You pretty much 100% have my diet and my friends continuously say to me, 'ah it's not fair that you look the way you do', well yes it is, as I look after my body! Thanks for the video
Hey guys, would you consider making a video or sharing some tips on healthy living/eating for students (ie on a budget)? I'll be going into halls next year and I'm scared I'll end up living off of unhealthy ready meals! :p
You won't trust me. Healthy food can be cheap too. I'm going into second year at uni and in my first year I bought frozen fruit and veg, fresh salad stuff twice a week and got my meat fresh from the butchers... This wasn't bank breaking!! X
I think it's less a case of financial constraints, but more time based ones. Long days in lectures and partying means you'll be more likely to reach for unhealthy food more from convenience rather than cost. My big tips would be to make meals in bulk. If you're making things like mince make enough for 4 meals and freeze the rest. Have things like whole grain pasta, rice etc in your cupboard and a bag of frozen veg. That way you can always just pan fry a bit of meat to go with it. Get meat when it's marked down in the supermarket and freeze it. Cutting things like chicken breasts and steak into thin strips before freezing will a) make it quicker to defrost and b) quicker to cook. Tuna is always a winner as are eggs. Good luck and have fun!xx
Your video is so helpful! Being a student you think it's easier/cheaper to buy frozen pizza, fries... but thanks to you I clearly see that for good price you can get nice healthy food such as organic bars and frozen vegetables. AND also as I just started to live in the UK, I was a bit lost with all the different food that you have compared to France so THANKS A LOT! Your explanations are just so instructive! ;)
Hey guys, could it be possible to have a video on tips of when/types of exercise to do during Ramadan? I always tend to put on weight during this time and really want to maintain my weight loss and exercise. Thanks
= the cat thing mine never jump on the kitchen bench but when they use to jump up on the table i'd *spray them with water & lemon juice mix* (it should smell strong but not like artificial cleaning product) ratio of 1 part juice to 2 parts water in a mist spray bottle. keep it on the bench and when they jump up spray on them like crazy until they run off. other options are cleaning your bench with a similar mixture. cats hate citrus so associating the bench with citrus is the cleanest & easiest way. i also made citrus peel popurri for the centrepiece too as i wont always be able to catch them.
Thank you so much for this! Today is the start of Ramadan for us Muslims and I was looking for healthy foods to keep me going during this fasting month! So thank YOUUU very much
It's so great to hear someone talk about this that actually knows his stuff! And about the cat: we used to spray our cat with a little spritz from a water diffuser whenever it tried to jump up - stopped it pretty quickly :D
I read that you can put tin foil or baking papir on the worktop to stop the cat from jumping up there. The sound and movement of it should "scare" them so they don't do it after a few tries
Hi! Could you please do a video on how you actually ration all of this and how you work out balancing all the carbohydrates, fats and proteins and such based on your individual self (basically height and weight and stuff...), thank you.
Thanks for the video, brother! Tip for the cat thing: If you put cookie sheets/baking trays along the counter so they hang off the edge (it'll inconvenience you for a day or two), the cat will jump up and immediately make them knock to the ground, and they'll be so scared of the clatter that they won't want to get up anymore. That way, they're not mad at you for doing it, they're mad at the trays. Worked like magic for us :)
I did not know that about whole milk. I grew up on 2% but I'm guessing it still must be processed enough that all of the nutrients aren't there. Definitely going to consider this when I'm at the store.
Great vid. Watching this on the first day of Ramadan (month of fasting) gives me some good ideas on what to eat. I don't suppose you have some tips for your fasting followers on what to eat/drink when you only have around 5 hours a night to consume nutrition? foods that help keep the energy up, that keeps the body hydrated throughout the day etc.? Generally I try to hydrate as much as I can + have some fruit/smoothies and meals/snacks that are high in fiber and protein like nuts and such.
I love how you keep it's snappy and fact filled and just cut to the chase, keeps me interested! I already but most of that but I'm gonna try a couple of different things after watching that! Good channel guys 😉
I don't know if you have it in the U.K., but tuna packed in the air tight pouches retains more of it's nutritional value than the tuna packed in the can because tuna in a can is just completely cooked to death with high heat to facilitate the canning process.
This is really helpful as the sister is doing a healthy top up shop for us today, carrot batons and hummus are becoming my favourite snack besides fruit
I like the advice, seems reasonable. I've an intolerance to Lactose and Whey, and I think Cassein, I've yet to test myself on Cassein, but it's in milk, so, we'll see.
Thanks for the video really helped me because I want to start being more healthy as I'm turning 23 soon and have asthma want to have loads of energy and vitamins to help me through the day :)
Kat Horrocks We always say in our house cats don't have owners they have slaves haha :) good luck trying to get her off the counter, we've had none so far!
