According to the new schedule, there would not be a video this week because the video from last week contained an approach and the briefing in the crew room.
Nevertheless, several viewers requested an upload every week - when possible. Even if it is just a part of a full video or a less detailed video.
So I decided to publish a video this week. The video shows a full approach from the cruise altitude to Palma de Mallorca, but no charts and no checklists and no MCDU pages. Just the cockpit video and the audio.
I hope you like this video even if it is not as complex and detailed as my "normal" videos.
Have a nice weekend!
Beautiful approach! Thanks for sharing!! I use your videos with my flight simulator to get used to the A320, I am planning to apply to the airlines here in Argentina the next year so this material is just perfect!
Thanks for your good feedback! I wish you all the best for your aviation career! Many greetings to Argentina!
Hello Captain!
I just wanted to thank you for your time in making these amazing videos... The quality is fantastic, and it is a great feeling to join you in the flight deck for the different phases of the flights. Also it is highly motivating, for those who would like to become commercial pilots in the future, just like myself.
So again, thanks for your time to prepare these fenomenal videos, and would like to wish you all the best, safe flights and happy landings!!
Thank you very much for your very detailed feedback and your good wishes! I also would like to wish you all the best and a nice upcoming week!
Hi it’s Paul from Kent again beautiful landing well done again for giving excellent feedback to the first officer excellent team work
Paul, thanks for watching and your great and detaiked feedback! Thanks also to you for being a long term subscriber of the channel! Greetings to Kent!
Satuarday, Breakfast and a new video from Stefan!
Thanks for watching! Have a nice remaining weekend!
Another great video, thank you Stefan. Landing, no blue.
Glad you enjoyed it! Have a nice day!
well done .holding that ILS with a 10 knot tailwind.the precision was fantastic.very interesting watching you go between 600 700 800 descent rate to hold the ILS.amazing for such a big aircraft.and you are still my favourite crews.:-)
Thanks for sharing your detailed observations and the great feedback! Have a nice week!
Another great upload! I don't think you understand how much I appreciate your posts. I used to dream of being a pilot as kid, even though I ended up in a different field as an adult, your videos make me so happy to see and understand what happens in the upper deck. Also you pressionlism is out of this world! Can I also mention how great the first officer was on this flight? really impressive! Thank YOU Captain
Thanks for watching and for sharing your very personal feedback and your kind words! I agree, the first officer did a great job! Have a nice day!
Fantastic approach. Love the new camera angle after landing
Thanks for watching, your helpful feedback and your financial support of the channel as a member! Have a nice day!
Hallo Stefan, wirklich TOP deine Videos.
Fantastic video as always! Great to have you here in LEPA (I was the ATC who cleared you to land :) )
Thanks a lot for watching and for your great work as an ATC controller! I hope to talk to you soon again! Best greetings to Palma de Mallorca!
You’ve got quite a few fans here in the TWR! Let us know next time you’re here we’ll definitely say hi! 😜
I love to hear that! I will try to let you know when I am flying next time to Palma de Mallorca. I wish you a nice day in the tower!
Lovely Approach captain
We all really appreciate the work you and you team put into these tutorials
Thnaks a lot for your good feedback! It’s great to hear that you appreciate my work!
What a fantastic approach ! Thanks for sharing it.
Funny it was filmed just one day after my holidays there 😃😃
Have a nice week-end !
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! I hope that you had a nice vacation on the beautiful island! Have a nice day!
Fantastic teamwork and video. Hope you found your onward plane without too much walking.
Thanks for your great feedback! Yes, we found the plane. It took us about 10 minutes walking time through the terminal. Have a nice day!
Amazing flight, splendid views, somewhat "busy" taxing with traffic. Really liked the flight deck view @32:17. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and your helpful feedback! Have a wonderful day!
Absolutely love your videos. Specially Mallorca. What an island!
Thanks! I agree, Mallorca is a great island!
Thanks Captain for this beautiful approach !
Even if there isn't charts (which I love so much on your video), it's always a pleasure to be part of this amazing cockpit atmosphere.
Thanks again Stephan for sharing these flights with us.
Have a wonderful day !
Thanks for watching and for sharing your good feedback! I also wish you a great day!
