In my life, I am a vocal coach. You can clearly hear he is in chest voice (our natural voice) with the deep voice and verging on head voice (pushing the sound forward and into the nasal cavity) for the higher voice. Meaning, the deeper voice IS his real voice. He isn't showing any vocal fry in the deeper voice, which, too, says it's not outside of his normal modal voice.
It is impossible to make your voice deeper like that. There is a limit to the depth a human voice can go without fry... the length and thickness of the vocal cords determine that.