Cats hate white vinegar. Do a half water and half white vinegar mix in a spray bottle and spray it on any surface you really don't want them on. That should help. It also works for surfaces they like to dig into such as couches, just do a color test spray somewhere inconspicuous first.
Awesome :) you guys have such a happy and simple approach to healthy eating, yet are still able to give solid evidenced based information. Love your videos, thank you :)
It's so interesting to see that in some other places in the world, frozen fruits and veggies are cheaper that "natural". Here's the other way around (I can't lie, veggies and fruits are quite cheap here in Chile), but the frozen ones have the advantage to be availaible every time of the year. I buy a kilo of blueberries for something like 3 pounds.
Hi Sarah your body can run off keytones when you go very low carb it's called ketosis but obviously reducing your carbs will affect you diabetes. As you are not going low carb I don't see why you couldn't use coconut oil in my opinion
Cat's HATE water... Get a spray bottle and fill it with water. Every time your cat's get on a surface you don't want them on, give them a quick squirt with the water bottle. They'll learn "VERY" quickly what "not" to get on! Plus it's not terribly mean and does not hurt them at all. My cat is a perfect gentleman and does not even think of getting on the kitchen table, counters, or my desk. I trained him when he was very young and only had to use the spray bottle for about 6 months before he knew, never get on the desk, table, counters. He actually quit getting up on things within a month but it took up to 6 months before it stuck permanently! Good luck and thanks for the AWESOME vid's!
I spent almost the entire video wondering why you were sitting on the right in the car at the beginning until I remembered that you guys in the UK have left-hand traffic, which is quite weird to me as a German. Anyways, very helpful video, thanks!
Thank you for the video, so helpful! Try cutting up an orange and placing the slices on the work surfaces, stops my cat! They can't stand citrus smells!
Brilliant video. Uncomplicated. I always find it's easier to eat certain foods when I know WHY it's good for the body. Sam n Nic are usually my thing but I can see tuning into Lean Machines will be a regular thing! Fab job! 👍🏻
Could you do a similar video but aimed at students? Starting uni in September and need to know what essentials I need and what I can miss out if I don't have the money or the space!
Excellent video and highly informative, John! I love vegetables (and fruit) very much, even more so the ones that you can eat raw and possibly with the skin too. Thanks for the video, mate.
What a great video. your knowledge is amazing learning so much from you guys! weekly food/menu plans would be great video :)) thanks for sharing ur world!!
Put tin foil on the work surfaces to stop the cats climbing up there - apparently they don't like it. I'm really rubbish at getting protein in as I'm a veggie but it was great to see that i'm already eating a lot of the right foods :) x
I just wanted to say thank-you for this. It's simple and not so overwhelming like other things have seen. Others use spices or food I have never heard of and expensive - let alone to know if I like them. Also, helpful when you explain why you brought the items - keep up the good work!
hey just a little bit concerned, I think sweet potatoes/carrots/turnips/potatoes may absorb chemicals too! because they're roots that store starch and things for the plant. probably good to get them organic as well
For those asking for more tips, bulgar rice is healthier than basmati and tastes just as good. Chickpeas, lentils and coconut milk are also great for making extremely healthy and filling foods, esp curries. I would also recommend herbs. I use cayenne pepper and cinnamon for a lot of my food and desserts; it gives it a kick and is so good for your metabolism.
It's all pretty good advice. Only thing I would say is don't be fooled by "The food doctor" label on the pitta breads. They are as processed as a McDonald's bun and up to there eyeballs in preservatives.
+TheLeanMachines Yeah it's a shame, because they seem pretty cool. You also missed out the great thing about kerrygold is the absence of antibiotics in their butter and the unpleasantness that go along with it, great brand.
+TheLeanMachines Buying breads from an actual bakery is so worth it for that reason. Everything in the shops have so many preservatives in them so they can make it from the factory to the consumer without spoiling.
So true! Unfortunately, many bakery chains nowadays also make their bread from pre-made mix they get in huge containers and then just stick it in the oven and they're done. And they all get it from the same brand, so basically all the bread is the same! Doing some research and finding the small bakeries that actually make their bread from scratch is so worth it, I totally agree with you! Firstly, you know what you put into your body and secondly, you get to support small businesses. I wish more people were more aware of what they consume. :)
Great stuff! Only thing I wouldn't buy is the "Whole Earth" (misleading name) peanut butter as there is added sugar and palm oil in it. I eat Meridian peanut or almond butter...all natural (or make ur own!). Thanks for great vid...confirms I am on right track with my healthy food!!
Loved this video! I eat healthy anyway but there were a few things I wanted to try so I showed my mum the video and now she's buying them😄 although organic is too expensive😞 please do another one if there's anything else you have and some recipe videos for simple breakfasts/lunches/dinners would be really good x
All of a sudden everyone in the comment section has a PHD in bio nutrition.... I think I'd rather listen to the lean guy with thousands of subs thanks :)

