I love this tree! It started as a bit of a mess and when Corin finished, looked like the hand of Mother Nature reaching up from the ground. The trunk really took on the shape of an open hand. Amazing!
I really loved watching Corin working at the huge Pyracantha step by step. With that ugly straight bit gone, it really looks so much better. Let's hope that the rotten wood was taken away on time.
That was amazing: the expertise, the technique, and the lucid explanations; what a wealth of knowledge to absorb. The part about the berries being cut off was so well done. It was exactly what I was thinking as a novice - it’s the best part of the tree! A true master artist at work.
BRILLIANT VIDEO !!! seeing you do this reminded me of my much younger years, lifting, moving, carving, and wiring. Now much older 80 and unable to do much I rely on others, luckily my mental capacities are fine.
such a fantastic transformation from a rotting Pyracantha to a unique looking bonsai tree, I'm looking forward to seeing the progress of this beauty! Once again, thank you Corin and Josh for taking the time and effort to make these interesting videos . . . XXX
Impressive chunky bit of mature trunk! I’m so proud of myself because I had the same vision of the final design, before you explained the removing of the straight trunk. Brilliant idea with the rock matching the hole left by the removed rotten wood. Thank you for sharing
Corin, the way you convert an eyesore into a pleasing work of natural art is astounding. And your camera manner and thought process is so relaxing and easy to understand. Can't wait to see how this little guy grows up. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
I'm so in love with that tree! So happy you intervened when you did, what was "salvaged", with the rock, it's so cool, yes, can't wait to see what happens with it in a year.
Nice 1 Corin n Josh made my day. It's a true education what you do nice to see the old girl get the love she deserves. be up soon to get some akadama and some of those lessons... Something to be said for knowing the craft and being brave with cuts Looks like the last in a long line of rescues for that tree Many thanks and all the best going forward
Since moving house a year ago I've been so busy renovating but these past few days I've been watching these videos recently and i cant wait to continue developing my few trees i started before i moved Thanks Corin and Greenwood
Bravo! GREAT work, Corin. That bit of moss in the final shot really is the finishing touch. It's a beautiful piece. Thank you for allowing us to watch you work, Corin! Thank you!
Really interesting video as usual not your normal run of the mill stuff we have all seen before. I enjoy the more unique projects I can see a bright future ahead for that tree the tufa looked made to measure and looked good with the bark. Thanks to all involved 👍🏻
If i hadnt seen it with my own eyes i wouldnt have believed it, but you pulled it off ( no punn intended ) & now we all wait bated breath for the next instalment ...
Thoroughly enjoyed that . Best channel on you tube the set up , filming and presentation is great Looks to have the makings of an ace tree that looking forward to seeing how it transforms and pics of it in flower and berry next year would be interesting
I confess I liked the top piece , but when you pointed out it's faults up close I got the picture ! Great lesson on what's not going to look good further down the line 👍🏻
Intrigued. Do we like the rotting hollow? Was the option to expose the carving ever considered? Or is that a bonsai faux pas? Get me, Japanese and French in one hit...
It could have been exposed and could still in the future. But so much was rotten it wasn’t as visually stable as when I added the rock. So that was my preference.
I had no idea that Pyracantha was that tough. I hope I don't kill mine overwatering it. I enjoyed seeing you carve it out, and painting it with a stain was quite a surprise for me.
Pyracantha is so hardy and I only have one so far. I think they're great, a bit dangerous if you get jabbed😅 but beautiful. Those make me so jealous. Great job dude.
Very interesting material. What a fun project! I think that left hand stump could be thinned out quite a bit to make it more elegant. Looking forward to see how it progresses.
just came across your channel by accident, but watched maybe the first minute or so, im hooked. your newest sub i think! keep the vids coming buddy, we have to visit about trees soon.
General question. When you put a rock in that hole, will the rock wick moisture and cause that wood to rot again eventually? Another wonderful video. Thank you as always!
VERY attractive results and expert transformation!!! The tree reminds me of 2 bull walruses (sans tusks) maybe just reaching the beach to bask and digest lunch, before a good nap! Wonderful bonsai! 🐟🦭🐟🦭 Best of the Holidays to All at Greenwood🎄🎄🎄🎅🏼
First four minutes with no sound i thought you were American, really sorry for that. Great stuff, no background music or emoji's, just masters doing their thing, the reason why I've just subscribed. Thank you.
I love the blooper at the beginning and the fact you left it in , absolute legend .
As my Dad would have said, "That's making a silk purse from a sow's ear." Great work! Thanks for sharing!

Great transformation, one of your best videos.
Fantastic lesson in bonsai design, thank you.
Great work, look forward to seeing how this develops.
You made this look SO EASY!!
That chunk you cut off would make good topiary style flower arrangement.
Corin: I enjoyed watching your creativity with this tree! SoCal
good to see how long you can expose the roots to the open air for this species
Enjoyed this process and was intrigued with all the steps. So interesting and the challenge to get there was really great. Confidence
Glad you enjoyed it! - Check out the update on it here -ua-cam.com/video/kNjs1dn3jpw/v-deo.html
I confess I liked the top piece , but when you pointed out it's faults up close I got the picture ! Great lesson on what's not going to look good further down the line 👍🏻
Great work! I suspect you’ll have a real nice piece there in a few years.
It would surely be a unique massive based 3 trunks raft. Following its evolution. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant work thank you for sharing
Well done. Thank you for sharing.
I would love to own that tree. The way you cut out the dead wood and made it look like it was growing on a rock was amazing.
Real life, brilliant!
I know this tree will be amazing in 5 years, good job, mate😊
Best bonsai artist on UA-cam. Great videos and presentations.
Agreed 🎉
Wow ! that was such an amazing transformation and so much more appealing ! Great job !
What a transformation! Bravo!
“I could air layer it, but all I’ll get is a log with branches” 😂😂😂 Amazing

Really good video and thanks for sharing. Quite often this type of material makes the best bonsai 😊
Very interesting material. What a fun project! I think that left hand stump could be thinned out quite a bit to make it more elegant. Looking forward to see how it progresses.
Yes, once it has put some root out next year and is more stable.
just came across your channel by accident, but watched maybe the first minute or so, im hooked. your newest sub i think! keep the vids coming buddy, we have to visit about trees soon.
Nice yamadori bonsai ,thank you for sharing good luck Mr
I have trouble seeing the 'smallest tree' in the planning -- this helps
Superb tutorial 👍🙏
General question. When you put a rock in that hole, will the rock wick moisture and cause that wood to rot again eventually?
Another wonderful video. Thank you as always!
I doubt it and it was well treated with wood harderner once I had carved away the rot
