Hi Jayavardhana bhai, I'm very interested in the medieval period, especially how medieval jatis such as the rajputs, kayasthas emerged in the northern plains. Could you share a few reading material that I can reference? Thanks.
There was always a concept of elites amongst Kshatriyas. Rajputs are just a distorted form of that concept. The British let the rajasthani kings monopolise the concept - as they were loyal ...so they decided which people were accepted as Kshatriya elites or rajputs in British documents and which were not!!
I have a question. Are Sylheti people from the Sylhet region of present day Bangladesh and Bengali people Kshatriya or did they have Kshatriya people in their lands?

Who're Yaudheyas??? Bcoz we can still find strong Lord Murugan(Skanda) worship in Tamilnadu by Tamil communities. Yaudheyas coins have Murugan with Peacock. Esp. A particular Tamil community is associated with Lord Murugan and the mythological story "Skanda Purana".

Bhai, I am not sure Sialkot was ever considered part of Jammu. It was always part of Punjab. For the Jammu region, I am mainly talking about the Jammu Hills. Historian A.K Narain believes that the city of Sakala was close to the Jammu hills. That is my view as well.

It's the sakas and kushanas who annihilated the indo-greeks!
Right. The opposition against Alexander was most likely a joint effort of the tribes in this region along with porus of Pauravas.

We don't have information about the functioning of the republics. So the kind of government or how the state functioned is not known.

because in Panini's work he describes them as Samgha. So that is why we use the term Republic.
