Visually induced dizziness or visually induced motion sickness is a common condition that can occur when someone walks through a busy visual environment like the supermarket, grocery store, big-box store or places with large crowds or busy patterns.
The Vestibular Disorders Association's mission is to inform, support and advocate for the vestibular community. We envision a global community where vestibular disorders are widely recognized, rapidly diagnosed, and effectively treated.

Les sous-titres ne sont pas disponibles . Donc cette vidéo ne sert qu'à ceux qui parlent anglais. Les gens articulent mal donc on ne comprends rien!! Subtitles are not available. So this video is only for those who speak English. People don't articulate well so we don't understand anything!!

Whenever I tried to study out why I struggle in crowds, or begin getting dizzy & walking around like a drunk person in the store, all I seemed to find was rubbish about being an empath or 'highly sensitive person'. I guess I didn't consider a vestibular disorder right away because I don't get car sick & anyway I had a traumatizing experience in a too-crowded college bar at Halloween once.

I think I have had this my whole life.

I had this when I was going through a really stressful time. It's a bit like agoraphobia and the reason supermarkets are worse is because of the expanse of shiny floors in between the busy stacked shelves. I used to feel as though I was falling through the floor from a great height. I would walk on the lino as though it were thin ice and I was going to fall through it.
I experienced the exact same thing in the centre of London down a busy boulevard. The problem was that the pavement was too wide, too busy and too many distractions (people, cars and advertising). Again I felt as though I would fall through the ground. I had to walk close to the buildings and literally touch the walls as I walked past them or I had to ground myself either by humming a tune or parting myself on my head. I guessed it worked because either touch or sound was forcing my brain not to just rely on visual stimuli. Thankfully I don't get this anymore out and about but I do get it when I see a photo of someone at a great height on a narrow ledge (eg. Photos of riveters working at height)

I've been having dizzy spells for the last few years. I narrowed it down to supermarkets. I went to the doctor and they ran heart and eye test. Glad I found this UA-cam.

Idk how I stumbled across this. But, this is literally my everyday experience. I work in a manufacturing lab making veterinary diagnostic equipment and devices. And with the noise, bright bright lights, and the fast pace of everything going on it sends me for a loop. It started just before Covid - I have started wearing baseball hats and safety glasses with colored lenses (yellow is the best one for me *currently*).
