And does anyone remember how buggy and disfunctional the console was when it came out? 'Cause when I bought my Xbox One, dear GOD, was it such a broken mess; it kicked me back to the home menu, it let me play online without Gold (which was cool, but still), apps like UA-cam stopped working, the console was slow, it updated all the time, the Upload Studio app was laggy, one of my hard drives for it was corrupted, I wasn't allowed to enter my passkey too slowly or too quickly, and games or apps took hours to install or update.

Except that Xbox is doing worse than Sega ever did because unlike the former, the latter at least tried to make new IPs without buying studios and they at least tried to sell their consoles without porting their games to competing consoles even though they were failing.

One thing that pisses me off is that Xbox fans are applauding this game because it's sooooo cinematic, but would crap on PS for that exact reason. I literally saw a tweet praising "the glorified loading screen" and saying that what's happening in front of him is not a cutscene but would crap on the newer GoW games for it. At least with the latest GoW games, their combat is still engaging and has this playful feeling, making it still feel like a DAMN game. Hellblade 2, from what I've seen, is the exact game they should be crapping on, but since it's on Xbox, they applaud it.

@@rahmellbrown162 For me: fun gameplay, good story, game design, and art design are the most important aspects of gaming to me. If the game doesn't nail those I just put the game aside. Sad how some gamers throw away the most important aspects in games for graphical detail.
@@MoviesandGameslover yeah man I can’t, like I’ve really been enjoying and playing Rise of Ronin. I know alot of ppl have it a not so good review but man once you nail the gameplay, and I’m a no fan of ninja/samurai games, it’s really good taking into consideration all the styles for each weapon, and once you get into that flow it’s pretty badass with the anime like moves lol. Then although the story is not anything crazy it’s style cool how they insert your created character into historical events and make you a factor. Those also choices and relationships too which I was not expecting
@@rahmellbrown162 As long as the game still feels like a game, let's enjoy it, because I just know that in a few years, games that let you play how you want to play instead of telling you to play in one way will disappear. Hellblade 2 is the biggest sign of this.

If the gameplay was deep, the graphics would not look as good as they are, which is really sad nowadays, they sacrificed gameplay in order to achieve realistic graphics, and personally, I really dislike that, I would rather have a ps2 looking game with deep gameplay than a realistic looking game with horrible plain gameplay.

Honestly fair critique. I'm still gonna play the game for myself since I was a huge fan of the first game. However, a problem that worries me the most is what you said about the puzzles. In the first game, the gameplay was very surface-level level as it was meant to break up big story moments and help you really get into Senua's head. The combat wasn't very complex because there wasn't much of it so it didn't really need to be. So the fact that the second game hasn't made any big improvements while disappointing doesn't really bother me. What does though is the puzzles because the first game had some really cool and unique puzzles and made up half of the gameplay. So if the puzzles are boring, easy or just not fun to solve then for me at least it is going to massively impact my enjoyment of the sequel.
I will edit this comment later down the line when I eventually play it and share my thoughts. Also pour one out for my bois at Tango Gameworks for making one of my personal favorite games of 2023.
Microsoft lost my interest a while ago, but them closing Tango was the biggest nail in the coffin. Tango made The Evil Within games, which are criminally underrated, and of course, Hi-Fi Rush. Microsoft claims they care about making games, yet they close a studio that was clearly very good at making creative games!
As a game, not great, but if it were a cgi film, it would be amazing. Hell it pretty much is a movie. I’m enjoying it so far though, sucks to hear people aren’t vibing with it, which is understandable
I played the first game a few years back and thought it had some decent puzzles, interesting story and environments but hated the paper-thin, boring combat. The only reason I finished it was for the story which I remember liking but barely remember now. I was really excited for this game when it was announced because it seemed like a huge opportunity to fix the combat while expanding upon the story. But instead we just got more of the same just with a fresh coat of paint and puzzles that are somehow worse.

I have a weird feeling regarding this game I can't describe it but the closest I have to explain this game is disappointment. Cause ninja theory made this game and they made some nice combat focused games before like the dmc reboot and while I absolutely hated the story of that game (for ruining Dante's and Vergil's character and making Sparda the badass demon who single handedly fought his entire race to protect humanity into a coward who ran away) the gameplay at times was fun (except for the color coded enemies) and it had some memorable bosses like Bob Barnes and it has the best platforming in the series and seeing this come them is just sad

