@@WildNorWester I haven’t seen the SiF’s interpretation of the story, but I know yours was excellent. The part at the end especially made me anxious for what’s to come!
@@WildNorWester Would be interesting for Duncan to see an adaption of that very incident in the TV Series by the next year anyway. After all..., it's always an amazement to see stories based on events that occurred on Sodor anyway.
Been on an STMY binge recently and reached this mini-series. Whoever did the arrangement of the Duncan Gets Spooked theme deserves a medal: They took an already chilling theme and made it absolutely terrifying.
16:02 I expected the ghost to be slowly going in the same direction behind Duncan. I didn't expect that, and it actually spooked the shit out of me, like, I could barely talk for a good minute... It was really subtle, and not meant to make you jump, but it was enough to send shivers down my spine....
This was a great adaptation of a tv series episode to RWS. The last scene is nice as well with a bit of a time jump by 15 years as well as the ghost saying hello when Duncan is out of earshot
I just realised something: this episode is essentially Duck and Dukes done right. It's a prologue episode leading to more mysteries being unravelled later on, and the issues the characters have - Duncan's stress over Adeline's death, Rusty and Peter Sam's prank, Ivo Hugh's simple curiosity and Rheneas and Sir Handel knowing more than they're letting on - are all built upon in the next episodes being produced instead of waiting four more books.
I LOVE how during the scene where the narrator describes Peter Sam and Rusty, Percy is seen in the background with the EXACT SAME trucks he had when he was talking to them! It's such a small detail but one that I personally appreciate SO MUCH!
@@puma2334 You have no idea how filming works, do you? Essentially, given how this was filmed and edited in a matter of several months, he would have to re add rolling stock to scenes and sets in order to refilm them for a slightly different scenes each time he turned the game off and turned it back on. @@samgineer9857 Why would he have to refilm and re add rolling stock if he was filming one scene right after the other. Wait which timestamp is this scene?

Fantastic job putting this together, im proud to also be Peter Sam's new voice actor too. Looks like we've also got a mystery on our hands too, just have to wait and see.
Perhaps my favourite theme of the Thomas theme is probably this sounding at 7:04 which I tend to find entertaining. Also I like how you adapted the Duncan gets Spooked into what Awdry could have created for sure after Ivo Hugh’s introduction into service.
Excellent adaptation of the original TV episode, I was kind of surprised by that voice at the end after Duncan crossed the Old Iron Bridge some years later. And also, nice use of Ivo Hugh taking Peter Sam's role as if it were written as a Railway Series story.
Oh god this bring back so many Childhood memories watching my Mom's old VHS Tapes while I slowly fell asleep and waking up at like 2 am seeing these weird small engines I've never seen before, Sorry I just needed to express how much Nostalgia this brings me Thank you, Some British 15 year old
@@Edwardtheblue2 yes, I was complementing on the audio. SiF is still superior with the atmosphere, voice acting, music, etc. No one can top them since they’re the gods of the Thomas fandom
Me and my friends have been theorizing about this in our discord server, and we believe we already have some idea of what's going on. At first, we thought the ghost Duncan saw was just a hallucination, and the fact that we, the audience, could see it too was simply for storytellling purposes, a visual representation of what Duncan was seeing. However, bear with me a moment. Duncan reacts to Rusty's story as though he's never heard it before, which means, unless WnW directly states that A: Rusty told Duncan what the engine looked like, which he didn't, we heard him telling the story, or B: Duncan knew a Quarry Hunslet who died at some point, *the ghost is real.* He wouldn't know what it looks like, so his mind wouldn't have been able to conjure up a hallucinatory image of a Quarry Hunslet, which is what the engine appears to be. This is based on the appearance of the engine in it's "alive" form at the beginning of Rusty's tale, and earlier concept models for Adeline's basis being a Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST. Also, note how Rusty specifically states the apparition of an engine appearing before Duncan *wasn't* his doing, so it wasn't part of the prank. Now, considering WnW's storytelling is heavily RWS inspired, such realism doesn't leave much room for the supernatural. So, we're liable to never see this properly addressed or answered. Another conclusion we've drawn is, if the ghost ISN'T Adeline, then it means TWO engines have fallen off The Old Iron Bridge at some point. Rusty told the tale of one of them, and at the end, Sir Handel and Peter Sam mistook his story for Adeline's. It also makes sense considering we hear someone call out around the bridge at the end, and Duncan felt as though the ghost was trying to tell him something. Perhaps the ghost was trying to alert Duncan to Adeline's location being nearby? Further proof that there were two fall victims can be found simply by looking at Adeline. She is seemingly a custom design, with *6* wheels, not 4. Her coal bunker is behind her cab, not in front of it and split in halves, like a Quarry Hunslet. Whether the second fall victim, the actual ghost, is ever addressed is anybody's guess, and it could just be Rusty was telling the story wrong and that it actually was Adeline, but, regardless, the storytelling and visuals in this have been bloody outstanding, and I can't wait to see what comes next. Roll on the Adeline mini-series, and if you've read the entirety of this, well, basically an essay, I'm sorry for the length but thank you for reading, and I hope you've enjoyed my speculation on me and my friends' behalf!
That's a well thought out story, but there's something missing. Rusty and Duncan don't know where Rusty's story happened. It was just something they heard on the radio.
Perhaps that engine was Godred who's literally a free spirit. The same engine from Bad Look Out who fell from the Culdee Fell Railway down a mountain. What if he's a shape shifter?