Dear Captain, thank you so much for uploading cockpit videos on your channel. I have been following you for a long time now. Your professional level is magical 💯 Amazing CRM, you speak out even for any small inputs in the cockpit which is wonderful. I get to learn a lot from you. Same goes for the First Officer. Beautiful approach, everything was 10 on 10. It would be my pleasure to fly with you one day. ✈️💯
Thank you so much for your very kind words! Have a great day!
Great Videos, Thank You So Much Captain, Have a Nice Weekend.
Thanks for your good feedback! I also wish you a nice weekend!
Nice approach from the sea - never expired it yet. Intresting the changing and increasing wind during flare! Nice job! thanks Stefan!
Thannks for watching and your good feedback! This is an airport which is known for sometimes massive wind changes during the approach! Have a great day!
Fabulous as always captain.
Thanks!
What a stunning ride this one was,I did enjoy the scenery and it was good to see the English second officer and also good to hear him saying how stunning the views were etc as don't very often hear anyone of you mentioning the views in the flight etc, brilliant video guys and appreciate the time you take to get us these videos to watch, thankyou🙂👍
Thank you so much for your great feedback! Have a nice day!
Beautiful app over the island. I love Mallorca approaches. Great video again, Captain. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! I also like Mallorca approaches very much. It is one of my favorite destinations. Have a nice day!
Thank you, Captain!
Thanks for watching!
A lovely video thank you
Thanks a lot!
once again a fantastic video, very enjoyable.

Tolles Video Stefan! Vielen Dank.
Excellent approach amazing video thankyou so much
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! Have a nice day!
I love it that passengers also got detailed briefing for the landing.😃
Thanks for the feedback! The passengers are giving us usually a good feedback when we give them some more information about the approach, the weather …..
Fantastic approach video ..great crew .
Thanks!
Truly lovely approach with really stunning views! If I remember correctly, the first officer in this video was also the first officer on my flight to Fuerteventura last year with Eurowings.
Thanks for sharing your good feedback! There are also a few flights with the first officer available here on the channel. Even a full flight from Düsseldorf to Zürich with him as pilot flying.
Great video Stefan and good teamwork! Palma’s a busy old airport!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback!
Great teamwork. Another very professional performance in the cockpit.
Thank you very much! Thanks also for your financial support of the channel as a member! Have a nice day!
Again a Great Video!
It’s such an amazing opportunity for young people who are dreaming of becoming a pilot one day to have these videos!
Thank you so much captain!
Thank you for your kind words! Have a good day!
Looks like it was another beautiful day for flying! Something that surprised me in this video wasn’t actually aviation related, it was the First Officer and his accent - he sounds English with the faintest hint of a German accent 😂
Given the recent events at the destination, I feel I should express my condolences to those killed and injured in the building collapse in Mallorca. Wishing those injured a speedy recovery, I understand a number of whom were German nationals.
Thank you for the extra content this week Captain. As you both said, a very beautiful and scenic approach. Lovely smooth landing!
🇩🇪🛫🌍🛬🇪🇸👨🏻✈️
Thanks for watching and your good and very personal feedback!
I was shocked as I heard about the building collapse. Also my condolences to the families of the killed people and my wishes fo a speedy recovery of the injured.
Have a nice day!
Capt. "How-was-it" - maintain the good work!! Thanks alot for the great video!
Thank you for watching and your great feedback!
thank you for the upload captain 33 days until I spend 10 days on that lovely island flying from east midlands airport in the Uk
Thanks for sharing your personal comment! I wish you a very nice vacation! Greetings to East Midlands!
Great videos Captain, best regards from Brussels control (radar ACC)!
It‘s great to hear that you like the videos! Thanks for your good service at Brussels Control! I hope to hear you soon on the radio!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Great to see the other side of our radar, very useful stuff for us to learn as well! Thanks!
Just left Palma to UK and saw all wonderfull euro wings aircraft parked at the airport ❤
Thanks for watching and for sharing your observations! Greetings to the UK!
i know it's not easy, but is there any chance to put an ECAM or MCDU camera view as well? Maybe just briefly when it is more relevant and instead of another camera angle. Just a suggestion. Great videos!