I have no problem with Hellblade 2´s 5 hour playtime or the fact its more of a visual and audio experience. I have a problem if thats all you developers care about. Literally everything is worse than HB1 in this game, even the voices in her head. These voices are now "audio yellow paint". I mean they have a 1 hour section were you light up torches in a fking 5 hour long game... their puzzles are way worse and just pure filler content to hide the fact that the game would be about 3 hours long without all of their filler shit in... again... a 5 hour long game. Dont get me started on gameplay on itself. The combat is horribble, it looks really cool but thats literally it.

i think it’s just not your type of game imo, both the hellblade games are pretty much like this and it’s heavily focused on story, i personally think it’s really good but i can see why one wouldn’t like it, to say it’s a disappointment is a stretch and i feel like that’s dragging it to a extent. I’m not trying to debate any of your points because they’re all valid, especially if it’s simply not the kind of game that you like to play, but to say the game is outright not good because you don’t like the game style is imo dramatic.

I decided on aPS4 for christmas 2020 for 2 reasons
1. I wanted to play marvels spiderman (also had never heard of x-box exclusives)
2. Playstation was the only console with VR back then and I couldn't figure out a PC for crap
I can see Xbox shutting down Ninja studios in the later months I don’t know how a gaming company that working is with the studio the ones is making the game and don’t promote it or show a new trailer until the release date that’s baffles me
the game is not for all. is an art piece very intense without pausing or slowing by saving or menu options. is straight forward action. the only downside for me is that is slow
I’d argue that the vr and portal are is them experimenting and giving people unique ways to play the games.
People argue that without Xbox Sony wouldn’t try new things, but right now I’d say VR and Portal are those unique things they are trying.
Their successes are questionable but they at least are trying it from a hardware side of things.
I say this as someone who don’t care for VR, I get motion sickness so I can’t even use it so I don’t give a fk about it, but total on the other hand, I dig.
I understand that the total might be a prototype for a potential actual handheld hardware akin to vita which I also love and still have for those last gen indies and classic games (rpgs primarily).
Just my two cents.
The way they've handled VR doesn't seem that way and it detracts from the more important developments and the Portal is just a game stream device that doesn't even work outside of the house. It would unironically be more cost effective and a better gaming experience to just buy another TV

This game is the real definition of a no thrills walky-talky movie game, in the worst possible way. I hate the combat in the modern God of War games, but at least it has a decent amount of it and it actually exists. Weirder still is that Ninja Theory have done action games in the past, so they should have a solid grasp of combat design.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Hellblade series is like someone took all of the big criticisms about Last of Us, Nu-God of War and MGS 4 and made it into a full game (well, as "full" as a five-hour game can be.)

Xbox really is one of those platforms that has good games on them, has good games still being ported and its fun to use when you have good games, but lately the games they focus on the most really suffer

Xbox obviously has a ton of games that are great outside of the exclusives, that are available on the Platform. But the problem is that nobody with a brain is buying an Xbox to play those games. When PlayStation has the same games + a way bigger and better catalog of exclusives

Still most XBOX owners still use gamepass as an excuse for not having any games. Gamepass is an ok deal but 89% of those games are either indies or xbox 360 titles. Any new game would to gamepass after like 4 months. Tbh its a shit deal.

I don't know how anybody can be offended by an additional hardware offering. PSVR 2 and the new pro are completely optional items that help accelerate your experience in the PlayStation ecosystem. They are completely optional. All we get from Xbox are fridges and new controller schemes.

Sure it looks pretty, but I can say the same about Fort Solis, and that's barely a game too.
The GoW Ragnarök introductory area, has more gameplay than this entire game, while still looking stunning, and having a great story. It's absurd, not because Hellblade 2 is short, but because it's nothing else than that.
Why you include "walk sections" as gameplay?
If the only thing you do is hold forward, how's that meaningful gameplay? If the story can progress by tying the analog with a rubberband, how is that using an interactive media in any meaningful way?
How much gameplay there is in those games if you don't count the walking sections as gameplay?
99 percent of the game is walking and cutscenes,the total time of combat is like 10 minutes in the whole game
Because I’m doing something with my controller to interact with the game, I don’t consider it meaningful gameplay though AND THAT’S THE PROBLEM, that’s why there shouldn’t be so many of these sections in the game

Pretty sure it’s because I spinned it into saying it’s cinematic and it has depth. Plus cutscenes are movie level great, but it also has a lot more gameplay than story.

I legitimately bought an Xbox just for Hi-Fi Rush + I didn't own a PS5 or any next-gen gaming hardware at all. But now they've closed the studio that made Hi-Fi Rush and I own a PS5, I pawned my Xbox and now considering in getting a PC in the future.

