It's time for me to be checked. I'm 58, and noticed it took me a good while to urinate, and I seemed to not be able to put any power behind it. My 70+ year old aunt, told me welcome to old age, like this issue, is a common thing for older women.
Well, this morning, I woke up busting to pee, and because our master bath is under construction, I have to run to my son's bathroom. But, this morning, it leaked out on me in my bed, I jumped outta bed and went running for the bathroom, and literal had some urine come down my legs on my way.
This told me, something is wrong, and I need to be check out.
Thanks for sharing your story! I'm going go see my Dr because of it.

Early detection but if your doctor won't listen to you in the first place or fobs you off time and again that can be quite difficult. Believe me I know it happened to me. So glad this lady is being looked after. She's a great person.

My husband has papillary urothelial carcinoma, high-grade, invasive of lamina propria. He had the tumor removed in January 2022 and he’s gone for monthly chemo treatments ever since. We are down now to scopes every four months, but he likewise was told this will be a lifelong battle. Best wishes to you!

Michelle beautiful, thank you. I felt every word. We are warriors of the same tribe. We chose quality over quantity. We sought urology oncology specialists we trusted in battle. Today marks 1yr since my last BC surgery. Yesterday my CT report still reads as NED. Yet I know to stay prepared for life.

It doesn't sound like they explained all the options available if your bladder was removed. Besides having a urostomy (ileal conduit), there is the Indiana pouch, the neobladder, and the Mitrofanoff. Please ask about those because you DO have choices. You might prefer a neobladder - you urinate normally, no bag, no need to catheterize (as with an Indiana pouch). Or - many choose to have combination chemotherapy/radiation which has similar outcomes to bladder removal. Wearing a urostomy bag works for people of any size. You have to remember that the uro-oncologist has never had a urostomy, so their opinion is pretty worthless. Your best advocate in this scenario would be a stoma/continence nurse.

You can put pee all the time in the intestinal skin. Over time the pee will tear a hole because pee has acid.

I had bladder cancer in 2009. My urine looked like very very light, faded watermelon juice. If I wasn't using white toilet paper, I would not have even noticed. I called my doctor the next day & told him that I had bladder cancer. I knew. My dad taught me the 7 signs of cancer when I was about 12 years old. That was not the 1st time that I have correctly diagnosed myself! I hope you stay healthy!
