WOW - OMG - AWESOME. I think this tree was in tears until Corin arrived on the scene. The amount of rotten wood just seemed to get worse by the minute and was destined for the refuse tip. Then 3 mins later 😂 maybe a little bit more, corin weaves his magic, and creates from nowhere a masterpiece with an added rock thrown in too. Didn't get a chance to speak with you when I was over the Sunday of the opening, but i was impressed with the studio, your beautiful trees and the staff. Not forgetting the dogs. I came away with a nice chinese juniper and will be visiting again in the spring. I admire all your work and videos, and these comments don't give you the full credit you deserve Corin. Your an awesome guy so laid back so talented, a total genius.
Great work👍👍👍 lovely to see how drastic work these marvellous trees can withstand, can't wait to see the fruits of your labour. Another great video Corin.
Now imagine this is the first time you see a bonsai video. No wonder some people see us as tree torturers... :0) I really like how you show us the decision process and the work. Great educational video. Thanks! This will be a wonderful tree in a few years.
Wow another great video! Thanks for taking the time to film it. I wondered about lifting an old Rhododendron shrub as have a mature (20+) stump in the way, this may help in terms of roots.
Great video as always, thank you. How do you manage to work on these trees without gloves?! Last time I pruned a pyracantha my hands ended up looking like pin cushions.
Hello Corin, I really enjoy all your videos but this one was exceptional. I can`t wait to see this tree again as it progresses. BTW where can I get some of those large plastic pots you used on this video. Mike T from NJ USA
I tried the "pruning" blade on my reciprocating saw. I think the regular demolition or wood blades are cleaner cutting and just as fast. Easier to control, too.
You were very restrained, I would definitely cut the root and potted it up. There again I would have shortened the trunk so might as well air layer the top in spring
My choice would be to try and save the part you cut off, and let it grow out. So I would not have cut off any branches until that part was removed. And it brings up a question that I have been meaning to address. Is it better to have a straight cut on the side, or try to pry it apart so there is an irregular would to work with, possibly give character? Also . . . was Gin and Shari not an option? Hmmm. Before cutting, I would have tried to find the gap in between the two with a wire or something, perhaps that would help determine the best decision/action next.
This channel deserves alot more attention then its getting! Hopefully it keeps growing because Corin really does a great job in these videos!
Thank you, please mention us at you bonsai club / online forum

There's no question that this tree will be a stunner in future years. Excellent video!

Right away we see a great little tree. I love the massive looking trunk!
Been wanting to see you tackling trickier roots, brilliant. I need to tackle a hawthorn at some point and this gives me confidence.

Thanks Corin and team. Going to be a nice tree.
Good question, I was wondering the same thing.

Great channel, love your thought process. Super informative, thank you x
What a fantastic incite it’s amazing to see and hear the progression of this tree, I can’t wait to see its progression brilliant work as always 😜

I'm sure it will look nice in the future. Personally, I'd go with the "leave it alone" option. The dual-trunk looks exotic. :)

Great stock to work with!
Wow an exceptional tree, look at that trunk! I hear they heal very slowly, how is the scar now?
I love me some thick and short trees especially if they're shorin sized idk why. But I can't wait to see this tree next year
Excellent. That tree will look amazing as a hollowed out bog tree.
Another awesome video, thank you!
Bet it will look great in the future.
Great Vid thanks.. I did Want to know Where do you get those Training Pots from ?.. I would really like to get some. Thanks for help 🙏🏻
John's number two mixture? They say number two is a good fertiliser
Well grown tree, I think it has faced lots of hard chops before,
Thank you for all the nice video's and information. Could i do this type of surgery to a japanese maple. I love your work, keep up the good work ☺
I've managed to kill half a dozen of these, think I go in a bit heavy on the roots. I have two now and I repot them very rarely.
Awesome work

This video is anow a year old. Can you do a short video of what it looks like now?
Hi Simon, We did a follow up on this tree (and others) here - ua-cam.com/video/J8_4JUMC5G0/v-deo.html
what is that mesh tape? I've not seen that before.
Did we ever get an update on this tree?
Yes, of course, please subscribe so you don't miss it
ua-cam.com/video/kNjs1dn3jpw/v-deo.html
Do you have any followup videos on this tree?
Not yet, but it is on display at the nursery
I would have thought this an ideal candidate for your Bosch chainsaw Corin, do you still use it? I enjoy the video’s.
it blunts the chain when using it on soil and near soil surface, so recap was better, and it has a longer cutting blade
Where do you get the mesh tape you use? I love the fact that you don't need to use wire to put it in. 😁👍
Plaster tape, available at most DIY stores or places like screwfix
@@anthonyfenn748 thanks, I'll pick some up. 😁👍
19, I'd love to work here 😁
Is it still alive? Please post a photo of it.
Yes, of course it's still alive, its out on bench at my nursery. We will film part two in Spring
@@greenwoodbonsaistudio Good news, do you ever see Pyracantha Scab? Its a fungus and I lost three really nice Pyrancantha Bonsai trees.
Prefer the side trunk
Looked great until you separated the secondary trunk. ..
👋👌☝
nel
Was this surgery, or murder?
Plant cruelty 😅
