Sato is so cool
What an overwhelmingly mature voice. The bass sings as if we are hearing the Master.himself.
Listeners may not realize that on 11 May 2017, Shunske Sato was appointed to the 6th artistic director of the Netherlands Bach Society (Nederlandse Bachvereniging) beginning on 1 June 2018, succeeding Jos van Veldhoven. A true genius!
It's sad that he recently resigned as artistic director.
@@maozedong115 Do you know by any mean why ?
@@ivoriankoua3916- He said he wanted to explore other musical masters…. Although the rest of his life would be enough to do so !
Wunderschön, Daniel Johannsen! Ich liebe seine Ausdrucksweise!
Daniel Johannsen magnifique, toujours très expressif, convaincu de ce qu'il chante: c'est rare, trop rare...
11:05! The entire ensemble is so enjoying this final aria. Daniel is great fun! Shunske's little smile at the end of the aria says it all!
Daniel loves Bach. Bravo.
I watched this on the fifth Sunday after Easter, the occasion it was meant for. I love seeing how much fun everyone was having while playing it, as well as rejoicing over what the music actually meant. How inspiring, especially for a young musician.
So beautiful🍃
bach heel erg mooi
bach en niets anders bach mooi
Great!
Wonderful performance⚘
5:18 playing with quarter tones? Brilliant.

Text for Cantata 86
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch
Original German Text
English Translation
1. ARIOSO (Baß)
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch,
so ihr den Vater etwas bitten
werdet in meinem Namen,
so wird ers euch geben.
Truly, truly, I say to you
when you ask anything of the Father
doing so in my name,
so will he grant it to you.
2. ARIA (Alt)
Ich will doch wohl Rosen brechen,
wenn mich gleich itzt Dornen stechen.
Denn ich bin der Zuversicht,
daß mein Bitten und mein Flehen
Gott gewiß zu Herzen gehen,
weil es mir sein Wort verspricht.
I will still indeed pick roses,
even if the thorns all the same do prick me.
For I am assured
that my request and my supplication
are surely taken to heart by God,
for his word promises me this.
3. CHORAL (Sopran)
Und was der ewig gütig Gott
in seinem Wort versprochen hat,
geschworn bei seinem Namen,
das hält und gibt er gwiß fürwahr.
Der helf uns zu der Engel Schar
durch Jesum Christum. Amen!
And whatever this eternally benevolent God
has promised in his word,
sworn to by his name,
this holds, and he says verily it is certain.
He aids us toward the throng of angels
through Jesus Christ, Amen!
4. REZITATIV (Tenor)
Gott macht es nicht gleichwie die Welt,
die viel verspricht und wenig hält;
denn was er zusagt, muß geschehen,
daß man daran kann seine Lust und Freude sehen.
God does not act like the world
which promises much and delivers little;
for what he pledges, has to occur
that one might behold his pleasure and joy.
5. ARIA (Tenor)
Gott hilft gewiß;
wird gleich die Hülfe aufgeschoben,
wird sie doch drum nicht aufgehoben.
Denn Gottes Wort bezeiget dies:
Gott hilft gewiß!
God helps with certainty;
if this help suddenly seems delayed
regardless it is thus not retracted.
For God’s word confirms this:
God helps with certainty!
6. CHORAL
Die Hoffnung wart' der rechten Zeit,
was Gottes Wort zusaget,
wenn das geschehen soll zur Freud,
setzt Gott kein gwiße Tage.
Er weiß wohl, wenns am besten ist,
und braucht an uns kein arge List;
des solln wir ihm vertrauen
Hope waits upon the proper time
which God’s word dictates,
when that which occurs shall turn to joy,
God sets no certain day.
He knows well when it is best
and brings no dire deception upon us;
we shall trust him on this.
COMPOSED: May 14, 1724 (Leipzig) for Rogate (5th Sunday after Easter)
12:35 Zeker weten!
Someone does opera too.
I find the german pronounciation of altus Robin Blaze horrible. I just cannot understand what he is singing.
I know he has been involved a lot in the Bach Cantata cycle of Masaaki Suzuki, but somehow the defects were less apparent, probably because he got coached much better.
In general this All-of-Bach series is marred for me by many UK solists (e.g. Thomas Hobbs; Tim Mead to a lesser extend) who's German is below-par.
I find this especially irratating because dutch producers should have a much better grasp of how German should be pronounced properly . Daniel Elgersma or Damien Guillou or David Erler, not to speak of Andreas Scholl, would be much preferable as altus.
A bit tough on Blaze. He’s not a Bach purist because his German is not 100%but but he is a Handel Master and thus deserved of some slight slack here
