Simple,,super, and amazing. This man is a shining example in a world over over use, false shortages, price inflation, materialis, consumerism, and famine he has done just a few things to remove one part of his family dependence on government ran programs turning solely to what he is given for free from our planet. Your own property has the same square footage and acreage outdoors and could certainly be retrofitted to collect your own water. Even if you don't go as far as to drink it but to use it for the toilet and clothes and dishes you could save on both power and water costs. Good for him and anyone he inspires to make any positive change in their life.
What I like about NDTV is that they highlight important aspects of human life and spread knowledge around, unlike other news channel where all are worrying about their TRPs and just have opiniated debates & whataboutery which is of higher decibel levels our ears can bear. Thanks NDTV for providing good information which is indeed useful for people across the world in the efforts to conserve water.
Government should pass a bill in parliament that every new building should mandatorily build storage tank for rain water harvesting all over india specially in cities.
we got impressed and did the same thing in my house but bwssb made mandatory to take connection since drainage and water is bwssb ,they say its mandatory to take connection are else drainage connection will be disconnected
A very good step taken by this man.small individual steps can lead to macro changes. here people waste water and then the government has to make dams etc to cater the water storage ,and those projects are worth billions of dollars. the figures by him are way more then needs of an household so even excess water can be stored from rain, as he said 40 by 60 ft area can accumulate 230000 litres of water ,, this is alotttt, in rainy areas it is a blessing
This should be done from all buildings and houses in the country, and the world. All the groundwater, rivers, water bodies, forests will get instantly recharged. Started rainwater harvesting in Delhi.
Very good example of what can be done. Kudos for him and his family. Although the "manual" intervention as a lot to improve. Carrying buckets is not practical or efficient at all. The good news is that it´s cheap and relatively easy to "automate" all that. ;-) Cheers

Respect for this man. I have rainwater recharge in my home. So I don't store the water but all the rain water and kitchen water is put back into the ground. Unfortunately in my colony there are only 5-6 houses who do this. Rest put their water in storm water drains, this year we are facing acute water shortage as water level has gone down to 500ft. Rain water recharge only works if substantial people are doing it. I have to rethink and move to rain water storage now. Although that means redoing the pipelines again.

Seems fake. How can he store water for an entire year in a sump tank. The size of the tank required for that would be massive. How was his tank full the day reporter came? So if it rains will it overflow? Rain water harvesting is about recharging the ground water.
