- Time for another episode of Dissecting Dimensions! In this video I take a dive into the Legends of Chima adventure world. Seeing as this is one of only two franchises from Year 1 of Lego Dimensions to not have a dedicated story level, I didn't have as much to say about this one, but hopefully you enjoy the video anyways!

Now this is a Lego franchise I don’t hear too many people talk about.
Its very underrated It got lost in the shadow of it's older brother Ninjago despite being a decent franchise(IMO)
Its a show that recieved a lot of love but was a victim of circumstance and lifespan.... I love lego chima but it is very unfortunate that a show with a lot of potential died because people liked a more boring (MY OPINION) show. RIP
By boring I meant NINJAGO. Yeah, NINJAGO had worse character design and concepts overall compared to Chima (IMO)

I'm actually quite familiar with this show. I'm surprised some people pretend this series doesn't exist except the old fans of this show!
I genuinely preferred Ninjago over it. idk why I just couldnt get into it.
As a kid, I actually was familiar with Chima and I thought it was a weird, spin off franchise from the 2011 Thundercats.
I bought some lego sets and even saw the cartoon.
I have some fondness over the cartoon. I didn't watch it more often like Ninjago, but I did enjoy it ( I think my favorite episode was when the Crocodile tribe got capture by the Wolves tribe and throughout the episode, the Crocodile Tribes seem to be enjoying being captive which annoys the Wolves, causing them to allow the main character to rescue them. I think that's how I remember it ).
I loved this world so much
it felt like a love letter to the fans of the show and it's very much appreciated considering Chima didn't get a level
hearing the soundtrack and visting iconic places was just awesome
I remember watching the LEGO Chima show on Cartoon Network and I thought it's underrated. Too bad the show is held responsible for the cancellation of Thundercats Roar 2011.
Yeah, which kinda sucks. If they wanna to advertise the 2011 series they could've just turn it into Lego.
Agree. People just say these types of things because they dont care about CHima. What a shame
I recall there being a rumor that Legends of Chima was commissioned short-term to fill the void left by ThunderCats 2011 after that show got canceled for budgetary reasons.

That’s what I thought too. I mean, the main character is basically Lion-O in all but name
@@Aego384 I dont think so. Both shows have different plots and ideas... I just think laval being similar to ThunderCat's protag was a marketing strategy honestly
and by saying that Chima was supposed to substitute ThunderCats, you're missing the point of CHima and disregarding what it tried to do....
Also just wanted to point out that Legends of Chima also has a brief cameo in the story mode by means of Laval being summoned in Riddle-Earth in the final boss.
I'm glad people still remember chima. This theme had a lot of potential, with dark subjects sprinkles onto it, creative ideas and overall good character design. If Chima survived against this monster of a monopoly that is Ninjago, we could've seen better developpement towards tribes that were basically forgotten and we could've seen better, more creative set designs! Chima did try its best to worldbuild: its fantastic on the show but on the sets its pretty okay, but by seeing all ninjago sets, I can understand that Lego Chima did a much better job worldbuilding. A show we didn't deserve, but needed....
The worst part is that Chima gained a lot of love in the start, but then LEGO just gave up on the franchise after the 3rd wave aka the Outlands. Such a shame Chima is underdevelopped, underrated and did not recieve fair treatment... ughhh
One correction: the temple on top Mount Cavora is not the home of the eagles it is the home of the phoenix the eagles live in a spire which isn't represented in the game.

Legends of Chima probably has a bunch of cool character designs.
Just found this series of videos yesterday and i'm absolutely in love with them, I really love this game and it's so cool to see someone giving it so much love. Excited for that Portal video and for when you do the Sonic one!
If I’m not mistaken, the reason for the Chima characters not having their VAs return is because the recordings were done in Canada for the show. Whilst the game was recorded in the US. Ninjago ran into the same issue. I could be wrong about this, but it’s what I remember hearing.

I’m somewhat familiar with Legends of Chima, it came out a little after Ninjago wrapped up it’s second season and was somewhat weird. What’s weirder to me is that it actually made a cameo in Ninjago once in the final episode of season 5. But it’s going to be interesting to see how they handled this little series in Lego Dimensions.

