHY, OR WHAT EVER THE SITUATION IS, WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO READ AT LEAST A FEW WORDS ON YOUR POSITION ON ALKAN, MAYBE YOU DON'T LIKE HIS MUSIC, BUT HIS CONTRIBUTION TO MUSIC, AND ESPECIALLY PIANO, EARNS HIM SOME SORT OF EXPLANATION AS TO WHY HE IS NOT PLAYED, EVEN SO MUCH AS ONE NOTE, BY MY FAVORITE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD.....
PLEASE CONSIDER ANSWERING MY QUESTION, AS I AM A LONG TIME FAN AND SUPPORTER, AND I SIMPLY MUST KNOW THE ANSWER OF WHAT YOU FEEL ABOUT ALKAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!
also got walk through an orchestra when they were playing this song as a child. brings back memories
Молодчина!!! Берегите себя!
Miss Valentina Lisitsa!
DIVA!
The most better performance in this Classic.
Magnificent!
Thanks a lot my Friend for your Sensibility!
You touch my Life!
I am flying in your fingers.
Splenderous moment!!!!!!
Wow, Valentina and Son! What fun that was.
Valentina- great job on the piano arrangement of this piece: your part and the cannons!
+ValentinaLisitsa it's really a great performance that shows many details of the original score by Tchaikovsky.
Amazing! Can't stop smiling when seeing her fingers.
Well, once again, and as fresh, as if you played this today! Been over a year almost since anything. Great pianist indeed. You, are blessed my dear.
Fantastic performance very enjoyable thank you for sharing lots of kind wishes to you Rudolf.
Splendida la virtuosa Valentina ! Grazie infinite.
Always nice to listen to Valentina after a long day.
I see the difference now between your piano and stoneway. Their logo is intrusive. And again that half note, at the beginning... Beautiful. You got me there.
But holy crap that was one of the coolest pieces of music I’ve ever heard
Hourra!!
Splendid perfomance, also always!
Bravo! Bravo! Bravissimo!! To your and your sons performance, and this excellent arrangement.
It's always a delight to (re)see this video !
I hope your kid is following your steps, +Valentina Lisitsa !
There is so much potential for transcribing orchestral works to the keyboard. The Nutcracker played on the organ is another excellent example.
Definitely the best part and the best performer here: your son!!! Hahaha The addition of the bells works amazingly, and every day he looks more like you! And to actually pull this off, such an intricate orchestra piece like this... You keep rocking the piano, Valentina. And it is awesome to see you back here, on UA-cam, showing your passion and dedication for this instrument and keep enchanting with your performance. Congratulations.. this is incredible!
Звукорежисёру за концовку троечку! Валентина великолепна!
HOLY CRAP THE BALLOONS SCARED ME, but anyways, amazing, skillful, and beautiful as always Valentina, nicely done !!
Oh little mouse!🤣
It's amazing the way your fingers fly over the keyboard. This is a great performance. Love it!
Thank you for this recording. I've never heard this other than by a full orchestra, and I'm glad to have been introduced to it by your incomparable touch. I'm glad that Benjamin appreciates the music as much as his mom and dad. May you all have only good fortune and happiness in all you do. You've earned it by your generosity and kindness. I look forward to Oriental!
Once again a thoroughly inspired performance by a living legend.
Valentina, you are insanely, crazy talented.
WOW!! That was stunning, Valentina!! A real tour de force. The first balloon did startle me, though, but they were a nice substitute for the cannons.
Brilliant performance and creative, unexpected bells and cannons!
I am very very moved. Thank you so much for sharing!
I absolutely enjoyed this, a very challenging transcription such as the liszt Beethhoven. The balloons and bell are superbly done, bravo! You just keep surprising everyone in your own way. You are a musical gift beyond comprehension.
Thanks a lot Valentina! You are great!
Wow. Never heard this on piano before. Incredible.
