Yes! Nirvana can be considered punk especially the first 2 albums(they are grunge, and that is by definition fuse of metal, PUNK, and alt. rock). To say "Nirvana is not punk enough to put it in this video" is like saying "Queen isn't a rock band" (They were the fuse of bazillion genres xD)... The point is: I think it's more critical to put "Wake me up as September ends" in a video for pUNk solos...
These solos are very easy, yes, but the fact they're such earworms shows how well-written they are for this type of track. They're like vocal hooks on a completely different instrument (except for Come As You Are, which is literally the vocal hook).
It's like all you need is three chords, an electric guitar, and a attitude that says: fuck, this life we live sucks donkey balls, let me put it into song. Now I want a guitar. Also Green Day soothes me, excellent.
I can absolutely agree with the solo in "I wanna be Sedated", you have this great song, then you get to the solo, and you just feel like taking a nap, not because you're tired from the rest of the song, but because you're 90% sure you could play the solo in your sleep, it's that simple, but I still love the song lol
Me, a non guitar player and Bad Religion fan at 0:30: “That doesn’t SOUND easy!” You: “LOL Mr Brett go doobedoobedoobedoobedoobedoobedoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo”
Agent Orange's A Cry For Help In A World Gone Mad solo consists of one note played on two different strings the whole way through, that's definitely worth a mention
The thing with nirvana that most people don’t get is that grunge is a post punk genre that is primarily based off of punk with elements of other genres in it. It’s a similar thing with pop punk and metal punk, there all originate from the post punk movement
I like your videos dude you make fun content your and playing is really tight - please keep it up. Maybe drop the American Idiot Hot Topic uniform but otherwise great stuff 🤘👍🎸
21 guns also has an easy solo for a green day song😊but good compilation, the last one doh (serious??? Bcuz I've never seen the tabs b4!) And nice guitar, for a while, I tot that was some acoustic bcuz the design & color looked like one doh😊😊keep em vids coming for us -staying at home..- 😄
You're playing 3 days bro xD Don't worry and practice, learn some scales and do finger exercises. Btw maybe you should play right hand guitar, a friend of mine is left handed but plays right handed guitar, maybe you should try that out if it works better for you. Keep playing and good luck ;)
Nirvana is _considered_ a grunge band, but they really aren't. They made way for the true grunge bands into the mainstream, but Nirvana was far more punk than anything else.
I can see why people think that nirvana is punk, but they’re universally considered grunge. They even considered themselves to be not punk because they were to melodic to fit the genre even though they were clearly inspired by some punk bands as seen in songs such as Tourettes, Territorial Pissings, and Breed.
That's the whole point, though. Punk is meant to be easy to play. It's not music for musicians, it's music for passionate people making noise about issues they care about. It's supposed to be blunt, honest and relatable, not an elaborate display of technical ability.

What solos did I miss? Let me know in the comments:)
Daniel Swisher these are the best solos, dude. I wanna be sedated is the easiest
Plays "Anarchy in the UK" with an American flag strap. Absolute beast.
Paul MCcartney and Billie Joe had a son
So true
Very true
Omg yes 😂
It took me a minute to get that joke XD.
So many people need ass kickings.
That lack of Misfit's "We Are 138" one-note solo, though.
It's two note solo :D
Hatebreeders also has an incredibly easy solo
Some kind of hate as well
Das war mein erster Gedanke xD
I love that you put nirvana as punk, thats what they considered themselves to be, and thats what they should be
What are they normally considered to be?
Manthan Shah grunge
@@moonhead9282 they are
Demetrio Solis well nirvana considers themselves punk rock- so you should too
@@moonhead9282 but they dont really play punk music its more emo and grunge
Yes! Nirvana can be considered punk especially the first 2 albums(they are grunge, and that is by definition fuse of metal, PUNK, and alt. rock). Pheraps you don know that Wake me Up when September ends is an example of soft punk...
Pop Punk actually...
Not even punk
Lea sdgjsrfzf. nirvana is not pop punk. actually do some research before commenting. listen to bleach. that is in no way pop punk
You have the reason
If Paul McCartney was PUNK!
