Condolences for losing your dad. Stuff like that is never easy. I bought a 1982 16800 with matte dial back in 2004. Kept it about 2 1/2 years and sold it when money got a little tight. It's funny: I miss the jingle jangle of the hollow end and center links. To this day, my wife says it was the best looking watch I've owned. Wear and enjoy your dad's, my friend👍
Thank you my friend. I actually later found the anchor and the hang tag. So this set is complete. Now i just need to get it serviced and the dial replaced with a real Rolex dial. Then it will be a great EDC watch.
One of my family’s proudest moments, was when we bought my retired father a Rolex. He said it’s something he’s always dreamed of owning, and passed away a short time after. We bought it 5 years ago for around $8,000.
Your Dad had good taste and this is the perfect watch to remember him buy .

That’s amazing.
I’m not sure if Rolex will service the watch anymore since it was worked on by an unauthorized repairman.
Ya not sure.