I think the most reasonable conclusion is: Duncan hallucinated or imagined the ghost. The voice at the end is Adeline, who did fall off the bridge, but survived a-la-Lily and had been spit out of the mud by the ever-changing waterflow in 2012. Though the location of the bridge in this episode seems a bit screwy. It's supposed to be on the quarry branch, which was an out of use dead end spur even by 1997, unless the Ministry of Defense is still using the quarry as an ammo dump. Here, it's depiced as being part of the lake loop line? Or not, because of that switch at 0:44...? If I was to guess about Adeline's origin, given that she was never seen before or mentioned in either the IoS of RBTL, is that she was the original MoD engine, brought in to handle the ammunition dump in the old mine. After the crash, she was replaced by the "beetle-like electric locomotive".
@@engineerskalinera That switch at 0:44 is the two ends of the loop line converging. Geographically speaking, I use the route as presented - and the one I use has the old iron bridge as part of the loop line. There's a junction just down from Skarloey station where the quarry branch starts.

Looking forward to more of what you have in store! Take all the time you need, we are just waiting to be spoiled XD
I had to hold my phone up to my ear to hear the “hello” just before the end
Nice work
Same
That ghost engine’s whistle gives me the chills!
octo boy and wild nor wester in the space of 1 hour!!!
The story has snow and it just passed winter. Also this is the first STMY episode in a while.
My videos operate on their own timeline.
@@WildNorWester it was a coincidence.
@@WildNorWester excuse me but does Duncan gets spooked take place before or after Atlas arrived on the skarloey railway ?
@@quarrylocomotiveproduction5439 All of it takes place in 1997, between the last episode of 'Sodor the Early Years' and the first episode of 'Sodor the Modern Years'. It's just a few months after Ivo Hugh was built. This is why Duncan's red for most of it, and yellow in the '15 years later' bit of the credits scene.
Just like the classic series. If you are rude and disrespectful, you get more than a slap on the wrist; you get shaken to your core, and then you change because of what happened.
Amazing! One of my favorite Skarloey & Mid-Sodor Narrow Gauge Railway (S&MSNGR) stories...
Well, you never failed to entertain us, interesting take on the story and the way you made it with the time skip and everything.
I can’t wait for part two!!
That end actually got me a little because I didn't expect it at all. Nice one.
Amazing bud
The bit at the end in the credits errrm scary that leads into the upcoming mini series
That was awesome! I love the updated look of your models, and I can't wait to see whatever's next!
nice work wildnorwester
Great episode. Welcome back with the Series and I enjoy it.
I like this twist on the original fits well with the series and gives Ivo Hugh a much needed character moment.
That music as Duncan left the top station was nicely spooky. I loved the aerial to ground pan it gave a nice sense of the area.
Ooh that chill, even though I knew that hello was coming. I'm guessing Adeline was the engine the fell over, and is still alive at the bottom of the ravine.
I love It! Cant whait for rest of the adeline episodes.
P.S Tank you again for the release of the models on christmas, It meant a lot for some folk like me!
Great adaption, love how Ivo Hugh is the main character
Also welcome back to UA-cam
wonderful video and i do love the part at the end
Really enjoyed your take on the "Duncan Gets Spooked". I will admit, it's a bit too slow for me. It just feels like some of the scenes has really dragged on. However, I really enjoyed the dialogue and I really enjoyed the voice acting from you and all of the others that were involved here. I also really enjoyed the lighting and the scenery here. Seriously, it looks so amazing and your models really fit very well here. I also liked the mid-credit scene here too.
Overall, it's quite nice. Bit slow but everything else is great. Great job to you and to everyone else involved!
This is just amazing! Glad for more StMY, as well as seeing some TVS episodes get RWS-ized! Hopefully we'll see some more of that? :)
And can I point out the scene at 13:32? Goodness, that's beautiful seeing the entire yard and the way the camera pans down!
I'm really curious what that siding with the yellow tanker is for at 7:59? It goes nowhere and is seemingly just a random piece of straight track. Like maybe it's to transfer stuff from the standard gauge track, but no narrow gauge engine can access it.
I think it's transfer track, too.
Looks like a fuel tanker, possibly for the railway's diesels?
@@WildNorWester IS SIR HANDEL AND RHENEAS ARE HIDIND SOTHING?
There is so much lore in this series and sodor the modern years
I watched your series as a teen and I’m happy for your return! Good luck on the Adeline mini series!
Young Ivo is precious.
I've never been so quick to play a video before
Great job with the moving eyes
And once again, the king has returned to his throne
13:31 That downward panning shot was nifty.
Thanks :)
That ghostly hello at the end really was a shock. Really cant wait to see what happens next and hard to think that its just a few months short of a year since this video was released. Wonder if what Rusty was talking about was true and a real accident happened.
16:04 (GASP!!) [Speaking with a French accent] Zee plot, she thickens!!
this was uploaded on my birthday
Exelent video my friend, keep up the fantastic work!
I love how this reminds me of the original series but better
16:03 Eather "Hello" or "How rude"
It's 'Hello'.
Welcome back wildnorwester
Good adaptation and the models look great, too.
Dang, this is almost a year old now.
Oml ivo can be such an innocent character. He could’ve been a candidate for the role skarloey was given in the last few seasons of the television series
You know. No one ever made an episode about the engine that fell off that bridge ever coming to see the little engines in its spirit
The return of the king
This was a brilliant adaptation!
Knew I forgot to turn the notifications on . Great episode 🙂
Hooray it’s here 😄😄😄
Well worth the wait. Can’t wait for the next parts.
I just realised that this is set literally right after STEY