Nirvana very well is punk, especially their first two albums. Had the punk spirit too, as well as the sound. Great video man, loved it!
MyNameIsNidos exactly
Kirk is the the main thing that makes it grunge
Nirvana was punk influenced but they we're most definitely grunge
Maybe Bleach have some punk sound but Nevermind is a pure grunge
Bleach was sludge
Nevermind was punk that got classified as grunge
In Utero is definitely their grungiest album
Green Day is like a treatment for a soul
yes. yes indeed.
Hell ya to this comment green day rules
His face at 2:39 really said '☹️'
i appreciate the amount of Green Day in this video
They have some of the easiest solos ever
your profile pic makes me happy
your pfp >>>
Nicholas Weatherman easy but still entertaining.
Their first album actually had some good solos, but they dropped them to work on singing.
I really need an electric guitar
same i only have an acoustic guitar made with plywood :_:
Same
same gonna buy one after things turns ok
Look At squire/Epiphone. You can get the Epiphone version of the guitar he’s playing here for about 375. Which is a great price for a Les Paul Jr
Get a bass and play with fuzz pedals and distortion, it's more fun ;)
Anarchy in the UK might be one of the easiest but it literally shaped the future of punk and modern music as we know it ❤️
These solos are very easy, yes, but the fact they're such earworms shows how well-written they are for this type of track. They're like vocal hooks on a completely different instrument (except for Come As You Are, which is literally the vocal hook).
Oh Danny boi, we all appreciate your existence.
Another amazing video delivered by our internet punk king
Proof you don’t need to be Joe Satriani to write a great solo as The Clash, Pistols, BR, Ramones, Nirvana all classics
Just goes to show you for Green Day it doesn’t need to be the most complicated thing in the world for it to sound good
It's like all you need is three chords, an electric guitar, and a attitude that says: fuck, this life we live sucks donkey balls, let me put it into song. Now I want a guitar.
Also Green Day soothes me, excellent.
Haha this comment made me laugh 😂
@@DanielSwisherMusic Happy to oblige.

10 perfect examples for the phrase "serve the song"
Can we confirm that this guy’s favorite band is Green Day?? yes we can
Need tabs for 3:06
Hitching a ride has a pretty cool and easy solo
Yh unless youre doing the tremolo
Love how you included bowling for soup sex pistols green day and nirvana in the same video
now hardest punk solos?
Didn’t downstroke I Wanna Be Sedated smh
Love that tone, Daniel. Gonna try these today!
Thank you, Rohan!
I can absolutely agree with the solo in "I wanna be Sedated", you have this great song, then you get to the solo, and you just feel like taking a nap, not because you're tired from the rest of the song, but because you're 90% sure you could play the solo in your sleep, it's that simple, but I still love the song lol
loved the nirvana solo face HA!
They’re also iconic, melodic and fun
never knew how much i needed to hear Nirvana solos on a p-90. damn that sounds great
It's me, or he looks like Paul McCartney? 😂
Yow those 18 dislike came from People who like beat murmurs rather than literacy and raw talent
Me, a non guitar player and Bad Religion fan at 0:30: “That doesn’t SOUND easy!”
You: “LOL Mr Brett go doobedoobedoobedoobedoobedoobedoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo”
I play guitar and that doesn’t sound easy. It’s not that difficult, really.
Agent Orange's A Cry For Help In A World Gone Mad solo consists of one note played on two different strings the whole way through, that's definitely worth a mention
Can we even call I wanna be sedated a solo? Still love these songs. Welcome to paradise and American idiot we’re the first two solos I learned 🤷♀️
Number one has to be I wanna be sadated
Indeed. I don't know of any other solo quite like it
Holiday in Cambodia by Dead Kennedys - just tremolo that thin string
The thing with nirvana that most people don’t get is that grunge is a post punk genre that is primarily based off of punk with elements of other genres in it.
It’s a similar thing with pop punk and metal punk, there all originate from the post punk movement
Another one would be Mockba ‘993 by Banda Bassotti.
They’re Italian, if you’re wondering
I wanna be sedated is the ultimate solo
I don't know why, but I thought you looked like Paul McCartney
How could you forget “we are 138” by misfits it’s 2 notes!!!
