Nice to see those 17Bit discs, I spent many a happy Saturday morning poring over the lists in their office to see which discs I wanted to throw my pocket money away on!
Someone should create a channel to talk about nothing but old nostalgic things. LOL Those pull and fold disk boxes with the Corel disks was the best part. Man those brought back a flood of memories.
Haha. Yes I always think what takes my fancy is both needed and going to be used to death in preference to the thousands of other PC possessions I already own (and were also purchased and rapidly discarded with the same sincere intent to use). But I never fell for the Psion's allure.
Trouble with having so much great stuff is that life is too short to play or use it all.

Recognised that "get the most out of your amiga" booklet straight away. Ahh, they loved fractals in the 90s, didn't they?
Judging by the typeface used on the cover of that book, i think it may have come from the Amiga Format magazine. Or possibly Amiga Shopper, which had the same publisher (Future).
Those fractals took ages to render, of course you put em on something important.
LGR finds some nice stuff. But what I have found is that really it depends on the locality. Other than a local flea market, the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores in my area do not have much in terms of tech finds. You got sent some nice stuff! :)
In Australia they wont sell anything broken or slightly dirty
Lotus Improv is amazing. I managed to get ahold of not less than two boxes of it, one unopened. It was originally made for the NeXT computer, then ported to Windows. Lotus 1-2-3 team hated it and saw it as a threat and so its life got short. The ideas in it live on mostly unchanged in the current product Quantrix Modeller.

We had/have VTech Precomputers in the US too. I think mine's one of the Prestige models. Laptop-shaped, bigger screen with a bunch of educational games as well as BASIC built-in. I had so much fun with it back before I had access to "real" computers regularly.
The only VTech I ever saw were basically learning computers with tiny screens.

Those floppy disks and A diskets are the most impressive ones, that basic learning portible computer is very primitive and confusing to use because of that small display, it looks more like a extended calculator.

My first Amiga programming book that i bought was Amiga Basic programming published by Abacus.
I wish there was a way to read and play CDs while still in their shrink wrapped box :-)

Psion 3 (and maybe better so 5).. was excelent in browsing the web back in the 90-tys.. Using a phone with a IR port you could brows the internet just fine

Yea.... if you can find a bunsh of 1998 webpages it will work fantastically.... Its a bit slow if you don´t have a GPRS phone, like a T39. But that is a bit cheaty

I need to get a book on Amiga DOS.
Paint Shop Pro was not originally a Corel product. It started out being made by Jasc Software and was bought out by Corel at the height of its popularity so that Corel could change it to stop it competing with their own product. I used to own it when it was Jasc, from version 4 to version 6. Corel's first version was version 10. I still use version 9 to this day which I did not pay for but seeing as I paid full price for 4, 5, and 6 as they did not have upgrade discounts I feel entitled to version 9 :P

I have a suspicion the floppy at 11:41 for Amiga Computing may (or may not) be the one which boots itself and has a card game called "klondike" on it (patience) and has a generic printer driver that means, if you print from that booted disk (like a dpaint graphics file etc) using a citizen AH70MO1 ribbon dot matrix parallel printer, you get better quality than with the official printer driver since it prints over each line 3 times.
I have the hard backed copy of the Autosketch 3 manual.
Our thrift stores USED to be good - For about 10 years now they've taken out hard disks from computers or outright (more often than not) not sold them. I used to pick up 486s and 386s for like $10 for full systems, getting 90s software and keyboards, cleaning them up and selling them on eBay for 10x that, sometimes more.
It seriously put a dent in my OSAP loan, that's for sure.
Nothing interesting these days... Also Goodwill went under in Toronto.

When I was a kid I bought a Commodore 64 for $20 at a yardsale, and it came with loads of pirated games. This would not be worth bringing up, but I also got a copy of "Adventure construction kit" and I just wanted to say it's not very good at all.

With messenger on your phone you can still use it without the app by setting your phones browser to desktop mode, that's how i get around it.

Nevertheless, you complain about your thrift shops. In my country, I'm glad I can find a CD in there, otherwise it's either considered total rarity for auctions (like audio reel tapes) or straight up thrown in thrash, like floppies or ball mice.
How much better American thrift stores are??? Trust me, 99.9% trips of American thrift stores visits turn up nothing but rubbish... It really just comes down to luck of being in the right store at the right time.
