It's hard to be stealthy in a van that has windows all round and once the windows are blocked out it stands out from a mile away. I have two windowless vans and I have camped for days within a five minute walk from Central Station in the Sydney CBD without issues, cops could not care less, I actually asked the cops that pulled up near my van and they said they did not care. I only stealth camp when I am in the big cities, obviously pick you spots and park legally. I park up well before sun down and usually like having a big sleep in. I will often park somewhere walking distance to public toilets and somewhere to buy breakfast after I get up. I am actually building an off grid stealth camp van at the moment.
Yea it's certainly not ideal having windows but I was working with what I already have. I'm sure you'd have a plethora of tips of your own, especially for city camping. I personally struggled with it more for the noise over anything else and try to go quite a bit further out. Thanks for sharing 😊
Incognito camping sometimes, I can relate to what you say. All good smart #vanlife concerns. Curtains! Probably the trickiest part of my van existence, thus far. (2 years) I’ve had to become a curtain maker/shade engineer of sorts. Street lights, personal space, fairness to fellow campers 😮 😜will be something you’re forced to deal with, at some stage in life van mode. And mosquitos. A bloody mosquito just molested me. Ducking mosquitos! Ducking spell check! Anyway, Dig the vid. 👍
There’s 2 different sets of stealth parking: stealth camping/travelling & stealth…car or van living. Although I’m looking for vids on car/van living, I do like seeing some Australian channels 👍
Yes, all good advice👍 I like I can turn my lights to orange/yellow, it’s anti insects but also softer than white yet still provides sufficient light for basics.
Park legally and don't make any sound when your in the van and you don't need to be moving the whole time. I spend two full days and nights in the same spot in the nicest areas of Sydney and Melbourne. Do have a van that I have made to look very tradie like.
There is no such thing a stealth.. now that I am looking to vanlife, I can tell a van if somebody lives there or not. Giveaways r window covers, AC in d roof, solar panels, any exhaust holes for heater or toilet, shore power inlet, any wall holes or modifications like water fill opening, exhaust etc.
That is certainly true, I suppose a better way of putting it is like minimized presence and not making it more obvious than it already is while being respectful to the community

You need a UA-cam page. It'd be cool to watch CBD stealth vids n the build as well.

Lucky you. I love warmer light and use it wherever I can, whether that be at home or in the van too 😊
Great video!
Thanks for the great tips!! ^_^
Glad it helped! 😊

1st Mistake is living in a van in the first place.