I hopefully come up with a solution for this soon! It is very difficult due to the limited camera locations and reflections of the screens. For example: The ECAM display is usually recorded together with the PFD and ND. Due to bad light reflections, this part of the recording is not useable.
Just want to thank you for sharing this content, I want to become a captain as well and will hopefully start my education sooner or later. Hope you're doing well and always happy landings🎉
Thank you very much for watching and your good feedback! I do very well, no complaints. Thanks for asking! I wish you all the best for your aviation career!
Beautiful views, great video,. I have a question, in some landing videos, I see the ailerons shoot up with the spoilers when the spoilers deploy usually on the A320 family. Is it same for all airbuses or just the A320 family?
Thanks for your good feedback! The ground spoilers are deployed automatically during an Airbus A320 landing. The ailerons are not part of the ground spoilers. They may move, if the pilot does an input with the sidestick.
very exited ground crew 😂
I agree!
Hallo Captain! thanks for the wonderful video.
May I ask you please. In most of your take off videos I see you don't use improved climb take off speeds. What Eurowings SOP says when to use it? Thanks!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback! Could you please explain what improved climb takeoff speeds are? I never heard about this in regard to Airbus operations. It may be something from Boeing. We use a performance tool from Airbus called "Flysmart". It calculates the performance for the takeoff. We use the results for our flight. After the airplane is clean, the target speed is 250 knots below 10,000 feet. Above 10.000 feet, the target speed is calculated by the flight management system on the basis of the cost index and other parameters.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Ok. Maybe you can call it "increased V2 procedure" or "Advanced Take-off Techniques".
If the runway isn't contaminated and enough length to achieve better performance takeoff speeds are higher by 8-10 knots usually.
If at average take off weight your take off speeds around 130-145 this is normal procedure. If 150 - 155 its advanced.
Have you ever got take off speeds around 150-155?
I am talking about a319 and a320
1+F
Thanks for the explanation! V2 at 155 knots for an Airbus A319 sounds very high to me. I have seen that on very long runways with heavy airplanes. But more likely on the A321. We use NADP 2 with thrust reduction and acceleration at 1000 feet above the runway. Usually, we fly faster than V2. If the V2 is 145 knots, we fly more likely 155 knots or even a little faster. So this looks to me like your improved climb. We also do Flex temperature takeoffs and use an optimized flap setting for all takeoffs. Higher speeds after takeoff delay the thrust reduction because instead of gaining more altitude, the airplane gains more speed.
will there be an other picture in picture showing the ecam display in the future. this would be so awesome
I would love to do this. But due to the very limited camera locations I am still searching for a good solution. Please stay tuned. Have a nice day!
Great video! I recently flew from Gatwick to Mallorca Island last week for a holiday and I must say I really enjoyed the view of Alcudia and the mountains were stunning when we came into land on 24L. Really good ILS approach it was.
We went via the Pyrenees, Andorra and Barcelona on the way down, but the Pyrenees was bumpy over the mountains, but it was a really clear view. On the way back was a different route, via Marsellie and through central France. I thought we maybe went that way because the Pyrenees had bad weather, but that is the standard route to the UK.
Question 2: What is your favourite ATC coverage area in Europe, and why? I'd say mine is Spanish and English.
I hope to see you land at Gatwick (LGW) soon!!
Regards, Louis.
Louis, thanks for sharing your very personal feedback and experiences! The routings which are flown by the airlines are dependent on the wind. We like tailwind or only a little headwind. Sometimes it is better to fly a route which has more miles. But due to the better wind, the plane will be faster at the destination. ATC is doing a great job everywhere. I have no preference in Europe. I like US ATC very much. The full airspace belongs to the US FAA and makes it much easier for everyone. Also, US controllers are very helpful. They provide visual approaches everywhere and fantastic shortcuts. Even the small airplanes and their pilots are treated very well. US ATC also provides free ADSB Weather uplink which helps general aviation pilots a lot. And the FAA offeres GPS approaches to almost every runway.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos That's interesting! I've only flown as a passenger to the US on a few occasions but not very often. Thankfully, when we got back to London Gatwick, we didn't enter the holding pattern. We were straight through.
