Awesome video. Just followed this step by step. Although one thing I did differently, I didn’t put the oil pan bolt on until after I took the oil filter back on, I noticed a bunch of old oil that was still stuck in there because of it. Overall great video
I have an 2001 Honda civic this helped a lot. My cars at 324k and climbing so I was told to use 5w-30 instead as it gets higher in kms. Is this okay for my car?
Is it okay or safe to put that type of oil/oil filter I’m sure that’s not the recommended in the manual for my 02 ex civic it recommends the genuine Honda oil and what not .
Yes what matters is the oil's viscosity that u use the proper one like say 5w-20..they also have synthetic semi and conventional oil and if its been using synthetic youll wanna stick to synthetic oil..most popular oils will meet or exceed the same ratings/specifications as the honda oil and other manufacturers oil..so its perfectly safe.
Great tutorial!! I almost feel confident to do it myself. I’m a woman determined to maintain my car. Couple tips would be helpful i e synthetic oil or high mileage plus regular oil level checks. Thanks Dude!
Thank you..a mass air flow on a honda civic? Those models dont use a mass air flow sensor do u mean the map sensor?..was there a certain issue u were having with the car?
Great video. I have a 2005 Civic EX and am planning to change the oil. Would you recommend high mileage oil or full synthetic? My car have 169,400 miles and I just bought the car. I see in your video you use the high mileage, so am assuming that's the one that I should use, but I just want to make sure. Also, I have to bring my car to inspection, so I need to reduce the emissions, so thats also why am interested to know the oil type. Thanks in advance.
If u notice any seepage from the gaskets or that the vehicle is possibly burning oil, i would use high mileage..if u dont notice any of that i would go with full synthetic...in this vehicles case it would lose oil so i went with the high mileage.
@@backyardchevy328 interesting. High mileage oil because of burning? My civic eu 7 1.6 machine burns 1L per 1000 km. I use because of many city driving a 5w40. So for this type of engine it would be better to use a thicker oil despite my almost only citiy drivings?
@@tiergeist2639 yea high mileage oil has a additive that helps recondition gaskets and seals that allow oil to pass through causing leaks..although it wont fix it..it does help make the leak a lil less than what it was..well 5w40 would be better in warmer climates and yea more friction conditions like highway driving..so yes it could be beneficial
Do u know if they used break in oil? Normally what id do is use break in oil..change that oil..then use conventional oil with the viscosity recommended which is 5w-20 but cjange that oil at 1500 miles from the rebuild...and then next one at 3k miles..after that u can do regular oil change intervals with synthetic oil if u prefer
@@backyardchevy328 Thank you so much for your answer. My mechanic said,He fill the engine with 5wo30,but Im thinking tomorrow change the oil for the original ,yes 5wo20.
Well u could try tapping on the end of the ratchet with a hammer..but u dont wanna let the socket slide off as u do because it could strip the corner..or if u have a small pipe or something that will fit over ratchet, itll give u more leverage to loosen it
It depends where u live..if u live where it gets cold youll wanna avoid a thick oil..if u live where its hot or very warm most of the time then itll be ok
Theres a lot of good placements..but yea that place is good sinces its a subframe and towhook which is where they pull from..or if u lift it from somewhere else u can put the jackstands on the pinch weld area i lift it from
U mean the check engine light? If so, it depends it could be something simple as a gas cap to possibly a sensor going bad , misfire or many other things, ud have to have it scanned to find out unfortunately.
This video helped me do my first Oil Change on my 03 Civic. Thank you! :)
Thats awesome..great job🙂👍
Easy to understand thank you so much even my wife got it
Thank you🙂
Thanks man, just bought a 2001 civic and had a general idea of where to drain it, but this made me 100% sure, thanks man!
Anytime🙂 glad to be able to help
Awesome video, thanks! I’ll be saving this video for later since I just got my first car (2003 civic)

Thank you, yea true it could get a lil extra oil from there as well.
Perfect content, we'll explained, thoroughly said. You deserve wayyyy more subs
You should change the drain plug seal/washer each time you change oil, it's good practice. Besides that very informative video.
Meh.
That is unnecessary.
You have fun with that lol
If there is any wear on the washer this is true. If there's nothing wrong w it, clean and reuse.
Thanks man, wasn't sure if I had gotten the right material.
Glad to be able to help🙂

Yes, u can go with the thicker 5w-30 or u can use the high mileage 5w-20
@@backyardchevy328 ok thanks!
I wish I had the jack to do it myself. Great video thank you. Have a lovely day everyone ☄️⭐🎶
First clear video, why do you wipe off the dip stick first?
because the oil could have sloshed around while driving or moving and it would give you an inaccurate reading.
Thanks bro!!! What a pain in the a.. it would have been without your help!!!
Glad to be able to help🙂
Awesome video man. Thanks for the upload
Thank you🙂
Love this video man, understood everything clearly keep it up👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you🙂

I'm at 245K miles. I use StP longtime filter, and full synthetic high mileage. Mobil 1, Valvoline and Penzoil are my top picks.
Thank you! Also I love your voice 🥰

Thank you, im sure u can🙂
I read on a forum that higher mileage vehicles run better with thicker oil ie maxlife 5w-30
Women can't change oil.
I really like the way you present. Do you know how to fix a mass airflow sensor for a Honda civic lx 2003? I really need help. 🙏🏽

Excellent video!!
First oil change for that car?
No, it just had a bad experience with owner overfilling it with oil
Great video, really useful! Thanks
Thank you🙂
I have an 05 civic. The bolt on the oil pan is on so tight. But it’s too low to the ground to use a breaker bar

Lol I know how do do oil changes but I just wanted to see exactly where the oil filter was but this is a great video
What kind of oil was used?
Look on your oil cap. Or check. 3:40 on the video.
Really helpful video!

Damn, bro! Why you keep your ride so clean, tho?
Not intentionally lol..if its clean thats how its been
only takes 4 quarts??
Yes, depending on how well it drained it can be from 3.5 to 4
Well made video 👌

Ya I'm gonna risk my car falling and crushing me for a service that costs 30$.
Its definitely not for everybody
Lmao
The oil filter location was engineered by a sadist.
Yea its a pretty horrid area for it..then the engineers decided to put the starter in that place for the next generation hondas
I changed your mom's oil.
If someone cannot afford to pay for an oil change.a.car is not for you.
Some people just like to work on their cars dipshit
thats not why people change their own oil. get a grip
I can't understand a word you're saying.
Thank you!
