Whitby Steam Punk Festival Summer 2024

- Another fabulous day down at the annual Whitby Steam Punk Festival, in glorious summer sunshine. After parking at the Park and Ride, I got off the bus at the Whitby Pavilion and met some wonderful people, as well as looking at all the stalls on two sperate floors. I watch the fantastic Ravens Morris dancing and singing outside the pavilion, bringing their own unique take on Morris dancing before heading to the harbour area, taking the 199 steps up to the church, Whitby Abbey and then treat myself to a 'sit in' at my favourite Whitby fish n chips shop - Mr Chips! A dam fine day out, with wonderful company, in a stunning North Yorkshire setting.

Whitby Steam Punk Festival in summer sounds like an amazing experience! They are doing a Pirate Festival the last weekend in August for the very first time, so I will be giving that a go too, as the Steam Punk and Goth Festivals at Whitby are always awesome, I really enjoy them. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

What a colourful video! Whitby in the sunshine, what could be better. This really does look like such a fun event. Everyone looks fabulous in their steam punk regalia 🤩🙌. The weather was perfect as well, just such a shame I had to go early and miss out on Sunday too. As well as this one and the Goth festivals they are going to start a Pirate Festival the last weekend in August so that should be fun too, so I will be heading there for that one as well. Another awesome trip to the festival. People sure do play and wear their parts well. Fun to see. Awesome that you stop and talk with some of them too. I saw a Jack Sparrow look alike in the crowd. Pretty cool. Kristy would love coming here. This is too similar to Halloween with all the outfits and costumes. Awesome stuff. Hope all is well. Oh, the fish n chips looked amazing btw. Yes, they run as the Goth Festivals twice a year, although the SPF is not as big. It is just as much fun though and filled with the same awesome people, its a really good vibe down there. Appreciate you stopping by, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, love the sound of the seagulls 😃 Sorry to hear about Mrs M, hope she is better now 🙏 I do love the look of Whitby and must visit once day. Everyone seemed so friendly at this festival that you spoke to especially Mr and Mrs Draper and cute friend, and the costumes were amazing that everyone had on. The streets and shops are so lovely, lots of steps going up there though 😃 The abbey and church are stunning and those gravestones so atmospheric. That nun story was really funny 😄👏 The views looking down to the coast are so beautiful and that harbour is stunning. Fabulous Morris dancers and people and the fish and chips looked delicious. Whitby is the perfect place to host this festival. This was really good to watch 👍~ Anna
Yes, she has a chest infection, so really disappointed she is stuck indoors with her feet up, something she hates. Always enjoy this festival and the Goth festivals too, so much fun, great people and I always have to have a Whitby fish n chips, nothing else cuts it lol. Appreciate you stopping by, cheers Alan

Fun festival Alan! Love seeing all the costumes and clothing! People of all ages are having a grand time! It’s interesting to see how people express Steam Punk- including Pirates! I wonder if some of the people cross-over and steam punk is their life style? Anyway, it’s lots of fun- great music and food too. Yes, they are having their first pirate festival at Whitby next month so there is a lot of cross over. I always look for ward to these weekend festivals and brilliant the weather was so nice too. Shame I had to go early but I still has an awesome time. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan

Yes, I know that is a shame but I know you very good reasons why. Mrs Metalman has a chest infection, which is taking forever to clear but hopefully on the mend now. I had to leave early to make sure she was okay but went really early as well, so I still enjoyed the day and met some wonderful people. Appreciate you stopping by, cheers Alan
Great video Alan , Whitby is amazing , I liked the Morris dance group , you get a lot of traditional Morris dancers in the Saddleworth villages near me , pretty friendly bunch , they do a couple of 10 minute dances then are drinking ale in the pubs the rest of the time! might have to do become one myself 😂😂 best wishes pal 🦇🦇🖤🖤,

Mrs Metalman suffering with a chest infection and on her second lot of antibiotics, which is whey I got there so early and was away by dinner time too (she did enjoy that fudge mind). I let at 12.00 Rob as people were starting to flood into town and I had to get back, so I think I got the best and the quietest part of the day, especially with the temperature raising. I was taking to the bus driver and he said the park and ride would be available for the Goth weekend but the last bus back out be at 16.45, so maybe worth a though for parking (free) and a couple of quid for a return ticket. I met some wonderful people and the ones I talked to that watched my channel all said they watched yours too, so such a shame you did not bump into them all. To be honest that is the first time I have even say in Mr Chips and it was really nice inside with a couple of real friendly lasses too, a very pleasant experience I must try again and hopefully with Mrs Metalman next time too. nice video. they dont do this stuff in TEXAS. we have a few ren faires but they are all to far to go to and they are all in summer so its waaaay to hot to go

Alan, thanks for sharing the video. Whitby is a beautiful city with magnificent architecture and the seaside. The 199 steps is quite a workout. The costumes were great but I’m not familiar with a steam punk festival but it looked like a fun day. Hope Mrs Metalman is feeling better. The music/dance team were very good. How far do you live from Whitby?
It is just over an hours drive for me to get to Whitby, so it is a place we visit quite a lot, especially mid week, out of school holidays when it is a lot quieter. Steam Punk started in the 1970s in the UK but its inspirations go back to 9th century Victorian times. Its always a fun festival and one I always look forward too.