TheLeanMachines That's soooooooo cute haha :)

Lelly Talks thanks for the tips :)

You guy's have helped me so much, I'm doing the week fat burn, I'm only on the third day and I already see a difference. Thank You so much!!!

second that please :)
Hi go to Joanna soh's channel where she tells you how to eat and exercise in Ramadhan! She is Malaysian but lives in London!
The honesty and sincerity of advice is great. Keep it up
I love the fact that u show/tell us all about the veg and why you get certain organic items
Love these videos, more like this please. I'm trying to find different healthy foods to add variety to my meals! Thanks
+Andy JC no worries at all
Thank you so much for this! Today is the start of Ramadan for us Muslims and I was looking for healthy foods to keep me going during this fasting month! So thank YOUUU very much
LOVED this video 👍👍👍👍 food shopping is one of the more harder things to do for me and you had loads of great tips! Thankyou!! 😊
It's so great to hear someone talk about this that actually knows his stuff!
And about the cat: we used to spray our cat with a little spritz from a water diffuser whenever it tried to jump up - stopped it pretty quickly :D

Thanks David 👍

Good choice of butter and porridge- but then I would say that, I'm Irish :)
He reminds me of Francis from reign so much!

Very helpful, thank you.
Is nutella good or not instead of peanut butter +theleanmachines
Great stuff! Only thing I wouldn't buy is the "Whole Earth" (misleading name) peanut butter as there is added sugar and palm oil in it. I eat Meridian peanut or almond butter...all natural (or make ur own!). Thanks for great vid...confirms I am on right track with my healthy food!!
Love this video thank you so much!!
How good are nuts for you? They are high in fat and calories especially peanuts so how much of them is good to eat.
Love these vids. Always thought all butter was bad for. You learn something new everyday. :)
Why are you even looking at the comments then?
Pro Snagger because I watched the video and I have the same right as you to read comments
Tbh you can learn just as much in nutrition on UA-cam then In university
Thats also a pretty dogmatic way of getting advice on nutrition
loved this
Thanks Kayla!
A seriously helpful video and a great idea x
Flahavan's oats are the best! One of my favourite breakfasts :)
Sweet potatoes have most nutrition in the skin. So buying organic is the best option.
This was an awesome video!! Thank you very much
Would like to mention that frozen fruit and veg can be kept in cold storage for up to 6 months
awsome videos keep up the good work!!
TheLeanMachines Hi guys, I'm also from Norwich and I've seen your video a while back from when you went to Eaton Park next to Cringleford and that gives me an awesome feeling being able to relate to you guys even if it is in a weird way. Love you videos, keep it up! :)