I have no issue saying The last of us is a "movie game", that's not a problem.
The problem is when it has a shit story, like the last of us 2.
Whether u have an issue or not it’s still a braindead take, and even if I agreed TLOU2 had a shit story. 80% of that game is combat and exploration, it has way more gameplay than it does story, and that gameplay is actually great. And it has a rougelike mode on PS5. And it’s the same thing for the first game, plus TLOU1 had multiplayer.

The rest of the gameplay is comprised by "exploration" with a singular path and zero thought required from the player.
I don't take in consideration roguelike or multiplayer modes because I don't play them in story driven games.
The first game I give a pass in how litle it demands from the player because the story is simple but very well told and the characters are great. In the second game the characters are unlikeable cunts and the story is absolute nonsense, it wants to make so grand statement about cycles of violence when in reality the only "moral" it teaches is that if you're going to kill someone, leave no witnesses behind.
The game is only 25 hours long if u play on lower difficulties, when u play on grounded or survivor it’s 28-30 hours for most ppl. And let’s say hypothetically it was only 25 hours, there’s objectively only around 4.5 hours of cutscenes (which u can skip most of) and around 2 hours of walky talky stuff. 6.5/25 = 26% of the game… So you’re objectively wrong.
Also saying only 4 hours of the game is combat is just lying, and the exploration is more than what u describe it the levels are huge combat encounters can be tackled in many different ways and exploration have more than just a small linear path. And you have countless environmental puzzles that extremely important to do on higher difficulties.
And I don’t care what YOU take into account, objectively you have to consider other games modes as they’re part of the game.

Eh, does ps really have exclusives ? The only ps exclusive I've played on my ps5 that I can't play a better version on my pc has been demons souls remaster. In all honesty. I will likely skip the next consoles completely and double down on my my pc up grades.

This fuckin sucks. I was seeing the gameplay and thought this game was kinda up my alley. Love games that have a brutal realistic fighting system. Then I heard that the game is incredibly short and the combat is few and far between. I wanted this game to kick ass so bad and I can’t help but think some of this has to do with Xbox. The game clearly wasn’t ready if that’s all we got. Hope it can get supported with DLC that extends its playtime and add a shit ton of combat mechanics and scenarios.

HellBlade 2 is a great game, stop shitting on it and give it a fair review.
This game has its flaws, especially with the gameplay being lacking, but it is still a fun experience.
Just like how you defended Spider-Man 2, maybe give the same treatment to this game. If anything, this is a very good game, with a good story.
Like half of guys commenting about how bad this game is, haven't even played it.
And sometimes after a long day, don't you just wanna have a fun story experience, not every game needs to have a complicated combat system. In Spider-Man 2 for example, for most of the game I was just mashing buttons, seriously that's all you gotta do most of the time, it doesn't make it unfun.
Now onto the layoffs. This is an industry wide problem, literally every tech company has been laying off its employees, even Sony layed off 10% of its workforce for that matter.
And these people that have come now praising hi-fi rush after xbox shut the studio down, are the same people that never bought the game, never played it. You gotta see that Xbox suffered a great loss with Hi-Fi rush. Now I am in no way supporting these layoffs, but if you wanna complain maybe criticize all these companies that are laying off employees ,not just xbox.
Basically what I am trying to say is every single fucking gaming company sucks, but people only criticize one. I don't understand why people d*ckride these corporations when they don't matter to them. We lost the true purpose of games, which was to have fun. Now every game has to have amazing beatiful graphics , complicated combat like elden ring, and so on.

This idea Microsoft is moving out of gaming over exclusives is hilarious. They license Minecraft which is itself a larger franchise than most of Sony's gaming franchises put together. It's not like 3rd parties weren't the reason Microsoft managed to cinch the 360 generation because the competition ditched the 3rd parties with the PS3's cell processor and the Wii's motion controls only Nintendo could succeed with.
GTA and CoD sales dwarf most other game sales, that's the reason why these companies haven't given up on the console market which has been stagnating since the Playstation 2's highest selling console of all time stat... 10+ years ago! Nobody cares! It's all moving to mobile gaming and we're getting left behind, mostly also because people are realizing that consoles are and always have been terrible and buying an overpriced gaming PC is actually where it's at and these people usually don't pay for games instead of sailing the high seas if you know what I mean.

It's a AA game that is also a very niche game! Having completed hellblade one and hellblade two, it's safe to say that the second one is what I expected.
And the hilarious thing is the people who loved the first game, are slagging off hellblade 2, slagging off the things that they loved in the first game.

Ps4 has shooters, unique games like little big planet and dreams along side their 3rd person action adventure games. Where are these games this gen? Where is the playstation that took chances with games? That has gone in my opinion.