I was waiting fo "I wanna be sedated" and I'm Not disappointed.
I like your videos dude you make fun content your and playing is really tight - please keep it up. Maybe drop the American Idiot Hot Topic uniform but otherwise great stuff 🤘👍🎸
AHHHH!!! GREEN DAY!!!❤❤❤
Who else knew I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones was gonna be #1?
I Holiday is one of favorite punk songs and I also love smells like teen spirit
Love you man
ONE MORE LOVR FOR YOU
Is it bad I think Shadowplay is supposed to be on the list?
That moment when you miss the note during the I Fought the Law solo in an easiest punk solos video 😂😂
Never missed your video
I just thought this was a list of my favorite bands
amazing👉👈🥺
I'm glad you put bowling for soup :)🤘
Great Video,Thanks 🤘
I love your Gibson LP!
I got my first electric guitar about 3 days ago and man this stuff is hard!!! What makes it harder is being left handed :(
It's hard but fun and worth it. Practice little and often
You're playing 3 days bro xD
Don't worry and practice, learn some scales and do finger exercises. Btw maybe you should play right hand guitar, a friend of mine is left handed but plays right handed guitar, maybe you should try that out if it works better for you.
Keep playing and good luck ;)
I’m left handed and i play right handed guitar. It works fine for me.
the face he made during come as you r is really funny
I don’t understand why you don’t have 30 million subs
Thank you Paloma! Appreciate the kind words
Nice list of solos, Daniel! Although Nirvana is considered a grunge band, the songs you played in the video sound good!
Eric Lau stop
Nirvana is _considered_ a grunge band, but they really aren't. They made way for the true grunge bands into the mainstream, but Nirvana was far more punk than anything else.
I see where you are coming from
You look like Paul McCartney
I swear to god, the Holiday solo is literally the best solo in the whole world, and I’m a diehard metal head...
Very bias, but i'm not gonna fight you friend, because that is what you believe the most
Holiday itself is one of the best punk songs ever. I wouldn’t say it has the best solo, but it’s pretty damn good.
I’m sitting here as the list goes on, “if I wannabe sedated isn’t on here......”
Should have mentioned sr-71 for 1985 as they were the band that made the song and thus the solo. Not to mention their music is sick
Literally any punk solo
I wanna be sedated.. I will try to do it ❤️
AWESOME
I can see why people think that nirvana is punk, but they’re universally considered grunge. They even considered themselves to be not punk because they were to melodic to fit the genre even though they were clearly inspired by some punk bands as seen in songs such as Tourettes, Territorial Pissings, and Breed.
Yo i love your vids i wish i could play guitar
Knowledge by Operation ivy?
after the holiday solo I started humming the riff
Stray Heart by Green Day?
Is everything based around minor pentatonic and Natural
Minor scales?
The When I Come Around solo is so easy even I can play it!
2:45
Best face
I keep forgetting that "When September ends" even HAS a solo.
Awesome
1985 IS BY SR-71 which is also a punk band
What would happen when
Daniel "Ball is Life" Swisher
meets
Daniel "Sk8er boi" Thrasher.
oh my god yessss
I ask myself that question sometimes. I think the universe would implode.
Came here just for ramones😂
no egg solo today? great video still!
Why was my notification 18h late???
Nirvana is my favourite punk band.
Where was boredom by buzzcocks?
That's the whole point, though. Punk is meant to be easy to play. It's not music for musicians, it's music for passionate people making noise about issues they care about. It's supposed to be blunt, honest and relatable, not an elaborate display of technical ability.
Hey friend. Did you record the rhythm tracks with the P90 as well? Love the tone.
Yes I did. Thank you very much!
'Boredom' by Buzzcocks should've made the list instead of Green Day or BFS.
HOLIDAY!!!!❤❤❤
Bombshell-Operation Ivy^^
I lost it at Come As You Are
i was gonna make a joke about how there’s no way #1 would be accurate since i found a song where the solo is just 2 notes and then i heard #1.
That is a sweet guitar
nice
I find solos difficult cuz depending on the length, I feel like I won’t remember all the notes
Nirvana ❤️ i love that
Who else knew what number 1 would be lmao
Green day, master of basic riffs