Also, was that the same pushback driver compared to your last video in Palma? It sounds like him! And how come you switched Airplanes?
Sorry for another question: How many pilots would or have come through the ranks via the RAF (Royal Air Force in the UK) or the military/army? And would their flying be different to others?
London airspace can be very busy. It may change rapidly during the day. We always plan a good amount of holding fuel.
This handling agent was already talking to us in another video. He is great. Very friendly and motivated!
The airplane changes are usually done to avoid ferry flights to maintenance. Düsseldorf is a maintenance base. So if an airplane needs to get back to the maintenance for a regular check or so, we try to cover this with airplane changes at our main destinations.
After finishing the career in the military, some pillots continue in the civilian aviation sector. Years ago, as I was a first officer, I flew with a few of them. My impression was that the transport airplane pilots were great people who organized a nice cockpit atmosphere. They were used to fly with large crews and teamwork was never a problem. Some ex fighter jet pilots who flew alone or just with a weapon system operator, had difficulties in regard to a good teamwork or crew resource management.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos Very interesting! Many thanks for the detailed information!
Hi Capt, question - what is the Declutter switch I see at 32:16, near the left side of both master warning/caution buttons? Because I thought Declutter is referred to the HUD on the A350s only. Hello from SIN/WSSS!
You are correct! The switch belongs to a HUD. This particular Airbus has a HUD installed. But it has been deactivated. So we can’t use it. Greetings to Singapore!
I’ll be doing this approach as a passenger on the 4th June with Ryanair
I wish you safe flight and a nice vacation on the beautiful isaland!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos thank you very much
I say this route, more than likely it’ll be the flight route over Alcudia/ Playa de Muro. Once in about 10 flights I’ve only ever had the final approach over the med. why is that? I’m guessing it’s to do with wind direction?
Does this 320 have a HUD installed or why are there the Declutter, X-Wind and so on switches on the glareshield?
looks like it !
You are right! It has a HUD installed. But unfortunately it is deactivated.
Hi, I noticed at 35:10 those knobs and switches at your glareshield above the ND, can you explain what is that?
It's the HUD, some Airbus have this option🙂😊
It belongs to a Head Up Display. But it is deactivated at this airplane.
@@fbw_pilot yes after some research I found it, thanks anyway!
First Officer Staying good evening to atc 😂
This was already our 3rd flight on this day.
What’s this VLS check that you do ? Is it to check you have a 5 knot split between VLS and Vapp? I assume this is a company thing?
We compare for the VLS check the VLS which is displayed on the PFD with the VLS which is displayed on the MCDU. If the VLS on the PFD is higher, we add the difference between both VLS-speeds to the approach speed in the MCDU. Both VLS have - depending on the airplane hard and software - different sources. The PFD VLS is calculated by the FAC on the basis of aerodynamical data (measured angle of attack and our entered CG from the loadsheet). The VLS on the MCDU is calculated on the basis of the entered zero fuel weight from the loadsheet plus the remaining fuel.

Fly Eurowings to meet Stephan. 😊
This is a great idea! I hope to see all the viewers soon onboard of the Airbus!
Does the channel have members-only videos? If so, are they accessible by “Gold Supporters”?
First of all: Thank you very much for being a member of the channel! The members are very important because their financial contribution help that the channel does still exist. Producing the videos is not only very time consuming. It also costs money for cameras, harddrives, software …. The members help to offest these costs a little bit.
Platinum members get - whenever possible - an early access to the new videos. Sometime a day early, sometimes even a week or two.
Right now, there are 2 fullflight videos exclusively available for the platinum members.
Gold members have the advantage that comments and questions are answered with high priority. This is also true for platinum members.
I plan to publish FAQ videos in the near future. They will be available to all channel members.
Thanks again for your support and have a nice day!
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos does one of the members only videos have to do with the A319’s FMGC?. I’m sure I saw it pop out somewhere. Thank you for the thorough explanation of the memberships.
@@obalobastic This is an explanation video about how we program the FMGS before the flight. But it is not new. It was originally part of a much longer video and I made a short video of it with just the explanation.

Yes
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos does he have to speak fluent German?
