    How much does it cost to change a transmission since my 2003 Civic is failing with that, but what they charge from $1,500 to $2,000 dollars and only with a 6-month warranty is too much for me. Apart from that, it needs motor mounts, what brand of mounts do you recommend, something generic and of good quality, since the original ones cost what half of the car costs I would appreciate if you give me your suggestions.

    • @HustlePaul
      @HustlePaul  2 роки тому

      Transmission replacements can vary from 500 and up just for labor. But if it has warranty then that’s good too and also I honest hate aftermarket mounts but they’re are some decent ones . I would say look on Amazon since they have reviews that you can research on and pick the best one.

    have a question with my automatic Honda Civic 2001 LX. When I turn on the car, it sounds like a whistle for 2 seconds and then the whistle goes out, BUT once I start driving it the whistle starts again. If I dont step on any gas or brake pedal the whistle comes back, I have engine light on and please if someone could help me, I have a little of experience because I already changed the radiator, pump, car roof by myself because can't afford a mechanic...got P0700✅ and p0730 error

    • @HustlePaul
      @HustlePaul  5 років тому

      Heres what i found about your codes .So i would check trans fluid level and possibly replace fluids with new oem honda transmission fluid. See if the problem goes away .P0700 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Transmission Control System Malfunction". This can happen for multiple reasons and a mechanic needs to diagnose the specific cause for this code to be triggered in your situation. Error Code P0730 is described as Incorrect Gear Ratio. This means the automatic transmission is experiencing a problem, which is usually caused by dirty transmission fluid or problems with shift solenoids.

  • @roberto2825
    @roberto2825 5 років тому +1

    Mostly all of these JDM transmissions will give you a code. Swapping sensors will not work, it needs to have the original USA torque converter. The USA version has 1 more tooth which will activate over drive gear, JDM doesn't have have this and the ECM will not see this and give out the code.

    • @steveyun2051
      @steveyun2051 5 років тому

      ROBERTO... I have a North American Civic and am thinking about a JDM swap... Are you saying from experience that you should put the original torque converter into the JDM? Also, will the splines line up or do you need a different input shaft as well.

      The computer needs to be set up to fully accept the JDM configuration. It will work fine, but it might say you in a different gear or that your transmission has codes. Most dealers and professionals can recalibrate the tcm to work with the main computer on the car.

I have to do it myself, but gonna have to find someone with a concrete driveway to borrow, cause mine is gravel. Can't afford to pay someone. I have a remanufactured trans from Synchrotech, an Exedy clutch kit, fork and throwout bearing, engine/trans mount kit, 7 quarts of trans fluid. Am I missing anything? I've done some work myself, replaced all of the suspension, bushings, control arms, and did a 5-lug knuckle and brake swap out of an RSX into my 2005 EX coupe. But this is the first time messing with something like this.
      Also, I saw a guy did this by unbolting just that one side of the subframe and letting it hang down in the following video. Do you think that's a viable way to go? Or if I want to change engine mounts, I should probably just take the whole subframe out?

    Hi anonymous garage, and all guys on Your channel willing to help people seeking knowledge and have a desire to gain new skills!
    :-)
    My civic 2003 1.7’s original transmission died completely, and we bought SLXA from JDM, and did the swap!
    We did all that was recommended by JDM in the invoice instructions!
    We swapped all sensors from the original MLXA transmission, including the range switch!
    But there is still a problem!
    Engine labors until 20~25 mi/h ,and it seems like it doesn't engaging lower gears!
    Above that, it shifts normally,but again:
    When car slows down, it doesn't downshift to lower gear!
    We played around with the range switch and cable linkage, but without positive results:-(
    I did a lot of research on line, and there is a lot of info about that swap!
    The thing is....I never found anything about our issue!
    ......What a bitch!
    :-(
    But hey! That same bitch is the best teacher isn’t she;-)
    As we know You have done that swap,
    and probably had that problem during the replacement ;-)
    My concern is if rather the problem lays in a defective transmission, but there is no way for us to know for sure because we do that for first time!
    There are less then three weeks left from the 60 days warranty!
    We have to find out!
    If transmission is defective, we have to request replacement!
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thank You , and have a Great day, and whole lot of new subscribers !
    Salut!
    Steve!
    :-)