It’s always sad to see how bad Chima got shafted in just about everything. Chima was originally intended to outright replace Ninjago, which created a lot of animosity towards it. If they’d’ve just kept BOTH shows, it could’ve worked great!
Chima’s trademark WAS renewed a year or so ago now, and Chima and Ninjago are in the same universe/both one of the sixteen realms, so it’s entirely possible we could see Chima again in Dragons Rising. One of the writers confirmed that Chima was effected by the realms merging, so it’s definitely possible.
I have a few corrections/notes to make, so I’ll put ‘em here -
10:50 That’s the Phoenix temple. They’re kind of the Forerunners (Halo) of Chima, and are responsible for (accidentally) creating Mount Cavora and Chi.
The Eagles live in the Eagle Spires, which are giant pillars of rock with an eagle-shaped city on the top.
9:36 The Outlands aren’t normally cold. They’re that way because of the enemy Ice Hunter tribes in Season 3. Prior to that, they were a fairly standard “toxic jungle” biome with giant venus flytraps and newly-created bat, scorpion, and spider tribes that attacked Chima proper in season 2.
Reagull is half-raven and half-eagle. He lives/lived(?) in the Raven tribe’s junkyard.
14:30 This is a reference to a subplot in a season 1 episode where Gorzan and some other gorillas (who are basically hippies lol) find a flower growing in the middle of the road and spend the whole episode protecting it. They eventually move it to a hill after Worriz and a few other wolves try to run it over with their giant trucks. Gorzan kicks their butts with his mech but a piece of debris from the trucks lands on the flower anyway.
I wish the main 3 got their season 1 (aka normal) armor/outfits instead of their season 3 Fire Chi outfits. They’re SO much better!
Laval looks straight-up traumatized here lol.
Depending on who and when you count, there are between 9 and 22 tribes: Season 1 had the Lions, Eagles, Crocodiles, Gorillas, Beavers, Bears, Rhinos, Ravens, and Wolves. Season 2 added the Bats, Spiders, and Scorpions. And S3 added the Phoenix, Leopards, Tigers, Saber-Tooths, Mammoths, Vultures, and Ice Bears. S1 also had a nomadic skunk, fox, peacock, and debatably Plovar, but nobody really knows what the deal with them is.
Beavers look COMPLETELY different in the show. Lego reused the yeti mold to save money. People were NOT happy about that!
Their voices here are WAY off! Laval wasn’t that annoying in the show, and Cragger had a deeper growling voice. I wish they’d’ve kept the original VAs.
That Jurassic park area isn’t from Jurassic park it’s from doctor who but to be fair i mistaked it too since I’ve never seen dr who
this so-called "Jurassic world secret area" you speak of is not actually from Jurassic world but rather from a doctor who episode called "dinosaurs on a space station" but i understand your confusion, i fell victim to this misconception too

A chima, I always loved the series, to me at least it's the second best lego aninated series under Ninjago. It had a good amount of potential and I'm happy it got this at the end of it's life.
I'm just thankful that Nexo Knights isn't in Dimensions.

The Best thing about Chima in my opinion is that all the sets are still affordable 9 years later, Compared with the insane money old star wars sets cost
I know nothing about Chima, but I have a friend who is a friend who tells me that Cragger's voice is far less annoying in the show and that the impressionist did a bad job
Was really disappointed on how Razar wasn't included when they added Laval, Cragger and Eris in the game.
The raven tribe was unfortunately very underdevelopped... they only had 1 set about their tribe, literally. Wished they recieved more love!

just for the fact that he is a anthro reptile
and they are both underrated and reptiles are my favorite kind of animals
(seriouslly how many anthro reptiles can you name, that aren't from TMNT?)
This and Ninjago were the only ones to my knowledge that didn't have any voice actors from their shows to show up.
But if we are being fair Chima already had some questionable voice acting to begin with so it's only a downgrade for Ninjago.
1. That “Jurassic World” place you go to via the Tardis in the “Riddle-Earth” story level is actually from the Doctor Who episode “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship”.
2. Anyone who knows a thing or two about Ninjago knows is that the series has its own mini multiverse, and the Land of Chima is a part of that mini multiverse & is briefly seen in episode 54.
Do even use the Lego Dimensions Wiki?!
Sorry about this rant comment lol. I know about this second fact but I realy hate how LEGO made CHima a part of NINJAGO when both of the series have literally nothing to do with eachother lore wise and design wise. Chima *literally* does not have humans nor snakes in it. Both of these franchises work perfectly without eachother, because they dont need eachother. Both tackle different subjects and are different in nature. This """lore"""" was probably made as a last effort to make Chima survive, but oh well.

That’s actually unknown to be true as no photographic evidence exist of this behavior(the one in the video is just a really bad photoshop image) and only reported sightings of this behavior occurred so overall the plover cleaning crocodiles teeth thing is just a myth
Funny you mention Cragger's voice, because that was the reason I didn't watch the show as a kid: I found him very annoying so I just stuck with Ninjago.
I too have the least knowledge of Chima, I really preferred Ninjago over it, but I think my brother had a few sets but I mostly remember us playing with Ninjago and the Power Miners lol
LEGO NINJAGO SUPREMACY!!!! I love LN!! It deserved to continue as long as it did! But I do feel bad for Chima for getting discontinued. Maybe I’ll watch it some time.

Because even though I don't like that incarnation, I love the Powerpuff Girls as a whole.
Plus people really enjoyed my videos on it.
